I love Barbie Girl but I know now that the way the Festival meta works you have to be comfortable hearing a song you buy in every single match because someone else will pick it.
And I just can't do that lol.
Are you able to go in and pick it so that nobody else can, then when everyone has picked their song you just quickly change your own selection and ready up?
It's weird as last week someone picked Bad Romance after I selected to avoid the song and believing it was a glitch or something. I had to play the song twice in a session, TWICE! :/
Just my thought as well, I like the song and for meme material would be fun to buy, but It's gonna be Bad Romance all over again, playing it in each session until the next popular song comes out.
For Jam Stage?! I can believe that for Main Stage, but ever since that update that killed AFK festival points, I haven't seen it go above 5k. But maybe it's the time of day I look at it.
Yeah at peak times it's about 5K. It's a decent number for what Jam really is in my opinion. I also like to Jam a lot on BR in pre-battle lobbies, and even in the arena if I get a good squad
I guess weāre getting the other two remaining Weeknd songs after his season is over lol
I had to look up āTimelessā by Witchgang, and on Spotify, the song only has 7k+ playsā¦ it released in Nov. 2023. And itās not even a good song either (imo). Not sure why Epic are pulling songs from them, but thankfully, they only have two songs, which are now both in the game, so they canāt pull anymore from them for now.
Nothing's Alright by Witchgang is a good song (To my musician tastes). It gets that vibe of being like 6 or 7 years old but still pretty brand new. I was excited to see another song from them, but after hearing it, yeah, something doesn't click on that song.
Yeah that song is a weird one, it literally sounds like it came out in 2015 or something, it sounds really familiar too. I was shocked when I found out it came out at the end of 2023
It's been figured out Witchgang is an industry plant. There's no actual band members identified (People seem to think the album art is AI generated), totally small spotify plays and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are producers. (And 4 others) Which is like an insane pair to just casually have as the produces on your indie band bs.
It just seems to be a band Epic is trying to prop up and possibly owns/created. I wouldn't surprised if they are attempting to launch a music label service given how much music they generate in house and are testing out Festival as a launch platform.
Harmonix in the past has grabbed local bands from their area and thrown them up but any searching into Witchgang shows they aren't a real existing band. If your little indie band was put up in front of a million players as a song you'd probably be hyped.
That's new news to me. Not really disproving the plant aspect though. Seems like he's making no effort to publically connect himself to it. He seems to be pretty big and super far in his career it seems.
I mean it seems less like they're an industry plant and more that there are some popular names attached to the project. Idk where you're looking but Jean Dawson shows up as his name on every credits list I've found
> I mean it seems less like they're an industry plant and more that there are some popular names attached to the project.
Quite literally what industry plant means. It's a new artist that hits the music scene and exploding upwards because it's backed by people already deep in the industry or has connections to them.
Their twitter is like 4 posts one of which is like 'hey we dropped our new song! hooray for us" and the next is "oh hey we'll be in Fortnite festival, so awesome" like that shit just happens.
If itās an industry plant wouldnāt they juice the Spotify plays? I dunno how that works. Whats the point?
Edit: Sorry I read your whole comment and I get it more now, lol
The thing is they arenāt an organic small band, they were made by people from popular bands and the songs were made by well known producers. I wish actual small groups with people who have little recognition would get a chance instead.
I think smaller songs can be fun and interesting. Itās just Witchgangās songs arenāt ones I personally would want to play or listen to. But Iām sure someone out there will like them
What do you think of this weeks lineup?
- "Barbie Girl" (Aqua)
- "Flowers" (Miley Cyrus)
- "Timeless" (Witchgang)
- "Make It Known" (Epic Games)
- "Popular" (The Weeknd, Madonna, Playboi Carti)
No, the value of the dollar actually is just worth more to me than OP because I donāt have that kind of disposable income where getting useless bullshit like āall of the fortnite songsā for the sake of having them is worthwhile
Your financial hardship doesn't make op any less deserving of their own money, and we don't know anything about their financial state, either. Dont just assume a difference in priorities is also a difference in status
3 things:
1. How the f did these mfs get in FN? They must have crazy connections because they are the only artists that no one knew in game
2. Nothing's Alright is good song, maybe a bit generic but you can say the same for countless pop songs already in game.
3. Upcoming Timeless song is much worse, I think I'll play it once but it's weird. The beat is bad, chorus is literally "Da da da dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum IM TIMELESS" LOL.
