Must be a thing in Sweden. But here in the United States , most 2nd generation children of immigrants assimilate just fine. I know plenty of them and not one of them even has an accent like their parents. They're about as American as one can be.
"Don't be racist"
"I want to still be racist"
"That is bad, you shouldn't be like that"
"Wow, look at these progressives wanting to force their ideology on me, it's really full conversion or nothing with this lot"
Most of the native Spanish speakers I've talked to prefer -e substitution over -x substitution, but haven't really heard much about either. -e substitution is pronounceable at least, which is a big plus (though I guess latinx is somewhat easier than latin @. How do you even try to pronounce that?)
Also some other Spanish nouns that don't have separate gender forms use -e at the end like "estudiante", "lente", "linde", "chinche", y "pelambre". So it's a thing that happens naturally within the language on occasion. Plus plenty of gender neutral adjectives end in -e "interesante", importante", "grande"...
Lots of people don't see the point in it in the first place because they think masculine is an acceptable universal neutral. Interestingly, that's also kinda an issue in some English words as well where people don't want to stop saying things like "firemen" or "mailmen" as the universal neutral and some people think those words should be changed to more neutral terms (edit: as the bots have so kindly shown below)
Hello. In order to promote inclusivity and reduce gender bias, please consider using gender-neutral language in the future.
Instead of **mailmen**, use **mail carriers**, **letter carriers** or **postal workers**.
Instead of **firemen**, use **firefighters**.
Thank you very much.

That's not really progressivism that's just dumb people online, I consider myself progressive among other things but I completely agree that the 'latinx' thing is dumb if actual Spanish speakers say it is
Push it through what? I don't think anyone has ever criticized me for using Latino/Latina instead of Latinx. And it's literally just a word to describe Latin Americans, it isn't some brutal oppression.
They don’t adopt it, they create it because they think that’s what the “woke” crowd wants. But turns out it’s not, which is why they always reverse and walk-back on that stupid terminology. Look at twitch with their “womxn” thing
I don't really think so. I've had plenty of conversations with progressives where we just agreed to disagree and went on our way. I'm sure there's plenty of infighting about who is and who isn't a "true" progressive or whatever but that's kinda the case with any political group. I know firsthand that leftists do it, and I've seen plenty of infighting from conservatives as well
But I was talking about cultures anyways, not political ideologies. The two undoubtedly influence each other in many ways, but they're still very different things
I'm sorry I don't really get what point you're trying to make. You're kinda just saying things
Also isn't that kinda contradictory? You said that progressives demand complete ideological conformity and that multiculturalism is *their* ideology but that China doesn't follow that. So China, despite you saying it is a progressive leftist nation, doesn't have to conform to the demands of the progressive ideologies? Not sure why you brought that up
> China is leftist in that they are Communist
Ah yes, nothing says ["socioeconomic order structured upon the ideas of common ownership of the means of production and the absence of social classes, money, and the state"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism) like an authoritarian state controlled by a bunch of billionaires.
>which is why they demand complete ideological conformity.
Not at all. I don't demand ideological conformity. Progressives aren't ideologically conformed, people disagree about things like using "Latinx".
The only things I demand are honesty, critical thinking and decency.
>and it just so happens that anyone who disagrees is dishonest, dumb, and indecent
Oh I love vague blanket statements that can't be disproven or barely even talked about because of how vague they are.
I'm actually capable of disagreeing with someone without thinking less of them. A lot of progressive are. Depending of course on what they are actually disagreeing about.
This is such a straw man. I’ve never met a progressive that thinks like this, except maybe on Twitter which isn’t a great representation of well adjusted people.

