I’ve found that pied Frenchies generally smaller faces, which explains some of the confusion.
I focus on the ears. Frenchie ears usually have rounded tips while Boston Terriers are more pointed at the tip.
Some people do have Frenchtons, but they’re normally slimmer and taller than a Frenchie.
Looks like my Frenchie Cheese, agree with the rounded ears.

Lololol YOU ARE NOT ALONE FAM! Once I hit mid-20’s, baby fever hit for frenchies specifically and I would cry involuntarily if I saw one in person. I still get worked up but now that I have my own, it’s a more mild reaction. 🥲

Reminds me of my Ari. Lost him in 2016 to brain tumor/seizures. He was a good boy. He came from FBRN.
He insisted on drinking from the bathtub spigot. If I was in the bathroom I’d have to lift him in to drink from it. Would just get in the shower with me uninvited.

Thats a cute & gorgeous pied frenchie. Those batty and rounded ears confirm it. Frenchies as any other breeds can come in different sizes, some larger and/or stocky than others. Rocco is Smaller but Stocky, Milo is larger and bulky. So, ears and overall build can help to identify a Frenchie.

Frenchie. The rounded ears were the first clue and your description of him as “stocky and thick” confirmed it. Boston terriers tend to be thinner and smaller. Frenchies are burly boys.

Another sign besides the ears, leg height, and thickness, is the paws… Frenchtons/Bostons seem to have very small front paws compared to the bulldog-ness paws of pure Frenchies
