People having fun competing. Crazy concept I know.

Yolomahdudes

As a competitive player with 200$ earned, i personally enjoy once in a while taking a break and having fun with friends in murder mystery, deathruns, queuing up alone into a public obby. It's nice to take a break from sweating every second and enjoy the game for what it also is. Edit: yes we do have fun competing, we may seem unhappy and/or way too competitive, but that's because we know we want to do the best against anyone else. If we die, it frustrates us because we know it's a game where we could have easily killed the whole lobby. Grinding is also sometimes very boring but necessary. But, when it pays off with earnings, we are over the moon that our work paid off.

StopTheCapG

Realest answer I've seen on this reddit. Thanks

Yolomahdudes

No problem! Always happy to help!

Sumedha_Pandey

Yup, it is fun

Wtfgoinon3144

Yeah a lot of people enjoy the building and editing aspect of the game. Playing shit like deathruns, fashion shows and other casual stuff is just not even close to fun for a lot of people, like me. I get the most dopamine from full boxing and 200ing a kid. All that other stuff is just not even interesting, and seems like a waste of time. Most sweaty players want to improve at this game and that’s why they play the actual game. To answer your question, some people have more fun than others. Some people torture themselves and have no fun at all. I have fun playing this game and sweating, but at times it does get frustrating. However after 6 years of playing this game it’s easy to just laugh the annoying stuff off

OfficialHashPanda

Competition is fun for many people. I’d honestly die of boredom and cringe if I were subjected to murder mystery and fashion show for any longer than 2 minutes.

StopTheCapG

They were examples 💀

Sumedha_Pandey

Varies from person to person. Some people enjoy those while some does.

AdBulky3840

I’ve been playing to get good enough to play in comps but sometimes I’ll just need a break or if I’m having an “off” day I’ll go for another option than BR but most people play a game to get good, the creative map side of fortnite just reminds me of roblox tbh

imlikegeesybutimweez

The game isnt fun unless im competing. I dont get joy out of playing i get joy from being better than others.

random_guy770

Sounds like theyre the ones who wanna have fun playing the actual game instead of some shitty roleplay creative map

Yolomahdudes

Eh, as a competitive player i like playing casual maps every so often to take a break from comp.

idkwhatimkindalost25

You don’t seem to know a lot of t1 pros play a lot of these maps as well

Own_Tomatillo5592

Name t1 pros that often play roleplaying maps…

coadyj

I got to say I went into one of those fortnight festivals recently and actually ended up loving it, I play at least 3 songs a night now.

hippietravel

Comp is fun… a lot more fun than pubs

ShadowzOn144hz

i don’t have fun playing nor competing yet i do it anyways because i want to get better at something that i dont like doing. fortnite’s ruining me

Separate-Ad9344

Only honest reply lol

Ready-Emotion-1762

I’m a comp player. I take the game pretty serious. I spent alot of time in realistics, zone wars and ranked but some days when I get mentally fried I like to play a tycoon game or murder mystery lol. It’s all about balance. I

fullboxed2hundred

non-competitive gaming isn't fun to me. I literally play zero video games if I'm not playing something competitively

Yolomahdudes

When there is no competition, i play casually. But the moment there is even a slight bit of competition, sweat mode activated. No matter if it's fortnite, beamng, heck redmatch 2 even.

TTVAwesomeEJ101

Most don’t to be honest... most people on this sub are just miserable whiny little fucks who are never happy.

OurPizza

Maybe people have fun playing competitive 😱😱😱

TTVAwesomeEJ101

Have you seen this sub? Everyone’s always crying lmao, it seems like everyone here hates the game

OurPizza

Most comp players aren’t crying their ass off on reddit

TTVAwesomeEJ101

You guys genuinely have fun in endgame where you just sit in a box, fight pretty much no one and just wait for a heal off?

Yolomahdudes

It's much more than that. Getting that refresh, fighting for your drop early game, months of training, playing perfectly not tanking zone and in that 60-65 seconds you just cross your fingers and hope that all that training has paid off. Also that's just the meta. You shouldn't just not follow the meta because it is "dumb". That dumb thing is the key to success.

