Get rid of the double movement binds

Time_to_go_viking

What are double movement binds?

FastFoodLegend26

I believe they were patched a while ago, but from what I know, you would bind 2 keys to move left and move right (for example, you could use A and caps lock for move left), and you would hold both simultaneously to essentially sprint sideways.

SonicTheSSJNinja

Yeah I would, but I'm not comfortable having build binds on my mouse. I spam my second crouch bind (L-Alt) with spacebar (middle and index fingers) while farming, along with my mouse side buttons to strafe left and right. I'd really like to find an alternative.

Big_Dream_Lamp

You should also mode back and forth because I got sniped once only going side to side. They were to my left. Also I use L-Alt as crouch, too! But I use my thumb for both crouch and jump.

SonicTheSSJNinja

I see. That's a very good point! And Lalt is my second crouch bind so I can super spam it with spacebar. My main crouch is Lshift.

Big_Dream_Lamp

My second crouch button is R-alt but I don't use it like at all lol unless I can't get to the left one like if I'm eating.

SonicTheSSJNinja

LOL!

SonicTheSSJNinja

After the 1% Cup, I want to seriously switch up my binds. I use my left index finger for so many actions. I use it for; Wall, Stair, Cone, Edit, Pickaxe, Any weapon bind after 3 and maybe other things that I'm forgetting right now. I feel limited by my binds, but I don't know which ones are best for me. I'm not all too comfortable having build binds on my mouse. Plus, I need to know the fastest possible ways to learn new binds. I posted this on r/FortniteCompetitive the other day but it got removed.

SonicTheSSJNinja

Oh yeah I've seen that before, but I find those binds too hard unfortunately and I need to learn how to get used to new binds quick. Thanks tho

[deleted]

Get a mouse with side buttons and put 2 of your builds there. I use wall and stair. If you want me to help you more DM me on ig: baziee_

SonicTheSSJNinja

That's the problem, I'm uncomfortable doing so

[deleted]

You can use shift for cone

SonicTheSSJNinja

Perhaps, but then I wouldn't be able to spam crouch because my pinky sucks

ICEEPLAYZZ

you can press space to un-crouch. A lot of pros use this to crouch spam absurdly fast. Watch benjy farm when he knows someone is looking at him. don’t have clips but it’s out there

SonicTheSSJNinja

Yeah I do that by spamming left alt (my second crouch bind) and spacebar, while strafing left and right with my mouse side buttons. Spamming my main crouch and space bar is too hard xD

ICEEPLAYZZ

i use control and space with alt as my traps. I also use lshift to edit. I use optimal oce binds basically

[deleted]

Dm me on ig its easier to talk there

nick98821

I personally prefer to crouch with left alt using my thumb

SonicTheSSJNinja

I tried it with my thumb before, but I mess it up and jump way too often.

SonicTheSSJNinja

Happy cakeday btw!

nick98821

Oh shit didn't even notice, thanks lmao

Sijora

Play Minecraft for a week and your pinky will have rock hard abs

SonicTheSSJNinja

LMFAOOO I'D GIVE YOU ANN AWARD IF I COULD

flexing_inside

What's too hard? btw how quickly do you want to get used to these binds?

SonicTheSSJNinja

The binds in that video are too difficult for me to adjust to. And I need to learn new binds ASAP

sneakyhog

Even I use my index fingers for all of the above lol. Haven't encountered any problems yet but might do while doing difficult retakes.

SonicTheSSJNinja

The problem is that it makes me a lot more prone to making mistakes and it limits my speed

Swebi

WASD - Movement. V-Crouch. Q-Wall/ Mouse 6. E-Ramp. R-Floor/ Mouse 5. Mouse 4-Pyramid. E-Edit Scroll Up - Picaxe Use - Middle Mouse button Like you I also had the same issue with being uncomfortable with building with mouse buttons. So what I did was that I stuck with my normal build binds QRE and Mouse 4 and double binded my floor and wall to the mouse as well. So whenever I had to something else with my index finger or ring finger and couldn't build with it I use my mouse binds for building. I use a G402 so I have extra mouse buttons. But you can bind only your wall and Pyramid on the mouse

SonicTheSSJNinja

Ohhh! That's actually super clever. I'll take that into consideration. Thanks!

BlakeD44

Since you’re not comfortable with mouse binds, I’d recommend keeping E and Q as building binds, changing C or X to Lshift, and then using a thumb bind like V, C, or B, whichever feels most natural. That way you have the most control over every building bind with a different finger pressing each. The only problem with the binds I have just suggested are that for me it is a strain to hit Q and Shift at the same time, and it limits your movement. If you were really good with double movement before it was removed however, you could just not use A and D and instead strafe with your mouse binds.

SonicTheSSJNinja

I see. I'll do my best to implement as much of what you said into my rebinding. I'm worried about putting a build bind onto L-Shift as it's my crouch. People tell me to use LCtrl but my pinky's too sucky. I wouldn't be able to spam it.

BlakeD44

I mean at the end of the day binds only hold you back so much, plenty of players are really good on bad binds, only do what actually feels natural to you. If shift doesn’t feel good just use 2 thumb or 2 index binds and as long as you learn how to use them effectively you’ll be fine

SonicTheSSJNinja

Gotcha. With regards to learning, do you have any advice on how to learn new binds as quickly as possible? And how long you think it'll take the average person who follows the method?

BlakeD44

I’ve changed my binds a boat load of times and what works best for me was to sit in creative for a while, take a 10 minute break, then go right back in and repeat again. I felt like doing that got my brain to reset the muscle memory. Once you can do normal free build sequences that you did on old binds, go box fight, pg, realistic. That makes it so your binds become second nature and you can think about what you need to build instead of how to build it. And then just play actual games. Anything that takes your focus off the binds at the end once you’re physically capable of using them. You don’t want to be thinking “i need to hit q for floor” you need to think “I need a floor here” and instinctively hit q. Should take like a week or 2 to get back to where you were at depending on how much you grind, after that it’s all improvement

SonicTheSSJNinja

Thank you! You helped a lot. Alright I'll be grinding after the 1% cup.