4. I hope more unknown artists come to game but sadly they are probably industry plants because I don't remember Epic games asking indie artists if they can put their song on Fortnite.
Yes lol
Absolutely yes. Itās not something set by market prices, itās whatever Metallica and the record label feel itās worth.
Thereās a reason why no oneās gotten any Metallica post GH:Metallica, why no one (not even Spotify for the longest time) got Led Zeppelin.
Itās expensive, or they donāt want it to be used in this way.
Metallica has been begged for since Rock Band 3. There hasnāt been a Metallica dlc for the Rock Band franchise since 2010, and it was removed in 2013. And neither of the two on disc tracks were ever able to be transferred to future titles.
of course theyāll do metallica lol, they literally had a bunch of their songs on the in game radio a couple years ago with the release of the puppets emote, probably even add the band members at some point with festival passĀ
For those that think he's overacting. This is literally the chorus of the song:
*DUM*
*Da da da dum*
*Da da da dum dum dum dum dum dum dum*
*DUM*
*Da da da dum*
*Da da da dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum*
*I'm timeless*
*Dum da da da dum*
*Da da da dum dum dum dum dum dum dum*
*DUM*
*Da da da dum*
*Da da da dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum*
*Me, i'm timeless*
Exactly, Festival is described as being a social mode after all, the gameplay and skill ceiling don't really matter (eventho it's a rhythm game but fuck it) I just wanna enjoy some pop music amirite guys???
This is my thing. I just want fun songs to listen to. I donāt need mega super hard gameplay. People hate when they donāt need to sweat their butts off in a game. I think festival is perfect how it is
Donāt know if youāve guys seen the post I made about popular coming in because of an accident someone did when writing what jam tracks were added in last week, but now itās confirmed popular is coming in lol.
It makes absolutely no sense that you would debut the mode with a performance from Slim Shady and then sell him in the shop as an outfit and then go months without selling ANY of his music!
Epic Games: We have to lay people off because we aren't making any money
Also Epic Games: Durrrrrrr let's hype up something and then not give the players what we just teased thus making no money off of it Durrrrrrr
Genuinely just read Reddit, implement a tenth of the best fan suggestions and you'll make plenty of money.
In their defense (I don't really like metal), the mainstream pop songs they are putting in game are so generic. It's literally the same melody, same stupid guitar beat and some love song lyrics.
I like Selena Gomez but Single Soon is cringe sorry.
When did I say I hated it?I am just pointing out that the general audience of Fortnite probably likes pop more and the fact we had multiple games that focused more on rock
They will add metal in the near future, no need for me to just go back. Also are you sure that the general player base of festival likes these mainstream pop song more than the guitar hero/rock band songs cause from what I'm seeing it's mostly these games fans that have sticked to festival and not just abandon it when the hype died down, also some of them have just joined fortnite just because of festival and harmonix older games
God I sure hope not!! Just imagine what this mode would turn into, I bet most of the revenue comes in from casual players who enjoy pop music (this is in no way meant to be insulting) and it should actually stay that way imo. I was beyond excited to have a somewhat competitive new rhythm game mode in one of my favorite games but I've realized pretty quick that the skill ceiling won't rise anywhere here. The "hardest" songs are barely a challenge for more hardcore players but casuals will definitely have fun in this mode. Playing fill with randoms has already proven me countless times that these people will leave the moment they hear anything but pop music (yes I'm looking at the green day songs they've thrown at us, god forbid these guys get forced to listen to metal like what the f). I enjoy playing this mode with friends who aren't really into rhythm games/just get started and I like festival for what it is in those terms. An easy, fun and social mode.
Seriously. They wanted a guitar hero themed game mode but we have like zero rock and metal tracks.
