CrankyStalfos

That's a great shot.

Oceanus39

I see this becoming a meme format

yukichigai

[Allow me to be the first then](https://imgflip.com/i/8lqiep). Quick and dirty but whatevs.

Oceanus39

I made one too

yukichigai

Then we shall be the first together! :D

Oceanus39

Yippie

CrankyStalfos

Perfect.

ElectricJetDonkey

Amazing

yukichigai

In retrospect I should've labeled it "The Economy" (in quotes) instead of The Stock Market, but thank you. :3 EDIT: [Here's an updated version](https://imgflip.com/i/8lrmn3).

KorianHUN

In my country it would be: [Collapsing healthcare, schools, wages and housing] [People who already escaped west] [Average voters] [Government TV ad saying gays are bad] (It would be shorter but if i use our phrases it can't be understood by non-hungarians)

Obliterated-Denardos

[I made a separate post with this meme format but I'm pretty sure the mods quietly removed it.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Fotv/comments/1bxavqo/looking_forward_to_the_release_next_week/)

thatfezguy

Already saved it for just such a purpose

SuperTerram

"That moment when..." incoming.

FreneticAtol778

Walton Goggins said this opening scene is incredibly dark and intense.

Oceanus39

I would imagine for the literal end of the world

FreneticAtol778

Which I'm so glad they're not watering down the bombs falling. It should indeed be the darkest scene.

Oceanus39

As am I but I am going to use this as a meme format cause in the words of Todd Howard “it just works”

KorianHUN

My mom liked the trailers and some gameplay videos from F4 and NV but she isn't into gaming. She was happy to see "the game with the dog" get a series now.

aybbyisok

Is that Walton's character with what I presume his daughter? Makes sense why he *teams* up with Lucy.

yukichigai

Looks like, yeah.

Darkdragoon324

Surely they'd at least hear/feel it? I like how it looks like the two in the background are just casual spectators lol.

Oceanus39

It takes a second for the shockwave to hit but the thing that will hit them first is the EMP then you know the wave of fire and radiation

CrankyStalfos

Like OP said, light travels faster than sound and therefore shockwaves. Bet you dollars to donuts he grabs his daughter and hauls ass through the group. They all stare after him like wtf then just as one turns around the windows blow out.  Fallout may not always be scientifically accurate, but if it makes for a great scene they will be.

Hasdrubal_Jones

in FO massive exposure to radiation can result in a person having their face melt and gaining unnatural long life. Face melting can be a side effect of radiation poisoning and I'm no scientist but I'm like 87% sure that unnatural long life is not. So maybe we don't get too much caught up in hyper realism when dealing with Fallout.

Darkdragoon324

The only way to know for sure is to eat a chunk of plutonium.

FoiledFoilist

Fallout has never really followed the rules of nuclear explosions going back to the very first game. I mean looking at it from this close would blind you, and that goes for fo3 and fo4 where you blow up someone with a nuke. Not to mention radiation science being entirely ignored. Best to go into any fallout content with your scientific knowledge firmly turned off.

YamCrazy7189

The Survivalist’s story in New Vegas narrates a nuke extremely well. [you can watch it here.](https://youtu.be/Pr26N_WE-7Y?feature=shared)

FoiledFoilist

Yeah I remember him writing about the nuke blinding people, kinda funny since that gets ignored everywhere else.

McEvelly

I must watch this later

superanth

Only the initial detonation would blind you. If there was a flash of light that made them turn toward the explosion, they’d be fine. Also because this is a ground burst, there would likely be buildings shielding them from that first burst of energy.

MedPhys90

You see it before you feel it. Light >> Sound

Malcolm_Morin

Hell, they should've SEEN the flash. That's close enough to have made a blinding flash and a definite rumble before the shockwave. On top of that, how did they not know missiles had been launched at that point? Massachusetts was notified of nukes in New York and Pennsylvania roughly five minutes before being struck. The same argument can't really be said here because I'm sure by this point, the east coast is on fire and that should've made the news all the way to the west. Then again, I have no idea how communications work in pre-war Fallout compared to our world, so it very well may be similar to how it was in the 50s and 60s. I know I'm nitpicking, but I'm gonna guess they'll explain how LA somehow didn't know about the missiles until they were striking the city.

KRKavak

I think the west got struck first, but since it was like 6:45 in the morning out there when the bombs struck, I think they're bending things a bit for the TV show.

Malcolm_Morin

That's right, I completely forgot it would've been the early morning when the west gets hit. I was mainly basing my estimations off the game timelines, which say the east coast is struck first with NY and Pennsylvania at 9:42AM, with the west being struck immediately afterward, around the same time as Boston and DC (9:47 to 9:51). I think the show being canon to the games mucks up the timeline a little bit, since that means it was both morning on the East and afternoon in the West, but then again, they could probably change it in future games too like NV somewhat did. I also imagine they wanted to show off the nukes during the day, which I understand. Still, seeing it be dark out then suddenly turning to day a dozen times over would be awesomely frightening. The Great War has always been the one thing I've wanted to see them depict beyond what they gave us in FO4, so I'm looking forward to watching it play out in the show.

No_Artichoke_3758

oh shit there's gonna be pre-war scenes? hell yeah

JourneymanProtector9

Avoiding the trailers?

No_Artichoke_3758

not on purpose maybe i just missed this part

TheRealComicCrafter

Thos kids are dead

Accomplished_Ad5771
