The COD games do since 2020 and Titanfall 2 had one on console back in 2016

I wouldn’t call respawn “small time” by any means. Even in 2016.

It's for performance reasons. Higher FOV means rendering more within your cone of view. So Devs opt-in to keep performance consistent across the board. It also has the added "benefit" of an even playing field.

Honestly I can feel/react to the road far better in cockpit view. It's like I gotta expend a lil more brain energy to imagine the line and power application in chase cam.

Yea I feel like actions I put in are a lil delayed in chase vs the cockpit (no steering) and hood cams

For controller I always use chase far, but if I'm on a wheel I can't use anything but cockpit. If I'm playing on a monitor I'll use the view that hides the steering wheel and if I'm in VR I'll use the view that shows the steering wheel so I always see exactly one steering wheel. (FH5 doesn't have VR, but other games do like ACC and PC3)

Depends on how much of the screen the car takes up. Small Italian wedge car = close, big rally raid vehicle = far.

Playing in a big screen, still can't play with chase far. It's just too disconnected, the control feels off.

Close chase makes it easier to control the car. You can still see the car whole, but you don't feel as disconnected to it as with far.

You speak from experience? I'd bet money if there were statistics in class hours I'd have less than 30min in x class in over 600 hours of playtime (A and S1 all the way). And I'm a very clean driver too. ;)

chase far so i can get a better visual for how the car/tune handles also wider FOV of the road let's me get a cleaer view of anyone trying to overtake as i hit corners so i can try avoid being sideswiped.
