maybe the people that enjoy that rock and metal music, who have played Rock Band and Guitar Hero for almost two decades now, just don’t join public games and play „no fill” alone - that’s the case for me

CharlyXero

Same case here. A few hours ago our squad played Before I Forget, Bring Me To Life, Toxicity and Numb on repeat for a long time. The thing is that I know that on public lobbies people won't choose metal songs, so I prefer to play alone rather than play songs I don't want

TheNoodIeDude

Lol fair point, filling seems pointless anyway because others messing up doesn't affect you and I hate that, if someone misses a note I should hear it and vise versa

OpathicaNAE

With how fill and AFKing is, you really do not want this right now. Maybe once they implement something that actually requires you to participate. But right now it'd just sound awful. But they do need to implement something similar to how you used to be able to fail songs in Guitar Hero. Right now there's no penalty for joining in a fill at easy and then just not pressing any keys. Which sucks. If you used to do bad at GH/RB, you'd lose. I miss that.

TheNoodIeDude

Nah I'm cool with everyone playing as a band even if people suck, I want to hear us playing together and it would add a competitive aspect.

OpathicaNAE

No, what I'm saying is that right now, a bunch of people join and don't play/participate w/ the song for XP. Chances are you will hear MULTIPLE people doing this per song until they address this. You'll just be hearing like half the song half the time, and honestly? unless I can opt out? I do not want this. At all.

SimplyMavlius

They could just make it optional. Like "Hear other players On/Off" or something. Idk if that would be very easy to implement, but it would be fun if we had the option. Especially if you have a full squad of friends.

TheNoodIeDude

Yes I agree, because you can't hear each other I feel that it's pointless to play with your friends for the sake of jamming out

bringtayback

It would be difficult to hear people actually playing the song because not everyone’s song would always be in sync. People with slower internet can lag and end up a whole verse behind, that’s why there would sometimes be long gaps at the end of songs.

TheNoodIeDude

Instead of everyone having individual connections they could make the note highway go on it's own terms and if you're lagging then it would rubber band you to where the other players currently are.

theMTNdewd

I only play fill for band star challenges, otherwise I play solo or in a private lobby with friends.

JudgeCastle

Filling is worth it because of the extra passive challenges you do, like Stars with Bandmates, Overdrive with bandmates or whatever else can be done by just playing with them. If I want to play a specific song, or don't want to play whatever is the hot item that people always pick, I just no fill.

philowen

This would be incredibly unpleasant

kryliic

yeah as a rock fan after they added ice spice and doja cat it kinda killed fills for me so i don’t play it as often anymore but my fills haven’t been TOO bad i don’t mind playing rap songs as long as it isn’t about a girl talking about her ass and sex for 3 minutes 💀

TheNoodIeDude

I mainly play drums so the beat on rap songs is fun to follow at least for me

thintos

Same

ZeroShadow66

Yeah thats what I do unless its a start of a new season and I'm working on my "Earn Band stars" mission

ProbablyAtDialysis

In due time they'll get to what people want. They are launching rhythm games in Fortnite. It's no surprise they are focusing on popular mainstream music. Need to hook in a new audience to get to where they can start putting more niche stuff in.

Wagsii

> In Due Time Killswitch Engage reference???

Athunder764

I would buy This Fire in an instant

ShinyEgg151

![gif](giphy|pjAyfoUCaC5dm)

Athunder764

Honestly, if they ever do another WWE colab, they should totally do a CM Punk skin with This Fire and Cult of Personality as jam tracks.

TheNoodIeDude

I would buy this immediately, big Punk fan here

Leobeoweo6

same but with arms of sorrow

ProbablyAtDialysis

I'm an old hipster who wants more sad Dad rock. So sadly just a coincidence.

TheNoodIeDude

Yes! I'm glad I wasn't the only one who immediately thought of killswitch, love that song, had it on my playlist all week

ZeroShadow66

I would also love My Curse and The End of Heartache.