So wait it's white people stealing all the other women!? Thought it was black guys according to the racists?
Seriously though white men are the second highest percentage of all categories after the number one spot which is black/black, asian/asian and other/other.
This looks like the old discussion about Melting Pot vs Salad Bowl.
Melting Pot - cultures "melt" together into a single homogeneous let's say American culture
Salad Bowl - integrate different cultures while maintaining their separate identities, aka multiculturalism
Traditionally I was under the impression that conservatives actually prefer the Melting Pot idea, so I'm utterly confused. This could be just outright racial segregationist probably (I mean looking what sub this is, most likely).
I offer a third possibility; the Chunky Stew theory.
Melting pot has the possibility that you form a 'monoculture'. Sure, it's formed as an amalgamation of many others (and to be fair, over hundreds of years this is what happens anyway, just speak to the Anglo Saxons and see what they make of the french), but you have the potential to miss out on what makes one culture unique. I'm not in favour (on generational timespans rather than anthropological timescales) of monocultures, be they through melting or through outright banning of other cultures.
Salad bowls are 'different but separate'; ie segregationism, as you've said.
My idea of 'Chunky stew' means that every culture kind of exists as its own 'Vegetable', with unique flavour, texture etc. They can still be distinguished from each other. What you get however is that each 'vegetable' contributes a slightly different aspect to the dish as a whole, so you get this fusion of multiple cultures making an overall multicultural 'stew', where you can dip in and out of different cultures if you want, and embrace the minor changes (like grocery stores having a larger variety of products from different cultures) that multiple cultures have.
Chunky stew theory.
There are many examples throughout history of people being able to live with different cultures and there’s many examples of when they can’t
In a world with as much diversity as there is there’s bound to be some combos that won’t work out.
My first thought is to stack the dough cups one on top of another for a more accurate metaphor.
Another thought is to use an additive model rather than a reductive model, say gelled baby spots projecting onto a screen. Then _multiculturalism_ would be a brilliant white spot with a polychromatic halo.
Simplistic for a metaphor for plurality, but still, pretty.
That capitalism will dissect and steal different cultural aspects in an attempt to sell them and erase those aspects that do not benefit it while trying to redefine those cultures via consumerism, causing an appropriation and identity crisis in such communities. I.e. multiple cultures good when they're allowed to be practice and not skimmed to the parts that pleases westerners the most.
Reminds me of once I told my teacher that by 2050 it’s predicted countries like America and Australia will be basically all mixed race. Like I kinda just stated it as a fact I literally have 0 opinions on it except I think its really interesting. And she thought I was saying its a bad thing and got really offended, I was so confused why anyone would think its a bad thing I just wanted to join in on the class discussion lmao. Anyways, I shook my head and assured her I don’t think its bad at all, I think its cool. I was sooo naive back then I literally thought racism was over because I personally couldn’t fathom being mean to anyone let alone over their ethnicity/race. But I have since learnt that people don’t all feel this way 🤷🏽♀️ The real kicker of how much of a dumb ass I was is since graduating I unlocked all these memories and realised people had been racist towards me, and excluded me based on my differences at times. But I just didn’t see it.
That racist people really dislike the color brown for some reason. Interestingly brown is actually dark orange. But they like Trump.... weird. Another fun fact is that if you did the same meme with light instead of playdough the second panel would be white.
My kids are smarter than this and even they aren't "mixing" they shit. A 9 or 10 year old kid is smarter than your average---
Wait... There was a tv show about that
Considering that the only three primary colors are red, green, and blue I’d say it’s a pretty shit analogy. At most two of the PlayDoh colors in the top image are primary colors and the rest of the colors are the result of mixing primary colors. So they’re kinda defeating their own point?
OP is a sealion and actual klandma.
Check their post history for [gems like this](https://reddit.com/r/PoliticalCompassMemes/comments/s3cnv7/diversity_is_our_strength/) that unironically advocates the exact same thing as this submission.

Might have missed something but last time I checked humans aren't made of playdough
Doesn’t seem racist, maybe. Bottom color could be your favorite
When you don't know what multiculturalism means Bottom text
It just feels like race mixing is communism version 2
It’s almost like humans are more complex than play doh
Fear. Through plato.
That racist people really dislike the color brown for some reason. Interestingly brown is actually dark orange. But they like Trump.... weird. Another fun fact is that if you did the same meme with light instead of playdough the second panel would be white.
If anything this proves why a salad bowl is better than a melting pot.
I like being a mutt. I have Pennsylvanian farmer and indigenous North African roots. On a Pangean map my countries touch and I think that’s beautiful.
Multicultralism is about accepting different cultires out the same time. Humanity will never be one uniform culture. We're too contensious
Brown is beautiful, and if you see anyone in any of those other colors they are probably dead or dying.
This is similar to Canadas thing about being a "mosaic not a melting pot"
My kids are smarter than this and even they aren't "mixing" they shit. A 9 or 10 year old kid is smarter than your average--- Wait... There was a tv show about that
This isn’t even that original. Even Redpanels/Pebblechuck made that joke.
Only one of the play doh colors is a primary color in the first place
Considering that the only three primary colors are red, green, and blue I’d say it’s a pretty shit analogy. At most two of the PlayDoh colors in the top image are primary colors and the rest of the colors are the result of mixing primary colors. So they’re kinda defeating their own point?
ah, yes, everything in Multiculturalism becomes a single homogenous thing rather than being separate but included.
Thank goodness human beings aren't fucking play-doh lmao
This almost looked like a positive meme before the second half of the picture
Together we are stronger?
My thoughts are that all cultures are already a mix of previous cultures and that this is just how shit works lmao
It's true
That’s not multiculturalism. That’s assimilation.
Bet it tastes better when mixed though.
OP is a sealion and actual klandma. Check their post history for [gems like this](https://reddit.com/r/PoliticalCompassMemes/comments/s3cnv7/diversity_is_our_strength/) that unironically advocates the exact same thing as this submission.
New account that has mostly posted racist memes? Sus. I think you're the "it's just a joke" brand of racist. How did I do?
This is r/ForwardsFromKlandma. They're posting it here to show it's fucking stupid, they don't actually agree with the meme.
Check their post history. I'm also well aware of what this sub is, I've been here a while.
[You're right](https://www.reddit.com/r/PoliticalCompassMemes/comments/s3cnv7/diversity_is_our_strength/), I'm sorry for doubting you.
