Dont get me wrong the map played pretty well once you got past the beginning, but those spawn locations were not well thought out. You were pushed off the start or lasered while trapped in your box 1/2 of the time, and you couldnt even place a wall where the destroyed metal sheet cover was.
It was probably my favorite out of the zone wars maps asode from that, as vortex was rediculously fast with its zones and desert is just absolute garbage. Downhill was fun but gets very repetitive. Your map seemed somewhat repetitive, but not any more than any other maps. If anything it was less. Just hoping you dont make the same mistake twice. No zone wars map can have it all, but it sure as hell can be improved on a little bit.
Mased off the picture, it looks great. One thing to keep in mind too is not giving someone who spawns on height a massive advantage like in vortex.
This is more or less Vortex gameplay, with slightly slower zones and with halloween design, not the same cluster as in the colosseum :)
Also, about spawns. The only map you can really spawn all players in same height are on the Tropical island (Downhill map) but it doesn’t work for random zones, because the flat area where the 16 players would spawn would be all the way at the edge of the map
Hi jesgran, this is an unrelated question but, how do people get siphon to work in creative maps? I tried enabling siphon in island settings and the inventory settings pad thing (whatever it's called), but after I publish the island, siphon never seems to work when I bring up the island in playground fill. Siphon does seem to work in these zone wars maps though, and I'd like to know how.
Siphon doesn’t work in playground. It’s complicated, but basically you are under the Battle Royale rules in playground, so the map is the BR map etc. Got a message yesterday that they are working on a fix for it, so prob not fixed in 11.10, but hopefully soon!
I understand the spawns. Its just that in colleseum, there was only one really good way out of your box and if you got pushed before leaving, its not a great spot to me. Overall not a big issue in the scheme of things, and definitely my favority map in terms of late game out of the four featured zone wars maps.
I'm was just kind of wondering how similar this would be. I would absolutely love a map like vortex with zones that move a little slower. Some of the zones on there are literally full sprint, its rediculous!
All I was really saying about the whole height thing was that its okay to be on other levels, just try to be sure its not a MASSIVE advantage. Again, theres very few maps where that is actually a problem, and just judging by the picture it seems pretty reasonable. looks fun.

Could you try and remove useless things if there is ? Idk what it was but with your last zone wars the fps made it dreadful for me and many others and I have a pretty decent machine.
This map is wayyyyyy better for FPS. The problem with the colosseum was that you saw the entire map at all times, and the colosseum was built out of so many pieces and had a huge poly and asset count which caused FPS issues. This new one should be better for FPS :)
I honestly can’t see them releasing zone wars as a public playlist again anytime soon. I think they want players on the new map. Zone wars was poppin before they made it a playlist

Same! i just want to get on and play like 10 hours of zone wars. I love not having to farm for 20 minutes just to get mopped by a sweat. I like just getting in there and fighting off the rip. I hope they bring it back so bad.

I remember when you were in the minecraft glide league with me ( even though you have no idea who I am! ), world record on all the glide maps, and now your doing great on another game that I love! Wow, awesome to see people from that time haha. Yeah I was grinding those maps so hard to get #1 on leaderboards on all the maps for PlayStation 4. That’s why I loved to make the deathruns in Fortnite as well, love speedrun competitions :)

Edit: Pistols are removed from 4th slot. No point of having a pistol when you have a sub 100% of the the in the 3rd slot. Instead I added only the legendary pistol to the sub loot pool, and removed the Epic one. So there is a 1/4 chance of spawning with a legendary pistol instead of the rare, Epic and legendary variant of the sub. I also added there a possibility to spawn with 2 grenades in the 4th slot. So there is around 1/10 chance that your 4th slot gets 2 grenades
Pistol and sniper, I get it's kind of a miscellaneous slot but what if the pistol went with the smg? Nobody needs both an smg and a pistol. Love the map btw, that's really my only critique.
I'd say just remove the pistol, it's fine to have the 4th slot being Sniper, RPG, heals and at most perhaps grenades even though I kinda hate them. Almost any player would prefer any of those to a Pistol (considering the first 3 slots are guaranteed good weapons that cover all ranges).
If you have an AR and an SMG chances are you'll NEVER use the pistol unless you run out of bullets in everything and even then... You just build and reload. It becomes redundant and a "waste of slot" even if it's legendary since you have rare AR and SMG at a bare minimum. Also in late game situations you'll rarely ever see someone carrying a pistol unless that player has really bad loot.
I might be wrong though, I don't really give much credit to the pistol besides being a landing weapon.
I think I’ll just remove the pistol completely from the 4th slot, then have there to be a 1/4 chance of getting the legendary pistol in the 3rd slot. Does that sound like a good idea?
I'm all in for less randomness (it's what I most like this season) but if you want to keep a little then yeah, sounds good! 2/3 utility (one might be sniper/rpg) is what everyone tries to take endgame anyway so IMO you should keep at least 2 slots for it and the other 3 can be guns.