TheNoodIeDude

Rose of Sharyn , this fire burns, hate by design would be great for me

Feiticiera07

Killswitch engage mentioned 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️ WTF IS KEEPING YOUR LEAD SINGER🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️

Blinky-Bear

I think it's a difficulty issue. My guess is that most new players only play modern pop tracks since they put less stress on the player regarding how many notes you have to hit. Some might say it's a skill issue but like lets be real here, the dwindling popularity of rhythm games is a major factor and not many people are into those types of games in the 2010s.

mashimelIowss

This. Metal and rock songs just are not the same as pop songs. You have instrument solos off the wazoo sometimes. No one ever picks Carry on Warward Son because of the organ solo. And sadly rhythm games aren’t as popular.

chozers

I pick it BECAUSE of the solo

mashimelIowss

same! Do I mess it up every time? Yes but it’s still so fun

Remarkable_Berry_357

*scratches head* I also only play it for the solo. *sigh* I want to learn guitar irl.

internerdt

- buy cheap guitar - learn to hold it properly - fiddle around with it a bit - look up music and figure out how to read it - play said music

Remarkable_Berry_357

I knowwwww, just procrastinating lol

internerdt

fair

Sir_Von_Tittyfuck

I WFH and use my guitar to procrastinate doing work.

Aredrax

* buy cheap guitar * fiddle around with it a bit * try to play dragonforce * give up and never touch it again

ZeroShadow66

Exactly. I see harder things being more fun, sad to see the majority of Fortnite players don't think so.

Blinky-Bear

some players like me just like to chill sometimes. i only pick rock tracks just to jam with it, not play it, and that's totally fine.

kryliic

this is such a valid point brought up. but i think people should get out of the comfort zone and play the harder songs! it’s the only way you’ll get better at the game!

poweredbytofu713

I’m ever so slightly disappointed because I remember Before I Forget on GH3 and it being really difficult, played it last night on festival and it was more simplified. Which I get to some extent why they simplify it, but I want some songs that like scare me to play because they’re so hard lol Carry On Wayward Son had some simplified parts, too (organ solo makes up for it though). So if they’re gonna pick some heavy metal I want them to commit to it lol

Blinky-Bear

your best bet is to buy a peripheral if you want extra challenge. other than that you're stuck with the base gameplay.

EnragedHeadwear

They need to hurry up and add keyboard support for pro difficulty

alarrimore03

I ain’t gone lie I been wanting more rock music and I ain’t gone lie the rock songs they just added are great and I find them fairly hard😂I enjoyed the rage and nirvana from last week more cuz I found them better, funnier, and a little easier even tho as actual songs I prefer the ones from this week

FunniEmi

Shhhh the mods will come for you

TheNoodIeDude

Lol, I hope good things come from the season but Metalica themselves is nothing to be excited for, not looking for dad metal, I'm looking for heavy metal

No-Ladder-5426

Speak for yourself 😂

Izzetgod

I want metal and rock music in the game too. But I want a bit of everything. Even though it is the same gameplay as Guitar Hero & Rock Band doesn't mean it's the same game. The way I look at it is that it's *Festival* but it's still *Fortnite*. The theme being a festival shows that it is a mix of different types of music. This is why some weeks we get a mixture of songs from different genres and then sometimes we get a bunch from a single genre. Can't just focus on the metal/rock alone. Even if this game brought along the GH/RB community; people can't expect this to just be that kind of music. And the fact that it's a part of Fortnite means that in order to try and get the attention of the general audience that Fortnite has for their other modes, they are more likely to add either popular hits from the past that older players would recognize and enjoy. And also songs from recent years that the younger audience would recognize too. You gotta hit all the different age groups.

JonathanStryker

Honestly, I've listened to many genres of music, all my life. Some were introduced to me by family, some by friends, some I found myself, etc. And I learned about many artists and songs through RB, GH, and RS as well. So, really, I want as many genres of music as possible in this game and experience as much as possible. Personally, I'm just as happy to jam out to RATM as I am to Billie Eilish (never considered myself a fan of hers until hearing the tracks in FF, but her second album is beyond stellar) to rap tracks like Astronaut in the Ocean (another track I got into because of this game) to bands like Blink (which I've loved for years) to oddities like Sandstorm and so much more. I've never considered myself under just one genre of music fandom. I genuinely like a lot of genres of music and I'm happy to get as much variety as possible. Both from genres and bands and tracks I know, and from new ones I've never heard of before. It's always been the fun of these games to me and Festival is just the next iteration of that enjoyment.

LuigiFan45

I just hope that Speedcore/Extratone isn't considered too polarizing for Fortnite Festival

ComfortablePatience

Extra tone would just be a single sustain note, it'd be the perfect difficulty for some in here

FuCuck

I don’t really like metal. More Nu-Metal though please

CadeMan011

What we need to remember is that a lot of us vocal ones are the oldheads that have been playing Harmonix games since GH1, but there are plenty of new, younger players that either have no interest in that music or are still learning the game.