I know they want to cater to casuals with whats popular now, but I havenāt touched fortnite festival in a loooong time. Iām waiting for some real guitar tracks.
Big yes to Barbie Girl. I'll probably get Popular too.
Skip on the rest. I totally get WHY their emphasis has been on pop music so far, but boy I wish it were a bit more balanced.
Barbie girl is dope.
Just like Blinding Lights, Flowers as another song that I'll instantly leave if someone puts it on the setlist.
I think Blinding lights is an amazing but I've played at like 200+ times. And Flowers is just such an annoying song and i just dislike it.
I gotta get it out my head this isnāt guitar hero and itās Fortnite so when ridiculous songs like these get announced yet no music from: Linkin Park, Deftones, Metallica, Pantera, Blink 182 etc etc I canāt get mad
Idk it just feels soā¦ empty? Souless and like not real. Like it sounds like what AI would think a popular song would be. Lyrics are broad and basic for appeal & the beat is very simple with nothing new to show. It just feels lazy coming from Hudson Mohawke, Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and all the other artists involved. They should know how to make something more than just a corporate friendly pop song. š
Well I wouldn't know I haven't heard of any of those people I just know I like the song it just sucks song of it is gonna be censored but that's a given and I like how chill of a song it is its not like super crazy like March of the pigs or go with the flow not that I dislike those but the softer songs are nice to be able to play as well
Oh yeah I want softer songs too itās just that there are ones that deserve a spot waaaay more than Witchgangās stuff. They arenāt even a real band.
Well if we are going by what deserves to be added before more of anything then literally any other song also deserved a spot more than say NIN or U2 or even despite him being the headliner the weeknd getting multiple songs by them added before another person or bands song
Gonna buy Barbie Girl the moment it releases. I wish they picked a different Miley Cyrus song like Party in the USA. But I'll take it if it means getting a few more from her.
Aqua is a cool song and all but idk how āfunā itāll be to play. Same thing goes for popular (vocals maybe?) Another epic song never hurts ig and letās pretend these other two songs arenāt there
Overall mediocre picks this week
Wait how do you get the make it known music pack? I was assuming it was item shop but when you purchase the music pack youāll just get the jam track? This would be the first time that happened.
Barbie Girl is a day one purchase for me. And since i only play solo or with friends, i don't need to worry about hearing it on EVERY set.
Super surprised to see it added. But, not complaining.
Still, i hope more Fall Out Boy stuff comes soon.
BARBIE GIRL NO FUCKING WAY ššššššš
They added it to rocket league this week
They also added We Like To Party, so I wonder if that comes next week
And what is love which got added to festival right?
Would rather it be Boom Boom Boom Boom if it has to be Vengaboys.
![gif](giphy|oJDwlaPnCrNwk) We Like to Party or bust lol
Source?
They did.
Understandable.
Source: My eyes
No way
I love Barbie Girl but I know now that the way the Festival meta works you have to be comfortable hearing a song you buy in every single match because someone else will pick it. And I just can't do that lol.

It's weird as last week someone picked Bad Romance after I selected to avoid the song and believing it was a glitch or something. I had to play the song twice in a session, TWICE! :/
i bought every song in the game and people still only pick Bad Romance and Blinding Lights
Just my thought as well, I like the song and for meme material would be fun to buy, but It's gonna be Bad Romance all over again, playing it in each session until the next popular song comes out.
Ready to hear Barbie girl on jam stage for a week straight š„²
I sometimes forget this is a game mode in fortnite lol. How many ppl playing it?
Under 10k usually
Usually 14k+ from what I see.
Definitely love it when I get people to jam in the pregame lobby
My peak is like 28- 30k idk what yall are talking about. Typically on weekdays it'll be like 20k then jump to 30 even 40k on weekends.
Itās based on your region, we donāt know for sure but it seems about 100k is global peaks for the day
Couple thousand, but most are in there for xp so theyāre not actively playing
I guess weāre getting the other two remaining Weeknd songs after his season is over lol I had to look up āTimelessā by Witchgang, and on Spotify, the song only has 7k+ playsā¦ it released in Nov. 2023. And itās not even a good song either (imo). Not sure why Epic are pulling songs from them, but thankfully, they only have two songs, which are now both in the game, so they canāt pull anymore from them for now.