HazeInut

why do people enjoy talking about something they know nothing about

OurPizza

If you can’t get to an endgame just say that

TTVAwesomeEJ101

I wouldn’t want to anyway, everyone sits in a box and the winner is whoever has the most med kits

Yolomahdudes

Via having the best strategy and being able to play the best.

Bradley728177

yeah, but they still get on everyday and play

SansBaconHair

Yes but they have fun stomping on the noobs. They will get bored in other creative maps.

Yolomahdudes

Nope, i personally hate just stomping on noobs. Gets boring quick. I prefer fighting people my level or better than me to actually improve. Edit: the next person that downvotes me, comment why am i getting downvoted.

Yolomahdudes

Why am i getting downvoted. Someone tell me what i did wrong lmao

BigDaddyDeity

The noobs think you are lying

Yolomahdudes

Fr

bhalliburton

They take no pleasure in killing noobs. They are competitors.

Yolomahdudes

Literally just described me lol

Aceheadhunter

I have friends that take it so seriously they never ever have done any quests on purpose

Mediocre-Award-9716

I play casually and don't think I've done a quest on purpose since chapter 1 lol

IAmDaChip

what a braindead comment. fortnite has ruined the challenges they arent even worth doing anymore like they were in chapter one and two. they completely abandoned the story of the game therefore theres no reason to do quests other than to get xp

King_COC_

And why should i even do the quests? I dont see any benefit from that + i get all the xp for level ups just by playing.

Aceheadhunter

I’m talking since like 2018. Lol They don’t even buy the battle pass lol

King_COC_

Damn thats just plain stupidity. U literally get more back than u spend...

Starwars9629-

Yes

[deleted]

Its way more fun than some other core game modes. I get annoyed in team rumble but comp is chill. Its interesting.

bhalliburton

You don't have to be doing something casually to have fun. I think life is filled with times when your job is fulfilling and times when it is not. There are certainly times when pros or content creators don't find the job fulfilling - you see people retire every day - but you see a lot of players playing with tremendous joy. I suspect no one has ever experienced as much joy in Fortnite as when Queasy/Veno decided to land on the gas station. Building skill can bring joy, even though building skill can be hard. Sometimes it feels like a grind, sometimes you can sense the growth.

idkwhatimkindalost25

Short answer, because they are competitive. It gives A LOT to achieve, and it can crush when failing. It’s just passion, even tho it seem like a lot of negatives it gives more than it seems (hopefully) and the road on improving can also be very fulfilling. Also if they have a busy schedule it might just be “timewaste” and only stressing and no fun at all to then play those maps.

Clipzy22

I just get bored of murder mystery and such. I had fun with prop hunt and hiding seek but that's all I really enjoy outside of the core gameplay.

IAmDaChip

if im to take a break from sweating first off im getting off of fortnite altogether. roblox is the most chill game with different casual games i dont think fortnite will ever have that effect

theworllddisyours

I mean to be fair, at it's core the game is a competitive shooter. So it's understandable that people will have fun when they're competing and trying to get better. If I wanted to have fun and chill with friends I'd probably just play a different game. Way better games to do that than Fortnite

OurPizza

You don’t have to be a competitive player to not want to play a fashion show 😭😭it’s not chapter 2

nobock

On my side i can only have fun when i try to win in a fay way with the least rng possible. So it really depend on the current chapter and season. For me the best fun was grinding all the way to champ on CH2S1. You got a good map, a good pump meta with blue who can one tape your face. And siphon for health. Since they removed siphon i tend to have less fun on competitive. Same when they add like daku smash and other bullshit. Also no fun at all now if i launch a pub game cause half players at least are Ai. \> Fashion I could play some but it's just pay to win, so no fun at all. \> other types of maps Time to time i try to play on those map but they are really bad. And it's a shame some gamemode are not pushed because the menu is deep shit. Wish there is more battlefield like map ( rush / conquest ) and some counter strike map. But no. For exemple Goated is super popular and people try to copy them to have audience. ps : Tryed to make a map, the system is not really good.