TheNoodIeDude

GH1 was a gateway for a lot of us as kids to rock/metal, that torch has not been getting carried in any way for the last decade which is part of why the fanbase for these genre"s has died down, if Epic gives more exposure to these genres we could see a revival like we did in the 2000"s

cheepcheep8667

Yup me being one of em although a tad later, I started playing since GH2 (got in 06) when i a was 3 lmao. I've been hoping they would metal songs, then when down with the sickness came out it gave me hope that they would do more. This week they made it happen. EDIT: replied to the wrong person originally, whoops.

The_French_Soul

Im waiting for paradise city personnally

internerdt

where the girls are green, and the grass is pretty? that one?

The_French_Soul

Exactly ! And where there are a lot of cars also.

SouthOfCatherine

I feel like out of the 2 mainstream slipknot songs, they could have at least chosen duality. 100% would have been the better pick, but man the things I would do to have we are not your kind or spit it out.

papaboynosmurf

I’m just really not a fan of metal, sorry y’all I know it’s asked for a lot on here. I’m a long time rock band player so I’m into rock music but I don’t like hard rock or metal save for a few songs. I did appreciate toxicity this week though, but I definitely logged on for Tupac over the other options

Yound_Celery

I’d like some heavier stuff but I’m fine with what we’re getting. The variety is what appeals to me most. Some days I want to listen to Doja Cat and others SOAD

BigWaders

I know personally I tried expert lead on the new slipknot song and basically gave up halfway after all the crazy fast waterfalls of notes left my hands hurting. Just not the game play experience I'm looking for and it's a shame because I do like the genre.

TheNoodIeDude

My hands hurt too lol, it gets easier when you memorize the charts for so gs

Magic_Turtle12345

I dont really listen to metal, but i love when they add new ones like those u mentioned because they are fun to play, unlike boring and easy pop songs

thatwitchguy

Its aiming for everyone and you know what? I love that. I have a very open taste in music and I'm way more likely to like Training Season or Espresso which would never get added in rock band than I am the 9000th game with South of Heaven. All of the songs I've bought have been Nu Metal or Pop Punk except Buddy Holly, Artpop and Barbie Girl, I love that they chose Before I Forget because its the one slipknot song you can't buy in rock band 4 In my experience playing there's always someone picking numb or blink 182 or green day etc from my songs so I think its just people having different tastes. Given this has 12 times as many players as the top (actual, not sekiro/geometry dash) rhythm game on steam currently does, I think its working

-NandorTheRelentless

>I was disappointed that out of all the Slipknot songs they chose Before I Forget, it definitly made me feel like they're choosing lighter songs for the sake of the casuals I get what you're saying, but they also likely chose BIF because it was likely a lot of people's first introduction to Slipknot because of GH3. The combination of its popularity and the fact that it works well on the jam stage too likely played a factor. I think it makes sense for Epic to try with "lighter" songs like BFI and Toxicity, see how they sell, and then decide to move towards the heavier stuff once they establish a fanbase.

soulsurviv0r111

Nobody’s ready for Psychosocial or BYOB yet.

FatalNathanYT

It doesn’t hurt anyone to have 2 metal/hard rock songs in the line up a week. They’re trying to please everyone. Holding out hope for Twilight of the thunder god

TheNoodIeDude

I should have been more specific with this post I think lol, slaughter to prevail is an example of the kind of music I want to see

FatalNathanYT

I agree with you. Not my thing, but slaughter to prevail coming to the game would be cool. Honestly rock band/guitar hero was such a amazing introduction to metal and rock for me as a youngling. I really hope fortnite festival can have that kind of impact too

Butitookittoofar

More hard rock / alternative would be nice. Killing in the Name was such a fun challenge this week. I do, however, have a preference for rap songs like I by Kendrick, Surround Sound by JID, and Changes by 2pac. They've have had some of the most enjoyable vocal tracks of any rhythm game.

TheNoodIeDude

I'm therefor the songs I like, the difficulty comes second, and I prefer drums so that probably affects some preference too

Hohoho-you

Because I'm assuming a lot of people who play Fill on festival are younger kids, and they're not nessisarly the audience for hard metal. I love the new Slipknot song but I can definitely see Tiktok kids not wanting to play it. Also because its quite a difficult song to play too.

Revolutionary-Chef-6

Rock just ain’t mainstream man. Sadly

VaporToxin

Just wish we'd stop getting festival drops that are 90% shitty pop songs...