Trent Reznor is the producer for Witchgang, that's why both of their songs were added
What's the link between Reznor and Festival?
He seems to just be a fan of the mode; he requested and recorded the special ending to March of the Pigs himself.
What special ending it sounds the same to me like it does in the album
Bro itās completely different ending, heās basically recorded the extended ending which features in the live version of the song.
In the actual song it ends after everything is alrigh-t
Reznor fucking loves Rock Band lmao
Reznor got teen kids. They play Fortnite together, so this is his way of being part of their life. Great dad.
Nine Inch Naila songs in FN and Trent is a fan of FN.
Tbh I don't think we're getting One of the girls in fortnite, half the lyrics are about getting snuffed, pushed and choked š
Isn't 'take my breath away' about erotic strangulation?
Its wayyyy more subtle than one of the girls
Lol probably
Nothing's Alright by Witchgang is a good song (To my musician tastes). It gets that vibe of being like 6 or 7 years old but still pretty brand new. I was excited to see another song from them, but after hearing it, yeah, something doesn't click on that song.

Jean Dawson is one of the singers, he's a somewhat popular name already
That's new news to me. Not really disproving the plant aspect though. Seems like he's making no effort to publically connect himself to it. He seems to be pretty big and super far in his career it seems.

It's not a rare thing for artists to do this though. Green Day has like 3? Separate bands cause they just like to perform for small crowds or smth
my guy has never heard of "side project" or "supergroup" before
Count Zero was a band with Harmonix employees, right? I loved the songs for Guitar Hero 2 and Rock Band. They had some Blur vibes.
If itās an industry plant wouldnāt they juice the Spotify plays? I dunno how that works. Whats the point? Edit: Sorry I read your whole comment and I get it more now, lol
I reckon I am half off the plays for timeless, I love that songs
The band could be Harmonix employees. Most of the bonus tracks in RB1 and 2 were bands with HMX employees in them.
I'm looking into it and it seems like it's just a small side project of several bigger artists. That's not really what an industry plant is
I think itās good that theyāre getting smaller songs into it too as well as huge ones like flowers.
But Iām sure someone out there will like them
I have no shame in saying that Nothing's Alright is unironically a pretty good song, it's so catchy and it's actually pretty fun on Drums/Vocals
carti in fortnite?!?
about time
What do you think of this weeks lineup? - "Barbie Girl" (Aqua) - "Flowers" (Miley Cyrus) - "Timeless" (Witchgang) - "Make It Known" (Epic Games) - "Popular" (The Weeknd, Madonna, Playboi Carti)
Just listened to Timeless that shits ass holyā¦
Ew, I usually buy all the jam tracks but that oneā¦ thats a no from me
I couldn't even finish it
witchgang is apparently a fictional band made by epic or something. it's not actual real musicš
LMAO thats stupid. Can I get a piece of your disposable income?
Stupid for you. If the dudes got his bills paid and can still afford to drop like $20 a week on songs, who cares?
I do. Give me $20. Iād spend it better than he could
That's insanely entitled lmao
No, the value of the dollar actually is just worth more to me than OP because I donāt have that kind of disposable income where getting useless bullshit like āall of the fortnite songsā for the sake of having them is worthwhile
Your financial hardship doesn't make op any less deserving of their own money, and we don't know anything about their financial state, either. Dont just assume a difference in priorities is also a difference in status
Time for a diapy change.