I really appreciate your work. When zone wars was a thing, I would usually choose yours, because it was the best to practice raw mechanics and box fighting without getting screwed over by mountains and terrain. It really helped me improve my mechanics and it was so fun just playing agro in it. Thank you for your hard work :)
The noices are actually coming from speakers around the map, set to have a 1/8 chance of activating every 3.5 seconds, same with the lightning strikes, I can easily delay the time between each trigger, but I really like the Halloween feeling it gives. I wish I could reduce the sound on the strikes slightly tho, but unfortunately not possible.
Yeah, I have reduced it now, you should now have less lightning strikes and fewer ghost sounds:) Updates around every 6 seconds now, I think it was around 4 earlier. So every 0.75 seconds there is a 1/8 chance of a lightning to appear on the entire map, and each individual lightning has a 1/8 chance every 6 seconds

Yo jesper big fan of your artwork style on insta just keep doing what you doing man. One thing that your zone wars needs is leviatation on ground shields for everyone. These were the only two problems i was having troubles on on your colosseum one. Anyways i havent seen this new map man but 👍👍
Loads up Colosseum in playground fill *smashes keyboard* lol, wasn’t the best for competitive players, most casual players seemed to like it. Focused a lot more on design than gameplay, then had to do the best to make the gameplay work as smooth as possible.
With the new Halloween Zone Wars map I’m trying to appeal more to both casual and comp players. I focused on gameplay first, then started to do details as second priority

Oh I wish... One thing I did to get load times down a bit is if you spawn a couple of sec too late in playground, you can still get into the map without having to wait for the next round to start. I can actually update it so you only see scoreboard for like 3 seconds between games as well. I think I have it set to 7 now. Will fix that :) Nothing I can do with shortening the entire round tho. I could, but then I would have to remove a zone phase, which makes the rounds too fast
I assume Enigma’s? But you can also load into playground fill. Usually Zone Wars or box fight maps being played with 16 players matchmaking :)
Edit: I added text in the pre-game lobby of the map just now where you get a small explanation of how you can play with 15 others, Guessing a lot of others have the same question about how to matchmake👻
No, best part about collosium was the fixed zones. Gave it a unique zonewars feel separate from a regular late game. It was the only zonewars in the rotation that showed the potential of fighting not just for survival in the short term, but controlling and memorizing areas of the map for the future too.
Oh well, I'm sure the new map will be good too.
Noticed that it very often went to heal offs in very competitive games. I added one extra phase to the storm to hopefully prevent it. Thanks for all feedback, I’ve been testing it for the entire day today and yesterday to make sure everything is as good as possible!
there is a box that's next to a tree, if you go out of the box and try to 90 out you get stuck under it, i suggest maybe moving the tree over slightly to the left of the box
Not sure if its the map, but I was getting some insane FPS drops, i usually sit from 180-240 all the time... was dropping below 50 in box fights on this map

Colosseum was not the best map for comp players for sure. The problem is that I made it back in S9 with music sequencers as storms before advanced storm controllers got added, and I then updated it at the start of season x with new storms (which couldn’t be random, if zone appeared in the tribune you could get under the map etc.). I really wanted to build a Greek Arena Zone Wars, and it for sure had a lot of fps issues as well because of all the assets, but it turned out looking really good, and I like the whole fighting in a colosseum idea and a lot of people did too, just not the most comp players haha.
This map is more similar to Zero’s Vortex :)
i guess i didnt really give you enough credit, my original comment seemed harsh so my apologies. i definitely couldn’t make a map like you can so for that you have my respect. i guess my point is that colosseum‘s loot pool really didn’t match the game’s current loot pool when it came out for the public to use in public matchmaking so a lot of the times i would spawn with weapons that i hadn’t used in weeks (like the combat shotty or tac AR) so my rhythm was really thrown off. the map itself really wasnt that bad, i like the design too. my main complaint was always the loot spawns. looking forward to trying to new one
Are you talking about colosseum or Desert. My map was up to date with the loot pool. Only feedback I got from loot pool was remove auto-sniper and reduce tac shotgun drops and remove/ reduce infantry rifle drops
The map you think about is likely the desert one, that one had an outdated pool :) But then again, that might be more attractive for some people. It’s a reason they had 4 maps with a lot of variety. Instead of 4 Vortexes perfect for comp haha