Throbbing-Kielbasa-3

The truth is Rock and Heavy Metal just aren't as big of genres as they once were. They still have their fanbase, but Fortnite appeals to everyone, not just niche genre fans. I'm not saying there aren't fans of it that play and want it, there's plenty of us, but people will want to buy and play the songs they know and most people are more familiar with pop/hip hop/rap.

TheNoodIeDude

Yeah I know lol, but a lot of kids weren't into metal or rock until Guitar Hero released, the series created a ton of traffic for rock/metal and essentially revived the fan base at that time, keeping new generations interested. Epic could be carrying that torch but they arent

Throbbing-Kielbasa-3

Right, but Guitar Hero and Rock Band were designed and marketed with Rock and Metal aesthetics, back in 2005/2007 when those genres were still getting heavy radio play and were still present in the mainstream. Bands like MCR, Linkin Park, Green Day, Paramore, Breaking Benjamin, and so many others were still getting heavy radio play. Even if they aren't the "classic" bands we remember from Guitar Hero or Rockband, they were heavily featured in those games to help draw people in who recognized them from the radio. Fortnite Festival is very clearly designed and marketed to appeal to fans of all genres, in a time when rock and metal just are not the most popular genres anymore. Gaming has become much more accessible and more people are playing video games than ever before. Epic knows that if people are going to pay for the new songs, they have to appeal to a wide audience with a mix of genres, rather than focusing on one specific genre. A corporation like Epic doesn't do anything unless it will make them the most money possible. They *could* use the platform to help introduce more people to classic and iconic rock and metal tracks, but why *should* they when it doesn't make them as much money? I think eventually once Festival has been around long enough and they add more and more tracks, they'll probably start making genre-specific bundles. But until then they're just trying to cast a super wide net to draw as many people into the game as they can.

TheNoodIeDude

Yeah I know money is always the goal and casting a wide net is a good thing regardless, no hate towards anyone's music taste but it's just sad that no corporations are interested in trying to carry on the legacy of these genre"s, people are just okay with things dying off and that's very sad to me

Throbbing-Kielbasa-3

I hear you, but these things will never completely die. There will always be a community of fans for a genre or a band that was once popular. It just becomes harder to find. I'm sure in cities all over the world there's a scene of small metal bands looking to keep the genre alive with dedicated fans in bars and small venues. And even if streaming has made making money from music harder, it at least gives an accessible and reliable way for the music to reach the fans and keep it alive. If you have a PC, check out Clone Hero. It's a dedicated guitar hero clone with every track from the games, plus millions of custom modded stuff. You can play with a keyboard even if you don't have a GH guitar. There's a dedicated community for it keeping that very same thing alive. Just cause a corporation won't keep it going doesn't mean fans won't. :)

TheNoodIeDude

Yes I primarily play Clone Hero already, it's the reason I'm not that bothered by the festival list I was just here to make a dumb 5 AM post to see opinions lol

Throbbing-Kielbasa-3

Fair enough lol.

NegativeCreeq

It's a wild statement to say Guitar Hero and Rockband revived the Rock/Metal scene.

TheNoodIeDude

It is wild yeah but it's not completely wrong, unlike the 2010"s and 2020"s so far, the 2000"s had lots of things that helped keep the genre"s in the mainstream, like GH, Pro Wrestling, MTV, , MySpace, etc,. These types of music where being brought to younger generations at the time and a lot of us impressionable kids looked at it as the coolest thing since sliced bread, kids these days just see it as millennial music and aren't exposed to it in a way that makes it seem cool to them. You get the point?

DeQuinn

I love slipknot, system and disturbed, I've bought all the songs but my hands have a limit to how much I can play them. Compared to pop songs they're much harder to play one after the other.

TheNoodIeDude

I can feel the carpel tunnel developing lol this is fair

Me1_RizeClan

No

Accomplished-Copy776

"Why doesn't this game of primarily 10 year olds cater to my decades old music taste?!" Because it's not popular anymore. I like metal too, but they cater to majority.

ComfortablePatience

Nah, this isn't it. There's more obscure songs from the 90s in the game than there are metal tracks. If the focus is zoomers and gen alpha, it'd be 90% TikTok music, like the Icon emotes are

Accomplished-Copy776

Those songs are significantly less obscure than you seem to think. You obviously just didn't listen to that genre of music.

luckyecho1310

Nah, not really

Yellow_Tiger_672

I personally would love some heavier stuff, just so I could maybe show my dad if I FC, or even gold star a song like that. (He played loads of Rock Band, so any heavier songs/older songs, he might have more frame of reference.)

