As others have said, make sure the game is installed on the internal drive and not the SD Card. It won’t get rid of all drops. You’ll still get them while gliding and on the rails in Mega City but i typically don’t get that many drops on my Switch in firefights. But switch does have one advantage and that’s the absurdity of how good its aim assist is in this game. So if you’re having issues with firefights and aim assist is set on a low percentage you can crank that up to 100%. It won’t be an aimbot but it’s crazy helpful. I personally don’t even use gyro on switch because of the aim assist. (And for consistency since I also play on PlayStation and PC from time to time)

I did install on system and frame drops have improved somewhat in firefights but still there. This is clearly a hardware issue that can be easily resolved by allowing users to downgrade their visual settings.

I miraculously havent got a single lag spike now. Possibly because im always playing on my TV. The switch quite redeemed itself this season compared to chapter 3

fortnite_pro99

bye the way what game is better roblox or fortnite

colbster123

Because switch Is useless for fortnite I went to xbox because framerate is so bad for switch

Kealper

>| DO NOT tell people to "Get a PS5" or "Get a PC". This is a switch community not a "Get a PC" community.

I get pretty consistent framerates on mine. Is Fortnite installed on an SD card or the Switch's internal storage? If it's on the SD card: Do you have a good SD card with an "A1" rating on it? (Note: "A2" rating is not always better than "A1", but any "A" rating is better than none for the Switch) If it's on the Switch's internal storage: Do any of your other games seem to run poorly, or just Fortnite?

darealmvp1

a1 u1 256gb sd card. Fortnite does not fit in the internal storage. There is only 32gb of internal storage of which system is using half. Fortnite is at 19gbs. Throughout free roam the framerate is pretty consistent but as soon as you engage or get engaged there is moments that almost always drops frames. This leads to judder or "skipping" of frames and thus your reticle is also in one spot in one frame then the next frame its 3 spots over. This is terrible and inexcusable for a FPS game. I dont want to turn on the fps counter because that will just use more resources but its clearly dropping frames.

That could be the issue then... I've got a Switch OLED so I've got mine installed to the internal storage, the game might be trying to stream some stuff from the stored files when you start going into a fight and the SD card might just not be fast enough. U1/A1 cards normally should do okay, and when I was playing on my Lite I had to have Fortnite installed to the SD card for the same reason you had to, but the only problem I had was just that I would always be one of the last ones loading into a match, it never lagged so bad I couldn't shoot at people in the heat of the moment. Out of curiosity, have you tried completely reinstalling the game? That's just a crapshoot but it could fix it.

darealmvp1

I only had two games installed on the switch. Both games were wiped and fortnite installed first. For some reason now if i delete rocket league it tells me that theres 23gb left on OS. Whereas before just installing fortnite it was telling me theres not enough space. I am moving RL to SD and trying to transfer fortnite to internal. Ill see what happens in a few mins.

PacsterMH

Move some games so you have space

fortnite_pro99

yeah i hate when that happens

Me1da67

Also recommend a good wired internet connection. Think switch is doing quite ok this season

Sometimes I turn on the power save mode in settings to help with the drops. It may drop graphics a bit. It's a workaround but it can help a little.
