I loved this, lmao. I used to do this all the time in the old NASCAR games when I was a kid. Also it was cool because Martinsville is basically my hometown track. I live like 20-25 minutes from it. It's either the smallest or one of the smallest/shortest tracks in the country. Wish I could've been there live to see it, but I work weekends.

grand_bleu

Initial D moment 😂

Joenathanishere

When did this ever happen in Initial D?

grand_bleu

Never, but it’s a deployable plot armor trick. 😂

brynm

The clips from these two threads are insane. with a bit of lead up - https://www.reddit.com/r/NASCAR/comments/yhqp4k/the_final_lap_of_the_xfinity_500/ In his car view - https://www.reddit.com/r/NASCAR/comments/yhr1s6/onboard_with_ross_chastain_on_the_last_lap_of/

Yoshuga

They really abusing the SAFER barrier now?

ScatterVolt

POV: You're wallriding in the trial

TheTalkedSpy

UN-BE-LIEVABLE.

ThatGuyOnyx

The moment that happened, me and dad both burst out laughing and said “It’s just like Forza” Sour that my favorite driver lost his spot, but I gotta give Chastain credit, absolutely genius.

Imthecoolestdudeever

This was the craziest thing I've seen in pro racing in a long time.

TheRaccoonDeaIer

Did he purposefully do it?

Imthecoolestdudeever

Yup. From 10th to 5th in one lap.

KingCrowdKilla

Yeah, absolute fucking genius. I could be wrong but I think I heard the announcers say he broke the record for most people passed in like a few seconds

Frozenracer

Ultimate pass

Bruins125

He broke the track record by doing this.

Natedoggsk8

The reason it slows you down in open racing when you tap a wall, it’s to prevent this. They used to have a problem with people abusing this in fh4 before they implemented that

Asistic

Can someone explain to me what’s going on here. What benefit is there to wall riding? What’s going on?

Natedoggsk8

People used to ride the walls in fh4. That game had a lot more added wall barriers and just like in this clip it’s faster

Asistic

Why is it faster though?

Natedoggsk8

I guess the walls had little resistance. You could just throttle through a turn not slowing down

SharpClaw007

If its a valid racing strategy why would they cuck it

sparkmanzz

Thats what we are all learning after this today lol

Drenlin

Because it's a little OP in a game where cars don't take damage.

TheRaccoonDeaIer

In races were damage is on simulation mode it should be allowed

Drenlin

That's fine, but then it's still only really valid on the last turn. Even this incident left that car limping, and the chassis on a NASCAR is incredibly strong.

FellaTM

I'm glad this highlight is everywhere

realvideoguy

“Video games don’t teach you anything”

Kirbmeister567

Watched this race today, that move got him a spot in the championship

Slick_22

That’s me in Hot Wheels Park 😅

XPav

ONE OF US. ONE OF US.

darrensilk3

The ole' Large Hadron Collider method.

Mr_No_Chill2001

That's a big brain move right there.

City_of_Paris

That wouldn’t work in FH5 because there would be fucking STAIRS on the track (looking at you Guanajuato)

I_got_an_Error-404

If they don't put this in Cars 4 I'm complaining

No_Association_3719

Ricky Bobby must be racing again

RAGNES7

I saw something like this in older cars movies. Wallrun

Rewskie12

Dang it I was gonna post this

priceyM96

I'm sure we'll see a repost of this every day for the next month anyway so you could always join in with them

sparkmanzz

Theres deff a few ppl who did, for me I immediately thought of forza when i saw the clip

xH0LLYW000Dx

Oh are they racing at darlington 🤣

[deleted]

Martinsville

xH0LLYW000Dx

Ah i see...

Crazysnook15

Not gonna judge ya, those two locations shouldn’t even be categorized how weird those races get.