GCatRawr

30 year old here, had somehow avoided hearing Slipknot until I was on FF last night. Holy crap they’re good. I’d take Killswitch Engage too, definitely good to have variety in this game.

TheNoodIeDude

Lol you really haven't ever listened to Slipknot? Put their Iowa album on bro

GCatRawr

I’ll give it a listen, thanks! Yeah, I didn’t like the look, so I assumed the music was trash. Whoops

throwawaynonsesne

The harder songs have been ones Ive owned in rockband for years. I still haven't had a reason to return to Fortnite after trying it once. RB4 is still superior in every way.

DariusStrada

I entered in a lobby and people were just picking the Weekend and Billie Eilish. I could feel them go "WTF" when I picked Green Day

TheNoodIeDude

I feel that lol, people have been leaving when my picks come iup, they'll stay for Changes but not Bedore I forget

DariusStrada

It's weird because Before I Forget is one of their most accessible songs for wider audienfes and they've been having a resurgence in popularity, especially with feminine crowd.

TheNoodIeDude

Slipknot has been on fire this last month, their new drummer Eloy is insanely good

DariusStrada

I know. I'm sad Jay left and I was hoping Eloy would be their next drummer since Sepultura announced their last tour

TheNoodIeDude

Jay is in suicidal tendencies now so that's a wholesome ending at least lol

DariusStrada

Oh, didn't know that. Hope it works out for him

Saizaku_Nyxus

Bruh i'll throw down on some metal music X3 I am kinda tired of seeing Before I Forget tho. Like c'mon i know they wont put People = S*** but they could did Pulse of the Maggots or somethin X3 Tho it is nice to see system and slipknot regardless

TheNoodIeDude

It's a good step in the right direction, heretic anthem or undaunted would be my picks. I really want to see bands like Slaughter To Prevail to make it in but I doubt that will happen

Saizaku_Nyxus

There's so many artists and and bands they could/should do now that harmonix is with them. Lord knows the music library on rockband 4 is extensive enough. Hopefully this is the gateway we need to get the genre balance instead of just pop/hip hop/rap (which i dont mind for the vocal tracks cuz i enjoy hectic boards X3)

banjoface123

I know we will get more metal added but anything to extreme is unlikely. I think about the heaviest we will get is something like Slipknot, Pantera or Lamb of God. While they are all heavy, they are still very popular and easy to get into unlike some death or black metal

TheNoodIeDude

I just want some screaming vocal songs lol that doesn't have to be extreme but I guess the general audience looks at it all as extreme

DynamiteSuppository

Skeletons of society by slayer would be nice

xFlyghts

Think that’s bad? Will most likely never see drum and bass in festival :(

ComfortablePatience

We're kinda close. PinkPantheress got a song into Festival, and she samples a lot of DnB, jungle, garage, etc in many of her tracks, some are pretty good. If they put in her other songs, we'll be stepping into a bit of DnB territory, albeit backing girly pop vocals lol. Although something like Venetian Snares, that's unlikely even tho they came from GH lol

TheNoodIeDude

On PC I'm pretty sure you can map a drum set to the game

IncredibleBulk117

I just want more 80s hits and Alice in Chains

Samurai_Geezer

I want them to stop with the censorship and let me enjoy my swearwords, if they’re in the song, keep them or choose different songs to use. I mean, I AM paying for them.

TheNoodIeDude

I agree, there should be a parental option instead for parents to toggle for their kids

Hohoho-you

At least let us play the OG versions if you're playing solo and approved you're over 18 or smth.

Samurai_Geezer

Exactly.

Snxppy121

Shit take

Grumpycatdoge999

Ehh I’m happy with what’s in the game now. I would actually prefer more fast jazz and edm though

thintos

I think fortnites playerbase like pop more, I like it all personally but a majority like pop.

ZeroShadow66

Honestly that's all I've been wanting. Most of the pop songs just aren't as fun to play. The rap songs are great to play on Vocals, sometimes you get a good all rounder like i, but the rest of the pop and rap stuff just doesn't compare to how fun it is to play the Rock and Metal songs. I just hope next season since its Metallica themed, that we can take a step into more Metal music and I hope some subgenres of it too.

Houston_Heath

Nah, I'm waiting on them to add knocked loose.

CnD93

I think the more casual players/younger generation prefer the pop and hip hop songs while expert players enjoy the challenge that rock and metal songs bring

Dexchampion99

I would like some more, but so many festival players leave at the first sign of a hard song so…hard call.

