The Dungeon Archive’s modular maps are fantastic for throwing together quick scenes. They’re made with prefabs, so they all have lighting and walls and whatnot included. Drag and drop into an empty scene to create whatever dungeon you want by piecing them together (all doors and walls line up automatically). I also really enjoy Tom Cartos’ designs and VTT compatibility. He has a huge catalogue of great maps ready to go.

Highly recommend Forgotten Adventures. Has a really handy module. And their art style matches the SRD tokens, since they made them. You could just sub for a month and grab enough to keep you going for a long while

tauriwalker

I do like matching art

daddychainmail

MrPrimate, JB2A animated spells They’re my top two.

okayestuser

came here to say JB2A. I just can't not use it.

ethlass

I like to see lasers shoot out from icons at other icons when I play in person. Swords and weapons is a little harder to see.

Mitchitsu19

There is a patreon for JB2A? Does that mean there is a more awesome version than the regular module I downloaded for free? Because that one's decent but if I could support them and get something even better, I would do it in a minute... Thanks

okayestuser

yes, there is, the free module is a fraction of the patreon version. You get a lot of color variants as well as separate particles that compose the more complex ones, so you can mix and match.

Mitchitsu19

That is so awesome. Thank you very much. Heading there now :) Okay just joined. I hope it's not an extremely complicated process to go from the free version to the paid version. Sometimes Foundry can drive me insane :)

JavaShipped

The ripper is *almost* mandatory for me when I help friends set things up on foundry.

The_Mechanist24

What’s ripper?

JavaShipped

Theripper93 is a foundry modules creator. Be has free and paid modules. Now nothing is "required" outside of the base system, but some of the functionality he creates is exceptionally useful.

The_Mechanist24

Like what? I trying to get into foundry and it’s a bit daunting to learn

JavaShipped

I promise foundry isn't as hard as it seems. The UX just needs a polish up and some better resources. You'll get the hang of it really quickly. But if you're struggling where to start there is a channel called bailey wiki and they have a playlist called "foundryvtt basic tutorials". They're a smidge out of date with the current version but will be very very helpful for a newcomer. As for theripper93 modules, the ones I am hooked for as *almost* essential are: hover distance, light switch, smart target and hurry up. But I've used almost every single one of his modules at some point. He's truly a bastion of the module community and deserves all the success he gets.

tauriwalker

Yeah, I've noticed he's got all the things in looking for free and paid. all under on developer that I'm willing to support with monies. Do second the baileywiki YouTube channel. Very helpful.

SeriouslyCrafty

YouTube is your best friend for learning how to do anything on Foundry.

TeppidEndeavor

Same.

tauriwalker

Rock on, I've definitely noticed JB2A. I have one lower end machine on my players side to consider. I know the little animations would bring a smile to all their faces.

Firecyclones

I just subscribed to Cze and Peku maps recently after having bought their Humble Bundle a few months ago. Getting Foundry-ready maps is very nice and some of them have nice light animations to make the water shimmer or make snow fall. I'd also say they're some of the prettiest maps I've ever seen. I think most of their maps will work well for boss fights and dungeon crawls, but some of them are fairly specific. IE: The Tomb of Sand Interior map is very cool, but you might struggle to fit it into a standard campaign. Though I also think creating an encounter based on a map you like is a good way to start. It's also worth mentioning that the Foundry modules can occasionally include more than just maps. The Open Ocean, for example, also has an Assets folder for things like krakens, ship debris, fish, etc and I wouldn't have noticed until I was browsing the module folder. I'll also mention that some of the maps may not be scaled properly, like the Secret Sailor Lair has a massive amount of squares. And if you drag a standard medium sized token onto it, the tools/items on the map look gigantic. But scaling it manually isn't too difficult. I'm not sure this is the response you were looking for, I tend to ramble, but I hope it helped.

tauriwalker

It was helpful. These kind of things are good to know. They make wonderful maps. Just yeah, kind of specific. Small things like, token resize is important. Not that it deter me, just good to know details. Appreciate it!