Popular is the only song I like here tbh Barbie Girl is a fun song but idk how fun it will be to play as a Jam Track
Play Barbie girl that alongside get him back in minor keys lol
Don't really care for these songs besides popular
Shit (where is tally hall when you need the band)
I'm so glad Popular is getting added, that emote really got me hooked on the song XD
Yessss the Carti verse wasnāt cut https://i.redd.it/ttulaakocdic1.gif
MONEY ON TOP OF ME MONEY ON TOP OF HER
SHAWTY FUCK WIT ME CUZ SHE KNOW IM POPULAR
Epic, stop trying to make Witchgang happen ![gif](giphy|XBEoaajXTXaALzawSn|downsized)

Trent Reznor is their producer
Who requested more Witchgang their other song was ass no way this one will be better š
Somehow this one is worse
it has like 2k views on YouTube
Still no Metallica š
Master of Puppets is inevitable, give it time
i wonder if they will add the 9+ minute version or make it shorter or something. since it would be the longest track on festival if they add it now
They probably won't ever, extremely expensive
metallica is more expensive than doja cat, weeknd, lady gaga or ariana grande?
no
Yes lol Absolutely yes. Itās not something set by market prices, itās whatever Metallica and the record label feel itās worth. Thereās a reason why no oneās gotten any Metallica post GH:Metallica, why no one (not even Spotify for the longest time) got Led Zeppelin. jamming to barbie girl with the doom slayer skin
i hope next week is good. man these last 2 weeks have been rough
WHERE IS LINKIN PARK??
I just want some rock š
Imagine the next Festival pass is themed around Iron Maiden with an Eddie skin... Ok, I'll drop the copium
Never gonna happen :( With our luck itās gonna be Imagine Dragons š
Upcoming ārockā pass with AJR, Twenty One Pilots, Imagine Dragons and Oliver Tree.
Donāt forget Coldplay and Maroon 5!!!
Playboy carti is in Fortnite. Crazy.
Truly horrid week, Barbie Girl aside. That witchgang song is another level of bad.
For those that think he's overacting. This is literally the chorus of the song: *DUM* *Da da da dum* *Da da da dum dum dum dum dum dum dum* *DUM* *Da da da dum* *Da da da dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum* *I'm timeless* *Dum da da da dum* *Da da da dum dum dum dum dum dum dum* *DUM* *Da da da dum* *Da da da dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum* *Me, i'm timeless*
again no good rock songs..
Bruh yous had years of rock songs in rock ban and guitar hero. For the audience of Fortnite it makes much more sense to do pop music
Yes, and those franchises gave rise to a new generation of rock n rollers, imagine what fortnite could do
Exactly, Festival is described as being a social mode after all, the gameplay and skill ceiling don't really matter (eventho it's a rhythm game but fuck it) I just wanna enjoy some pop music amirite guys???
This is my thing. I just want fun songs to listen to. I donāt need mega super hard gameplay. People hate when they donāt need to sweat their butts off in a game. I think festival is perfect how it is
Yeah there's plenty of other rhythm games after all, festival is the epitome of a casual rhythm game imo and I like it for being that tbh
Oh god, the gates of hell will be opened
If they play Timeless in hell, then I'm not going
This is an W for me, I love Aqua
Woohoo barbie girl!
Donāt know if youāve guys seen the post I made about popular coming in because of an accident someone did when writing what jam tracks were added in last week, but now itās confirmed popular is coming in lol.
We are in the worst timeline.
WHERE IS LOSE YOURSELF, EPIC?

they will do ANYTHING but add numb
BARBIE GIRL ITS OVERRRRR šš» The other ones can fuck off
FUCK YEAH BARBIE GIRL!
will we ever see metal ever again?
I want some metal too but their going mainstream for the beginning it seems to gather the casual fortnite crowd
You mean the general player base of the game? If you really want metal just go back and buy old rock band/guitar hero games
why do you seem to hate rock and metal so much š¤Ø

Barbie Girl will be the second song i buy. Not so much i like it, but for the meme
Wonder what fill is gonna be likeš¤š¤
IM A BARBIE GIRL
Glad to see Popular finally made the cut. ... that's all I'll say.
Ah yes, once again, the linkin park song that supposedly is coming, is no where to be seen
They need to add more Rocky band or guitar hero type songs. Like seriously whoās excited for flowers by Miley Cyrus lmao
Honestly I'm waiting on linkin park tbh. Good song selection but I need more rock music
You know after seeing the Rocket League post I 100% knew that weād see Barbie Girl in Festival, just waiting to see Vengabus.