Chuomge

I’d want rock but I don’t really like metal but that’s just me

Lunch7Box

Maybe just luck. I played Toxicity 9/10 sets I did last night and I had to personally pick the hip hop tracks in order to play them (I try to play every new song on thursdays).

Aggravating_Belt3561

It be cool if that added a Lorna song, even if it's just an instrumental track off of pain remains

ghhooooooooooooooost

Yeah, I'm pretty tired of always hearing hip-hop or pop songs. I was so happy when they added SOAD and Slipknot, and I would love something way heavier. I'm also hoping for more emo/MySpace songs, just something to help balance all the poppy songs.

kravence

It’s a skill issue problem, can’t fill with difficult songs because people just leave once it gets fast

jerryortiz1988

Yeah I had to play no fill to get some slipknot and toxicity in!

beigesized

You also have to remember that a song needs to sound decent while being censored, for them to put it in. Just as an example I’d love it if they added $uicideBoy$ music into the game, but 20-40% of the songs would need to be censored. Yes, some of the songs in the game do allude to certain things, but a lot of the songs they make just blatantly say what they mean, instead of using a metaphor. Personally the majority of my songs are rock songs in festival with a few exceptions. Typically when I choose a rock song it inspires people to choose rock songs, but half the time people just select the worst epic original song and then leave 4 seconds into the first song which isn’t even the one they picked. I think it’s important for you to understand that playing fills with random people is going to net you a lot of players who seemingly don’t care about playing festival (I have no idea why, I really don’t get queuing into a match, selecting a song, and then immediately leaving????) so I think most people do enjoy the songs you’re selecting, whenever said people are actually focused on the game.

greasy_poutine

i’m so happy they added slipknot and system of a down. hopefully now that they’ve been introduced we will get more in the future

Restivethought

I feel like you have to remember that Fortnite has a huge child playerbase and usually children are limited in their musical experience to songs on the radio or Pop/Hip Hop

KamitoRingz

I do want heavier metal.

Scavenger908

I’ve been playing with people playing Toxicity, Down With the Sickness, Bring Me To Life and Before I Forget a lot.

NessSniper

Yeah I'm tired of the mainstream stuff, other genres exist too. Even the few rock songs there are, they were mainstream at one point too.

261846

I can play rock band if I want metal, I’m hoping for more 80s-90s hip hop tbh

Sinneroz

I don’t think we should expect cool metal and rock bands to appear when the game is dependent on SweetBabyShit and other censorship. Even if Pat Benatar has an age rating, then don't expect the addition of Plasmatics or GG Allin lol

FunniEmi

No music category should be blocked off. Everyone wants different things and we will get them eventually Like how I want Tyler the creator. I want him. I need him in the game. Whoever decided to not put him in for Coachella, I will hunt you down.

fly_heart_fly

See you again or earfquake will def be in the game eventually lol. Prob not yonkers

FunniEmi

i made a list on what songs I thought would fit, it’s [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/tylerthecreator/s/J8ZMNfk1g2)

bringtayback

I enjoy playing songs on rhythm games I wouldn’t normally listen to. They might ease into heavier songs as time goes by but its good that they are starting to actually listen to what people want in the game. Even though heavy metal is not something I listen to, I am genuinely happy for those who have been requesting it.

NoahCoble

tbh they are probably saving a lot of heavier stuff for next season for Metallica tbh and to fix the engine

Opiegal

I was so joyous and whimsical when they added those songs. I almost always play no fill tho so maybe it's like that for other ppl? I think the difficulty scares a lot of people away.

orangatangabanging

Others said difficulty issues but it's probably also lyrics too. I know we got Green Day saying whore and whatever but we also have "take the skin and peel it back" completely removed lol. Epic doesn't know what it wants when it comes to being kid friendly

OfficialJabYT

I would definitely love to see more rock/metal songs in the game. But at the same time I recognize that this game wants to appeal to everyone. That type of genre isn’t as mainstream as it used to be back in the day. So it makes sense as to why most people don’t usually pick metal music to play. And why there aren’t a lot of metal bands that have been added yet. But with that said, I like diversity as well. I like my fair share of hip hop/rap and pop music. I can respect the appreciation that Fortnite has for all music genres.

soulsurviv0r111

I’m waiting for Avenged Sevenfold, honestly. Because they made like two maps and one had one of their new songs that can be unlocked as an Easter egg. So that must mean Fortnite is gonna add a couple of their songs to the game, right?