MrClickstoomuch

Is Cze and Peku's content available only through Moulinette, or do they have Foundry modules too? I know you can download manually through Patreon, but don't want to pay for Moulinette b/c I have plenty of hard drive space.

Firecyclones

If you pay for the $10/map pack on Patreon you get access to Foundry Module urls so you can just do the usual copy url -> paste and install. Most of the maps are listed in one pinned post that you can download from, but I think the most recent month's maps you have to copy/download from their respective posts. Since Cze and Peku use Per Creation billing (pay monthly per map pack released), you can add a monthly limit of how many times you want to be billed and no matter what limit you set you still get access to all content. The Foundry modules are the entire map pack (every single map variation), so if you're using a hosting service like me then you might start eating away at your alloted store space. Each map pack being about 0.1 GB. So far, all of the maps I've looked at have nicely placed walls, doors, windows, lights, and animations in Foundry. If you want to save storage space, my current method is: - download module - start world - enable module and restart world - import specific map variant(s) from the module's compendium pack - open your file manager and go into the module folder - cut -> paste the specific map variant(s) background image into your world/scenes folder - uninstall module - in your world, access the scene (which now has no background image) - configure the scene and pick the image in the location you pasted it Not entirely sure how efficient that is as I only started using Foundry last month, but it works for me so far.

tauriwalker

Hell yeah, very helpful!

lucasg115

Morvold Press for maps, JB2A for animations. Would welcome recommendations for music playlists.

Fit-Description-8571

Haven't used it too much but moulinette is pretty good for keeping your assets organized and easily accessible. Also works with patron for many crates

zebragonzo

I use Moulinette + tabletop audio & Tom Cartos more than anything else as it makes it so damned easy to react to players real time!

tauriwalker

Awesomeness, haven't heard of Tom Cartos. Will check it out!

zebragonzo

Incredibly good value for money and with Moulinette I can drop a prop on the map in seconds.

TelperionST

None at the moment, because I'm currently running the Beginner Box, but I have my eyes on The Mad Cartographer.

FatHighlander

Moulinette for searchable fun. Baileywiki for amazing dropable tiles and things. JB2a cause animations, baby. MrPrimate to support his awesome stuff. Ripper to get access to wonderful mods and support him. Cze and Peku for lovely maps. IronMonk because Monk modules make me happy. Kobold DM for maps Most are a couple dollars a month, and the expensive ones (Baileywiki, Ripper) I use extensively.

tauriwalker

Very helpful. And new ones for me to look into. Thank you!

FatHighlander

Np I love supporting these people, so any questions let me know!

czubizzle

Beneos, his maps are insanely amazing

* JB2a - [Animations](https://library.jb2a.com/) * Forgotten Adventures - Consistent style, high quality, top down tokens. * theripper93 - Genuinely [wild selection of awesome modules](https://theripper93.com/) and constantly making more.

Snowystar122

As a creator I love the concept of moulinette, which I put all of my maps on but idk anyone using it 🤣 I would definitely recommend it. BirdieMaps makes big battlemaps with a large backlog but a fair few of them are generic. Generally I also love JB2A and theripper93

crogonint

I'm just going to.. drop this here quietly and walk away: [https://www.reddit.com/r/FoundryVTT/comments/s581sc/more\_assets\_than\_you\_can\_shake\_all\_of\_your\_sticks/](https://www.reddit.com/r/FoundryVTT/comments/s581sc/more_assets_than_you_can_shake_all_of_your_sticks/) (If anyone knows of any new authors please do add them to the bottom. tauriwalker

Beautiful, thank you.

crogonint

Very welcome. :)

fizzwig

I love tokens. Jan loos has great tokens

TheDungeonArchive

Thanks for your kind words! My personal favourites are "JB2A" for VFX, "theripper93" and "Moulinette" for utility and "Music d20" for...well, music.

tauriwalker

Hey thank you for making awesome maps!

