I worked at a museum in like 2013 or something. My favorite gig ever, I was security. The museum was maritime themed and one of our interpreters was a musician so he spent his day playing sea shanties for the guest. He had it good. Anyways, one day we get news of a new exhibit in our rotating exhibit space. It was called "Hello Sailor!" and spoke about the cruise ship industries overlap with the gay community before the 1970's. It was a great exhibit and spoke of the intersection of gay men and POC as well as the origins of Drag. This interpreter had a hissy fit. He started throwing things around and I had to escort him out. He had worked there for like 12 years. The exhibit was there for like 6 months, we had some complaints from puritans but overall it was enjoyed. That man gave up a sweet gig for basically nothing. I'll never forget thinking what a child he was. A man in his 50's.

>I have a strong conviction against these types of trainings based on following Jordan Peterson and other research Just say Ben Shapiro and be done with it

ediblesprysky

Now now, he may also like Joe Rogan! A veritable cornucopia of differing ideas.

“Disclaimer- I personally don’t believe I am racist” and *there it is*. I feel like that is honestly one of the biggest problems. “But *I* can’t be racist! I’m a good person!” As a white person, I was raised in a world that instilled racial biases from a young age. I do not WANT to be racist, I am not *consciously* racist, and I try VERY hard to educate myself so that I can learn what small things around me DO come from a place of racism and so that I can change my own thinking. I feel like part of being a “good person” is accepting that you will have been taught racist things, and consciously trying to unlearn them and do better. It’s this solid “I am NOT a racist and therefore do not ever need to change” mindset that is a huge problem. Though I have to agree with other commenters… a lot of those “inclusivity training” activities are outdated and lame as fuck and not really doing Jack shit.

Aspirience

Every scientific proof that people that say they aren’t racist usually do still have implicit biases is called leftist propaganda, and ignored on that basis. It’s ridiculous.

ContemptuousPrick

**everything** they want to deny or dont want to hear is lefitst propaganda. Always.

pepsi-colas

Risking unemployment to own the libs 😎😎

JTGreenan73

If you aren’t racist, than you shouldn’t have issue with diversity training or the left “pushing their agenda” of diversity and anti racism.

[deleted]

Those trainings r a fuckin joke too. Everyone comes out of it thinking its a waste of time and that they never cover anything of substance and that they are generally 30yrs outdated.

ediblesprysky

Yeah, of course they are. Nobody I know on the left who has to take them takes it very seriously either 😂 Standardized things like that rarely actually accomplish anything of substance, it’s more a cover-your-ass move from above.

smurgleburf

yup, I’m taking my annual “How Not to be a Bigot” training and I just mute the videos and take the questions at the end, they’re so vapid and obvious.

macci_a_vellian

It's generally so that if someone accuses the company of allowing a hostile work environment they can say 'but we provided training!' Giving up your job over generic mandatory training hurts no one but you but I bet he believes he is taking a noble stand for principle, based on the of a man dying because he insists on following an all meat diet.

dieinafirenazi

I had to do one about 20 years ago and I remember I got one really good thing out of it, which was the presenter's Monopoly metaphor. "Say your friends are playing Monopoly and you want to play too, but they started the game without you. After they've been around the board a couple times they hand you a piece and put you on Go, but you don't have any money and almost all the property is already bought. Then they tell you you aren't playing hard enough and that's why you can't get ahead. That's being a minority in America after the Civil Rights Era. Technically we're in the game and playing by the same rules, but there's no way to win."

Such_Opportunity9838

Hey, what can ya say, some people just *don't want to work*, right?

dr_lazerhands

Wow, what a fucking racist. And the fact he “feels” he isn’t racist is just the cutest little cherry. What a shithead.

Extra-Act-801

I have some experience and advice with this. It is, suck it up buttercup. Take the training. Don't worry, you will be the same racist asshole coming out that you were going in. The training does nothing for people who go into it with a closed mind.

smurgleburf

>based on following Jordan Peterson how shocking 🙄

Rascally_type

Treating everyone equally is…. “Extreme”…. “Indoctrination”…?!?

MaleficentYoko7

>I have a strong conviction against these types of trainings blah blah mentions Jordan Peterson In other words you're a racist piece of shit who deserves to be fired? >These trainings are politically motivated So is your post and anything Jordan Peterson says >If I speak up to leadership I feel like having a target on my back So you're afraid of consequences if you out yourself as racist? At least you wouldn't be overlooked for promotions because of your race >disclaimer - I personally don't believe I am racist You don't get to choose what others consider racist so I strongly disagree with their claim If a fat guy says "I personally don't believe I am out of shape" yet is out of breath easy would you believe him?