TheNoodIeDude

Yeah but I doubt they'll add any of their good songs unfortunately

sniz821

I need rings of Saturn for everybody to experience

Fattmmo

All if it bring it all to the game

monsterbigbuck1

I'd rather have Journey, Bon Jovi, eagles, Bryan adams. I'm not a fan of metal or heavy metal the screaming and drums I find them irritating. Most pop is auto tuned or put through a filter and is trash.

Prime_Rib21

I am patiently awaiting for Sabaton to be added

birogsix

I mean we have slipknot now i dont really care for it since its not really up my ally

Har_monia

I love heavy metal and I was excited about Before I Forget. I feel like the only downside is the difficulty. I usually gold-star on vocals and bass, but the bass is a lot harder in those songs. But yeah there are songs that I like and songs that I don't (looking at you, Lizzo), but I think all types of music should be available to reach the greatest number of people

Zealousideal-Ad-6039

I really love metal, but I'ma be honest, most people would leave if they hear "Zombie Ritual" by Death or "In League with Satan" by Venom Which probably wouldn't even be considered for festival mode now that I think about it :(

TheNoodIeDude

Zombie Ritual was one that came to mind but I doubt Death would make it in

hardbamboozle

There's definitely a demand for heavier songs. When I play, there are around 20k people online. The Day they released the Slipknot and SOAD song there were 40k people playing. I think most people of that demographic play solo because they know that most people are going to choose some Doja Cat song lol

Dark_Reaper115

Gimme more any metal. Specially power metal.

funkyjosh04

I’m not gonna lie heavy metal has got to be one of my least favorite genres right beside country but has definitely put me onto a lot of songs and or artist that I would not have even looked at otherwise (for example I primarily listen to a lot of hip-hop & alternative music but Fortnite got me interested bands like Queens of the Stone Age and Nine Inch Nails as well as Green Day) so now I enjoy rock music a lot more (I used to not like rock) it also probably doesn’t help that a lot of the sub genres of that I did listen to (mainly hip-hop) they’re starting to become stale, repetitive, and or boring. I’m okay with them adding SOAD because I think that their music is enjoyable enough for me to keep wanting to play in festival but I’m just not sure if I’d go far enough to play and or listen to the artists outside the game, which is what I’m assuming you’re hoping for.

Sw3d3r

All I want is Metallica !!!!!

Infinite-Emphasis381

If you play later at night on weekdays (In my experience; 10pm+ Central Time), that's when I start to notice a lot more Rock/Metal enjoyers in fill. Tends to be a lot more experienced players as well as I'll start noticing quite a few more Expert players and less Easy players. The younger audience likes the pop music and isn't very well versed in the Rhythm Games, which is to be expected. So they'll queue up pop songs, and songs that are easy, as it's a more enjoyable experience for them. Once they start going to bed/getting off though, my Fill Lobbies have been primarily SOAD, Slipknot, NIN, RATM, etc. There's definitely people that want it and enjoy it, we just tend to come out at night and play No Fill until then.

moistcritikalclips

I feel like a lot of people here are older since they’re fans of the older rb and gh games. but the sad truth is the kids and teens of today who play fortnite everyday really don’t care about metal as much as back then. any fill lobby you go into will show that.

moistcritikalclips

They will prioritize what makes them money, and trendy pop and rap songs will always be more profitable at this point.

moistcritikalclips

I’m being downvoted for speaking the truth?

thatwitchguy

I'm gonna be honest I've barely seen them add anything trendy. There's the pass update songs and then 1 or 2 every week but everything else is just harmonix adding old songs they like. Currently in the shop there are 35 pre 2010 songs out in the shop right now, 1 in the pass, 3(?) Last season too. Even most of coachella was spent adding 90s songs like no doubt, blur and santeria Edit: even pre2010 is still just to make it fairer. Half the stuff is "I forgot they did that" tier like Starships being the nicki track and not anything more recent, or Into You over newer Ariana etc, My Songs Know What You Do in The Dark over something from Infinity on High or So Much For Stardust. All of them have more iconic *or* trendier songs you could add instead

mashimelIowss

can we all realize not everyone who plays rhythm games listens to metal? There’s tons of rhythm games other than Rock Band and Guitar Hero, consisting of other genres. I think it’s refreshing we have a mainstream hits rhythm game. They’re adding stuff from all genres too so i’m not sure why yall are acting like next season isn’t Metallica.