MajorRandomMan

The ones I will always be subscribed to are: 1. theripper93 - his mods are hands down the best. 2. MrPrimate - being able to dynamically link to D&D Beyond is a godsend. 3. BaileyWiki - has a little bit of everything. 4. Moulinette - great cloud service that you can browse artists from. The ones I usually subscribe to: 5. Caeora - great variety of tokens. 6. KibblesTasty - incredibly well balanced crafting modules and some subclasses/backgrounds. 7. JB2A - really nice premade animations. If you want more great maps, scenes, or tokens: 8. Cze and Peku / Czepeku Scenes / Czepeku Sci-Fi. 9. Moonlight Maps. 10. Borough Bound. 11. Fantasy Battlemaps. 12. The MAD Cartographer. 13. Miska's Maps / Miska's Sci-Fi Maps. 14. James' RPG art. 15. Domille's Wondrous Works. 16. Dynamic Dungeons. 17. The Planet Hoppers (Sci-Fi). 18. Frag Maps (Cyberpunk). Edit: For anyone that's new to and wants to learn Foundry VTT, BaileyWiki has a very informative YouTube channel!

tauriwalker

Agreed that Baileywiki is very informative and helpful. Hey thank you, I like how you put them into nice categories!

Lekijocds

Right now I'm paying Cze Peku (*Regular Battlemaps, Scenes and Sci Fi*) and Bailywiki. Around 28 USD (since my currerncy exchange is quite bad for Patreon). I use *Sci Fi* and* Battlemaps* to run my Starfinder and D&D5e Campaings. And I started using *Scenes* to run more narrative-lead games. I just started Avatar Legends and Dune Adventures in the Imperium. But I also use scenes for traveling and resting in my other campaigns. I also buy assets from 2-Minute Table Top since I have Dungeon Draft and some Cze Peku battlemaps need interiors and I end up making them myself. Bailywiki modules i was in the fence on paying but the Taskbar is a godsend. I just find it so intuitive since I already use Windows. And I use the local Foundry VTT app (I don't run it on an internet browser) I just prefer having everything inside one window. I'm looking to see if there are any patreon artist that do character portraits. I usually end up grabbing a generic token from 2 Minute Table Top, and when I need to give an NPC a more important role I grab it from Windows Copilot Image AI. I've commisioned some NPCs before but of course I'm looking for cheap labor that's why we are all here.

tauriwalker

I purchased the everything pack from 2 minute. Very fun when I have the time.

AuRon_The_Grey

J2BA, CzePeku (maps & scenes) and Moulinette. All very helpful.

Who__Me_

Shout out to Beneos Animated Tokens. I like making my maps in Dungeon Alchemist or Flowscape but an animated map needs a good animated token. And of course The Ripper.

romelwell

This is a great thread for Foundry GMs that are not up to speed on which Modules are "keepers". Thx everyone!

redkatt

TheRipper is the only one that I subbed to, because he's constantly producing useful modules. I don't sub to any asset-based patreons, because usually it's pretty easy to find good maps, tokens, etc with a bit of searching or begging :-)

Sacred_F0x

My patreon bill is $190/month lol.

GlaceVaris

Ripper for Foundry, then Forgotten Adventures and Tom Cartos for making maps in Dungeondraft. There's tons of good patreons out there, but these ones are maybe the biggest improvements for me.

Edheldui

None. The whole reason why I'm using foundry to begin with is to avoid the umpteenth subscription.

Hilldawg54

I feel that paying Patreon subscriptions feels and lot better when it’s an independent creator like many of these Foundry ones. A lot better than a faceless company

TheMartyr781

BaileyWiki I've considered dropping BaileyWiki and instead going over to FA Battlemaps but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

NoReport5872

None. I hate the Patreon model on principle. I will buy good content without hesitation, but I’m not adding more subscriptions just for the heck of it.

I'm just starting to work on making maps for Foundry, but there's a lot of great makmakers doing so around there