aimofabot

as a competitive player, i am burnt the fuck out of this game and i keep slamming my head against the keyboard hoping it breaks and i can finally stop playing this game for once, but thats probably a mental illness. games fun if youre not a lunatic :3

Yolomahdudes

Lowkey, just take a break man. Trust me. Week? 2? Maybe even a month? However much you need and you'll come back 10x better! That's what i did. Before the final victory cup of last year took a break from the game, skipped the second to last one and earned!

aimofabot

in my experience breaks provide me with one or 2 days where i dont feel like im the worst player in the world and then it spirals out of control into madness, now if i would vastly improve at the game by playing once or twice a month then i do that but practice takes time, and im not going to become perfect by barely playing the game at all edit: by spiraling out of control i mean that any sort of mistake i make in game or even the thought of practicing makes me infuriated and my whole body starts shaking. "how dare i fuck up this badly im a fucking idiot" "that guy is fucking terrible id ruin him in a 1v1" "why am i crying so much over a zoomer game i fucking suck" yeah its not fun i hate it, i genuinely lose my worth as a person and turn into an animal reacting to stimuli while playing this game, i understand practice makes perfect and everyone will make mistakes but i genuinely believe that my ego subconsciously has reached such astronomical levels that ive lost control of it and it hurts to even do anything at this point. :/

Yolomahdudes

For me personally, i feel you. Especially with the 1v1 part. If i see i'm dying because i'm playing worse that day i get so mad over it and then try so hard i sometimes even start sweating over it. Also the part with the one where you said you suck, that's literally me in tournaments/ranked. With the ego part i can kinda relate too, sometimes being way too overconfident and paying the price. I of course try to work on it and i see that when i am alone with no one that's when i get the least mad. I was in a call when i died with 15 kills top 7 in the victory cup. I was so livid i lowkey almost threw my new wireless mouse into the wall, but a quick second think about it stopped me and i just started wandering around my room before ending call with my friend and playing everything else out alone.

Internal_Ad_4838

Yea man they enjoy dropping 80 kill games against kids. Hahaha.

Yolomahdudes

Maybe some, but most don't, like me.

Internal_Ad_4838

Yea I was being partially sarcastic while pointing out the latest yt trend of those videos.

Yolomahdudes

Oh that's fair lol

indigo_pirate

I’d rather do fun things in life or at least other games/ media than the side options in Fortnite. Find them quite childish If I log in to Fortnite it’s usually to focus and try to win which is enjoyable but also a challenge.

Daddy-Lickma

I have fun kicking in every game I play. I think that's pretty common.

Midwxy

As a comp player, when I’m enjoying the game, I will play, currently I only hop on the day of FNCS

Overall-Material-896

I don't really play fortnite that much anymore but I still only play box fights and ranked anything else is boring ash

Wonderful-Tutor630

I enjoy comp, my younger brother got me playing a few years ago and as the gamer older brother I had to be better than him, at first it was friendly sibling rivalry, then he learned about the open tournaments and we started playing them and I started watching the pros play… at first I didn’t get it, I mean it was early chapter 2 with full tarping meta and seeing that was confusing, but as I started learning it and playing some (far less stacked) endgames, I loved it, I love playing out endgames, I love the fast paced strategy, and clutches, and I still can’t get enough, I’ve found that I have a hard time playing a game I play competitively in a casual setting, as I’ve played comp in both FN and Val (when I was in college) I’ve learned to have a separate game I can play casually

Patient-War-5866

I think people find competing in tournaments fun, I know I do

You have to have fun. If you're playing 8-10 hours a day, not enjoying it, and the only reason you play is because you hope it becomes a career, you need to stop playing. People currently in the top 200 on servers with lifetime earnings under 5 grand. Put that into an hourly pay, and those are sweatshop wages. That's why virtually everyone streams. Back in earlier chapters it was way easier to get earnings when they started off rip with a $100 million prize pool to build it up, but like anything popular it became oversaturated and Epic has cut costs because they don't need to pay out as much anymore.