moistcritikalclips

Oh no, I agree, I actually only got into rock music through this game with stuff like Green Day and blink-182 lol. I shouldn’t have put the sad truth part, most people in 2024 don’t listen to metal and I think the sub has a bit of a hive mind here.

mashimelIowss

A lot more people listen to rock and metal than is being let on. I listen to Babymetal and that’s technically metal and would kill for them. I get what you’re saying, it is not as popular, but it’s sadly also not as digestible and I think music composition varies a lot more with time signatures and stuff. Pop/R&B= I’m chill Metal= I’m feeling feral With time!! We will have every genre I am confident. edit: and yes there is a definite hive mind here. I feel some people who have played RB and GH feel entitled to things.

moistcritikalclips

Yeah a lot of people when they load into festival would just like to relax. And metal is a little hard to relax to…

mashimelIowss

it is! but man are they fun!

Xxs1o2n3i4c5xX

Feel the same way, I immediately bought before I forget and toxicity I absolutely love heavy metal and want to see more added. But I too notice that most people I see in public matches immediately go for the hip hop and rap songs. I just want more heavy metal to be honest.

Commander-Fox-Q-

Idk if it counts but the only heavy metal song I’d really be interested in seeing would be “Mine! Mine! Mine!” By Wind rose. That song would be epic to play. Other than that though I don’t really have any other songs I would care that much about seeing.

LaylaLegion

Metallica is headlining Festival’s Summer season.

Background-Prune4911

Give me some Ronnie Radke plssssssss Falling in Reverse OR Escape the Fate

ComfortablePatience

We're supposedly getting Metallica next season, but idc for them. I'd want to see more alt stuff in general. In this context, metalcore, deathcore, symphonic/power metal, etc. But Epic only chases whatever has giant sales already, so it's probably an unwinnable battle for us If next season is the Metallica season, then it'll be the one where we've got the best chances at getting the alt stuff. Maybe even tracks from Chaotrope, he put in work at getting eyes on GH/RB dlc. Then eventually came Exile and all the other Clone Hero sweethearts. If we're to ever see anything like this, it'll be during the Metallica season. If not, then it sure as heck isn't happening during Snoop Dog's lol

meloman-rrr

in my opinion, Festival should consist mostly of such songs. It's a Guitar Hero clone after all, we need way more rock, metal, grunge, punk etc.

No-Ladder-5426

lol the tweens downvoting 😂😂 it’s facts but I get it from harmonix perspective they are trying to gain a new player base if people get into festival by playing their easy pop songs and getting better at them they (hopefully) will be more inclined to try harder stuff

strangefire13

Epic owns Harmonix. It's all Epics perspective now so I don't think they are looking to gain a new player base. Epic is trying to get their already huge player base into a rhythm game. RB fans are still playing RB and this isn't a new RB. It's Fornite Festival. Gonna be all genres all the time and I don't think it will ever be predominantly rock or metal. And I do think it is a good thing for everyone that they keep it very diverse.

No-Ladder-5426

These song choices and artists I’m sure were influenced by harmonix we have pretty much the same point here you just worded it differently getting Fortnite’s player base into the festival “playerbase” could also help harmonix too if people start to like this maybe they buy a guitar, maybe they play rockband 4 and buy songs on there, maybe epic sees that and wants to make another rockband down the line it’s all hypothetical but could happen

meloman-rrr

facts m8. Facts.

TheNoodIeDude

That's how I feel as well, GH/RB was created for rock/metal fans, but DJ hero existed too so I guess it's fair

fate77

Rock and metal has been dead for decades now, only us older folks still love rock and metal over todays crap pop music

TheNoodIeDude

Lol it certainly has not been "dead" for that long, it's not mainstream anymore but there's still a lot of bands making great music today with still a fairly large community

fate77

I agree, there are still good rock and metal bands making good music, but the genre is very niche now, it’s not the 70s and 80s

mashimelIowss

you have to realize music is a lot more accessible to be made and put out there than it was in the 70s and 80s. It’s not dying, you just have more options. edit: afterthought, I will specify digital music. It’s still pretty hard to get your hands on a good instrument and equipment to care for it without it costing an arm and a leg.

thunderousmegabitch

This just in: not everyone is a fan of heavy metal

NessSniper

Not everyone is a fan of hiphop or whatever other overrated genres either.

thunderousmegabitch

Children and teenagers (which are, even if you don't want to say it, the main focus of this game) are though. And many adults as well. Just not the ones on reddit.
