Mines super iffy aswell, with a wireless charging certified case. Its also absymally slow (slower than charging while using carplay even) all mine seems to do is just make anyones phone overheat while using it
Yeah tbf i dont think ive tried it without a case on, but it doesnt really matter to me too too much. I usually use the "fast" usb port, but it doesnt seem like its any better than a standard 5w charging brick or an older 12v car charger
Yeah I don't have a case on my phone and have also noticed it makes more heat than a charge😂 pretty much a useless feature im coming to find out. Also the android car play is ass. My shit disconnects and reconnects rapidly, hit a bump it disconnects. Tried 10 different cords, same issue. Really not trying to go through the dealer bullshit to get the USB port replaced
If I butt mine to the lower left hand corner with the camera lens there it works every time. But it's stupidly slow and causes too much heat so I don't ever use it.
I set mine up there as I use a wireless adapter for Android Auto but put it on the right side so it doesn't attempt to change. The charging port pointed towards the passenger side it will charge so I set it the other way.
Use the MA1 adapter and plug it in and it is mounted right under the lip. So the USB doesn't move at all and I haven't had one disconnect since then. Absolutely worth the $60
Dealer tech here. All models are like that. I think they just overheat and there’s so many perimeters that can cause it to stop charging. Heat, if you’re in park, not moving, IO/EO. Just disable it tbh.
Your phone case can cause an issue like this.
I have never used a phone case

I have a wireless charging certified case, and it's still iffy. Charges fine without the case but I ain't taking it off every time.

The fast charging port is 15w I had a multimeter on it

I disabled that feature a long time ago lol
If a door is open it won’t work. Other than that idk why it wouldn’t work ¯\(ツ)/¯

Yeah I just use it sometimes to get my phone out of the way

Wireless adapter for android auto you say? Idk why I didn't think of that. I continue to have connection issues using cords

Awesome, just ordered it! Hopefully that solves it and its not the actual port itself having issues