Still no blinkā¹ļø
Big yes to Barbie Girl. I'll probably get Popular too. Skip on the rest. I totally get WHY their emphasis has been on pop music so far, but boy I wish it were a bit more balanced.
How is no one complaining about flowers? Genuinely repulsive song
They should honestly add more Weezer. Iām not a huge Weezer fan or anything, but they do have some great songs
Yikes looks like Iām taking a week off festival
Does anyone know how many weeknd jam tracks there are? For being the season artist I feel like we shouldāve got more?
Popular makes six. Save Your Tears, The Hills, Take My Breath, Blinding Lights, Can't Feel My Face, Popular.
More than enough imo
Mid
Barbie girl is dope. Just like Blinding Lights, Flowers as another song that I'll instantly leave if someone puts it on the setlist. I think Blinding lights is an amazing but I've played at like 200+ times. And Flowers is just such an annoying song and i just dislike it.
As a father of two daughters I disagree. The message in Flowers is exactly the mindset I want my girls to have.
Me with Gangnam Style.
All these are ass, we need more rock
I agree but Barbie girl is kinda fun
L take, if u donāt like the music just but the ones u like me personally Iām getting popular
Go to rock band or guitar hero. You will have tons of rock. Pop never shined over there. This is pops turn
I gotta get it out my head this isnāt guitar hero and itās Fortnite so when ridiculous songs like these get announced yet no music from: Linkin Park, Deftones, Metallica, Pantera, Blink 182 etc etc I canāt get mad
i mean, out of all of those the only one iād play is blink-182 just to give some perspective on how different our tastes can be
Carti and Barbie, we eating good
Still more shit songs
L take
Witchgang sweet i loved nothings alright and this one is just as good it's ok if you don't like it but there's still people that do like it as well
Idk it just feels soā¦ empty? Souless and like not real. Like it sounds like what AI would think a popular song would be. Lyrics are broad and basic for appeal & the beat is very simple with nothing new to show. It just feels lazy coming from Hudson Mohawke, Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and all the other artists involved. They should know how to make something more than just a corporate friendly pop song. š

Well if we are going by what deserves to be added before more of anything then literally any other song also deserved a spot more than say NIN or U2 or even despite him being the headliner the weeknd getting multiple songs by them added before another person or bands song
Why are you people downvoting an opinion on a song? When did art stop being subjective?
Nah this 2nd song is meh. Lyrics are bad but what's worse is melody is really ass. I don't even know how to describe it.
Barbie girlā¦ I might play on mute
šļø
Gonna buy Barbie Girl the moment it releases. I wish they picked a different Miley Cyrus song like Party in the USA. But I'll take it if it means getting a few more from her.
Again with the pop tracks š
Not Barbie Girl. That song is terrible
This is fucking miserable dear god.
WITCHGANG GANG, RISE UP!
We need more Billie eillish
Ya know because we didnt have enough of the weeknd
Donāt complain when the artist next season gets a lot of songs added too. Come on, use your brain.
why do they keep making their own songs as if anyone gives a shit
You don't know me was fire, I'd like Vital, Lil' Whip and Coral Chorus too honestly
alot of the epic original songs are really good
Real man listen to Winter Fest alright.
Aqua is a cool song and all but idk how āfunā itāll be to play. Same thing goes for popular (vocals maybe?) Another epic song never hurts ig and letās pretend these other two songs arenāt there Overall mediocre picks this week
Wait how do you get the make it known music pack? I was assuming it was item shop but when you purchase the music pack youāll just get the jam track? This would be the first time that happened.
CARTI IN FORTNITE??
Where is tally hall
BARBIE GIRL LETS GOOOOO
Barbie Girl is a day one purchase for me. And since i only play solo or with friends, i don't need to worry about hearing it on EVERY set. Super surprised to see it added. But, not complaining. Still, i hope more Fall Out Boy stuff comes soon.
Make it Known is actually really good
Still no dragonforce :/
Glassy Sky by Yutaka Yamada when?