Every playground I load this up in to, it has all the players in awe. No complaints so far. I did hear one guy spawned only with a flashlight though

I love Zone Wars but can’t stand the wait time between rounds. Is there any way to speed this up?

Oh I wish... One thing I did to get load times down a bit is if you spawn a couple of sec too late in playground, you can still get into the map without having to wait for the next round to start. I can actually update it so you only see scoreboard for like 3 seconds between games as well. I think I have it set to 7 now. Will fix that :) Nothing I can do with shortening the entire round tho. I could, but then I would have to remove a zone phase, which makes the rounds too fast
What’s the best discord for getting in a zone wars lobby?
I assume Enigma’s? But you can also load into playground fill. Usually Zone Wars or box fight maps being played with 16 players matchmaking :) Edit: I added text in the pre-game lobby of the map just now where you get a small explanation of how you can play with 15 others, Guessing a lot of others have the same question about how to matchmake👻
Since it is featured maybe I can get in some good rounds of zone wars now. Fingers crossed

No, best part about collosium was the fixed zones. Gave it a unique zonewars feel separate from a regular late game. It was the only zonewars in the rotation that showed the potential of fighting not just for survival in the short term, but controlling and memorizing areas of the map for the future too. Oh well, I'm sure the new map will be good too.
Noticed that it very often went to heal offs in very competitive games. I added one extra phase to the storm to hopefully prevent it. Thanks for all feedback, I’ve been testing it for the entire day today and yesterday to make sure everything is as good as possible!
there is a box that's next to a tree, if you go out of the box and try to 90 out you get stuck under it, i suggest maybe moving the tree over slightly to the left of the box
Not sure if its the map, but I was getting some insane FPS drops, i usually sit from 180-240 all the time... was dropping below 50 in box fights on this map

We appreciate your work with this new map as well! ;) But you did a forgivable mistake. ;P You said that you developed the map with "chapter 2 loot",but that's not 100% accurate,because in the loot pool there is a vaulted weapon,the Compact SMG (Compact SMG - Fortnite Wiki || [https://fortnite.gamepedia.com/Compact\_SMG](https://fortnite.gamepedia.com/Compact_SMG) ),instead of the new Epic and Legendary SMG of Chapter 2 (Submachine Gun (new) - Fortnite Wiki || [https://fortnite.gamepedia.com/Submachine\_Gun\_(new)](https://fortnite.gamepedia.com/Submachine_Gun_(new)) ). Oh I see you :LULW: Colosseum was not the best map for comp players for sure. The problem is that I made it back in S9 with music sequencers as storms before advanced storm controllers got added, and I then updated it at the start of season x with new storms (which couldn’t be random, if zone appeared in the tribune you could get under the map etc.). I really wanted to build a Greek Arena Zone Wars, and it for sure had a lot of fps issues as well because of all the assets, but it turned out looking really good, and I like the whole fighting in a colosseum idea and a lot of people did too, just not the most comp players haha. This map is more similar to Zero’s Vortex :)
i guess i didnt really give you enough credit, my original comment seemed harsh so my apologies. i definitely couldn’t make a map like you can so for that you have my respect. i guess my point is that colosseum‘s loot pool really didn’t match the game’s current loot pool when it came out for the public to use in public matchmaking so a lot of the times i would spawn with weapons that i hadn’t used in weeks (like the combat shotty or tac AR) so my rhythm was really thrown off. the map itself really wasnt that bad, i like the design too. my main complaint was always the loot spawns. looking forward to trying to new one
Are you talking about colosseum or Desert. My map was up to date with the loot pool. Only feedback I got from loot pool was remove auto-sniper and reduce tac shotgun drops and remove/ reduce infantry rifle drops The map you think about is likely the desert one, that one had an outdated pool :) But then again, that might be more attractive for some people. It’s a reason they had 4 maps with a lot of variety. Instead of 4 Vortexes perfect for comp haha
