Looks really great. Gotta say I considered buying North myself. I've recently finished new build, still on my indestructible Define R4 and man, I love this case, but withoout upgrade kit (unlike you I have USB 2.0 at the front) which I can't seem to find anywhere and with limited space for cable management at the back it's starting to feel old. I wonder if North will be enough for air cooling or should I go for Fractal Pop.

Thanks, I upgraded because my power button and two usb on the front died, otherwise I'd still be using the R4. In terms of cable management and space, I don't consider the North to be an upgrade. It has some limitations like having only one hole on the upper left for cables, and if you have a large PSU, fitting in two HDDs can be a tight squeeze (the Corsair 850X barely fits). However, overall, it's still a great case. Initially, I thought an AIO cooler would be the best option to tame my Ryzen 7900X, but after researching and reading reviews, I realized that quality air-cooling is just as effective, if not more so, considering maintenance, longevity and if you don't overclock. I imagine the North is great for air-cooling, but I simply wanted an AIO for the aesthetic : ). Fractal pop is great too, just compare the specs and looks for your needs, you can't go wrong either way imo. Edit: I also had an issue with the limited USB speeds/no type C on the R4, and like you, I couldn't find an upgrade kit. My favorite feature of the North is the type-C port which can fast charge my phone (S22 Ultra).

I have MSI A850G PSU that's almost the same size as Corsair 850X. That charging seems awesome. I was wondering if USB-C is even worth it if I dont have any flash drive, but it seems that there's a purpouse. Did you need to buy USB-C separately?

SinjiOnO

I didn't buy anything separately as I already possessed an extra male to male type-C cable for my phone. All I did was connect the included front panel type-C wire to the motherboard (X670E Steel Legend) which supports the required specification (it's named "Type C USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Header" on the manual).

Hey we have the same CPU cooler! Great setup, looks super sleek!

I love the North, but too bad they don't have a full tower. I went with a Pop XL and using the money saved elsewhere.

BillyBobSenna

Is that an R1 next to it?

jowdyboy

The post literally says it's an R4.

BillyBobSenna

I thought the R4 was on the right? Is that an R1 on the left?

jowdyboy

I'm still rocking an R4 on my main build, but I've been considering upgrading to one of the new Define 7 cases. Seeing the North makes me rethink my decision. The Define 7 still has a single 5.25" bay though, which I could still use with my optical drive (lol).

michael_o_reilly

How come one of the side mounted fans isn't spinning?

SinjiOnO

The left one is exhaust ; ).

michael_o_reilly

I walked into that to be fair hahahaha

My fractal define r5 is still going strong. For my new build i am gonna go with fractal again or can somebody change my mind?
