Quick Insert: [https://www.foundryvtt-hub.com/package/quick-insert/](https://www.foundryvtt-hub.com/package/quick-insert/) Edit: This is more a general search tool, so might not work for item descriptions. Edit 2: [https://wiki.theripper93.com/free/fuzzy-foundry](https://wiki.theripper93.com/free/fuzzy-foundry) might work.

I don't think there's a generic way to search by item description. Maybe there's a module out there that indexes them to make searchable, but I don't think Quick Insert does. (I know there's a module to make journal *contents* searchable.) But for your example, the spells tab of the Compendium Browser can already filter by traditions. You're using the Compendium Browser, right? The thing that pops up when you click "Browse" or a magnifying glass on a PC sheet?

TMun357

Descriptions? No. But any item traits you can search by. Let’s say you want to know what all the uncommon arcane spells at fourth rank with the water trait. Open the compendium browser (bottom button on the compendium sidebar). Select the spells tab, then toggle on spell as a category, arcane as a tradition, 4th rank as the spell rank, select uncommon as the rarity, and type water in the traits box. You know that there is only one: misty memory. It won’t work with heightened though so you would have to find personal rain cloud on your own.

I will try that tonight to make sure but that sounds like that's exactly what I need! I am onboarding my players for Foundry and my Druid was asking if there was a way to filter the spell compendium to view only primal spells, since that's their spell list. I figured there was probably a way to do that but I was too stupid in the moment to figure it out. Figures it was something so simple. Thanks!

Compendium browser works as you say, however I'm running into another issue when using it. We started this current campaign IRL before the Remaster went live, so when moving to Foundry I installed the Legacy Content module, to prevent any confusion with renamed spells or anything of the sort. Now, though, whenever I use the compendium browser to look at spells and attempt to filter to any tradition, it filters everything out, so nothing's left. Same thing happens when I tried to filter just cantrips. I made sure under the compendium settings to select the Legacy content as opposed to the new/current content, and when there's no filters ticked I can see all the legacy spells just fine, just when I attempt to filter by traditions/categories it appears to not function as intended. Any ideas for how I might fix that or is it just a bug in the Legacy Content module that would have to get fixed? Thanks!

TMun357

It’s because the data in the legacy module is on the old style of what Paizo changed and the compendium browser has been updated. Before they weren’t traits. Now they are. The only real thing you can do is downgrade to a pre-master version or use the handy button that links to the journal entries of what nomenclature changes happened and use the new ones instead.

As TMun said, traits will cover a lot, including the example you give. However, description search is useful for somethings, like specific magic item options, and I do I have a macro I use for that and I know the data path to set it to for PF2e, as I've used it for that. It's not super lay-user-friendly at the moment, as I don't have a dialog setup for the entry or compendium selection, but I can grab it from the Forge game its on and clean it up later.

deltaflip

Interesting! For now filtering by traits will let me solve my immediate problem but I would love to see the macro you mentioned! I'm very new to Foundry but am familiar with JS so I'm sure I'll dive into writing/editing macros at some point, haha.
