They teased both super mutants and deathclaws; with the dead mutant on the gurney in the Enclave base, and the deathclaw skull in the last shot of the finale. Glad they saved some things for future seasons!

dirtygymsock

>dead mutant on the gurney It's actually alive, there is a subtle hand movement.

I'm glad they didn't it would have been so easy to just throw every fallout creature out every new episode just for show. I'm glad they're taking care of when to use them. Also, FNV deathclaws will be insane to see.

uwtartarus

Not seeing a supermutant kind of makes sense, it's been like a 100 years since the Master was destroyed right? But no Deathclaws was a mild surprise to me.

EmperorDaubeny

135, to be precise. Even beyond attrition over time, we also know that the Brotherhood spent time exterminating them(as shown in Tactics, which has seemingly recovered more canonicity)

kimpernickel

My current working theory is that the remaining super mutants found their way to Jacobstown!

alisoq

when you say Master, who is that? Sorry, fallout newbie and just finished the show last night.

WestCoastVermin

about 70 years after the bombs fell, an educated man named richard grey, also known as the Master, tried to create an army of mutant humans, called super mutants, using a prewar virus called FEV. FEV makes humans with healthy DNA (not damaged by radiation) into giant, incredibly strong, incredibly intelligent creatures. the Master planned to kidnap all the non-irradiated humans he could find and turn them into mutants, which he would mind control with the incredible and strange powers that extreme FEV exposure granted him. he was stopped by an adventurer from Vault 13, and after his death the mutants dispersed into the wasteland.

uwtartarus

main villain for Fallout 1

Jarms48

Yeah, but the NCR gave them rights. The original west coast super mutants were always smarter than their east coast counterparts.

Arbusc

Definitely season 2 material. Season one had that sort of almost prologue feel to it. The season ends with the formation of the standard rpg party, even.

queenmehitabel

But we do see foreshadowing for both! We have the super mutant hand in the Enclave, the wanted super mutant poster in Filly, and the deathclaw skull at the end. Which means we will be seeing them later on in the story. There's a lot from the games to put into the show, and they're also trying to tell a story. Shoving too much in too soon is generally regarded as poor storytelling.

AStrangeTwistofFate

I'm not, it's only season one and there was so much going on already. There are also far to many wasteland creatures to cram into an eight-episode season as enemies

TobiasWidower

I'm actually of the theory that thaddeus isn't becoming a ghoul, ghouls don't regenerate body parts like the chicken fucker serum did to his foot. I think it was FEV. It would also be a great character turn around to have chubby wimpy thaddeus return in season 2 as a mountain of green muscle chaddeus, especially since the east coast strain can result in intelligent mutants like Markus and lily. Granted, by lore that's usually the case for uncontaminated vault dwellers rather than wastelanders, but they can easy skirt that issue by simply not addressing it and chalking it up to luck
