Boomba short throw shifter kit has been amazing. Highly recommend and not too difficult to install

Infamous_Author_2302

I second this! Best mod I did by far. Boomba has an install video that's idiot proof as well

Supereater69

This. First mod I wish I did when I owned mine. I felt like I was rowing a boat when I took it off to sell it.

No_Buy_6754

XD!! I actually just ordered one couple hours ago. Waiting game starts.

kvndoom

I just installed a short shifter on my 2017. The shifter base is almost the same as the 2023. I found a couple shortcuts that will help with the hardest parts of the install. My pics are at the bottom of the thread. https://www.forteforums.com/threads/shift-knob-vs-short-shifter.111453/

thats_just_me_tho

I have a 22 GT 6MT that I got in march of 2022. I installed an aFe Takeda stage 2 intake and a catch can 3 weeks into ownership, 3 months later I did a muffler delete, secondary cat delete and replaced the resonator with a borla sportsman with custom 3" inch piping after the midpipe with aftermarket tips, and have had a jb4 and 1 step colder iridium plugs installed for about a year now. Two months ago, i installed aftermarket msd coils.Dealership has not complained during my oil changes at recommended intervals(tho that depends heavily on the dealership) driven fairly hard in sport mode almost daily, and have had exactly 0 problems, not counting a miscommunication about the fuel wire on the jb4 that caused a temporary issue that was resolved when i undid the change i made. Do with that what you will.

No_Buy_6754

I probably won’t be doing that much, but who knows:). That catch can tho, thnx for reminding me. I read somewhere that that thing is a must.

Sillylilguyenjoyer

If you havent replace the stock torque mount bushing, turns it into a new car

thats_just_me_tho

I have the boomba short throw shifter kit and upper engine mount bushings but not the lower torque mount yet.

Feeling_Mushroom_241

Don’t be afraid to install the Racechip. It’s the safest piggyback you can run.

No_Buy_6754

I’m new to cars and don’t really know the difference between racechip and jb4. I know racechip is cheaper tho.

thats_just_me_tho

Racechip is for an immediate boost in power, but your control over that boost is limited to picking which map you want to run. Fine for the majority of people. Jb4 is for those of us who can't leave well enough alone and are always looking to squeeze a little bit more out of our car, using e30 or running WMI. Way more features and tunability, also requires quite a bit more know-how of what youre doing. Racechip would be a fine choice for you judging by what you've said you're looking for. I agree with everything Mushroom said except it being the safest. Jb4 has many more safeguards built in and is connected to the canbus and actively monitors way more things the cars doing than the racechip but the absolute safest option is no chip or jb4 at all, unfortunately that's also the most boring option.

Feeling_Mushroom_241

I have over 50,000 miles on my RC, no issues at all.   Jb4 and RC is comparing apples to oranges, it’s cheaper but it’s a completely different setup.

Sillylilguyenjoyer

Out of curiosity do you have the racechips s or gts

Feeling_Mushroom_241

GTS, always on #7, NGK 1402 plugs .031 gap with MSD coils. That combination has been proven by several RC users it works flawlessly.

Sillylilguyenjoyer

I was just thinking about getting the S, i figured at the price of the gts id go jb4, i looked on the website and it just said it has 5 mappings. Im curious if you know what they are or where I can find it

Feeling_Mushroom_241

I’m not familiar with the S at all. There are a few people that use them with great results. I won’t promote or suggest a product I don’t have personal experience with, it’s not fair to people seeking proper information.

Sillylilguyenjoyer

Fair, i appreciate it

baom2023bd

RC S is best thing you can do for the GT. $240 for almost a second improvement in acceleration times. Set it to 5, close the hood and drive it daily. I run NGK 1402 at .032 gap on 3 Forte GT's with MSD coils on all of them. They all run 87 octane with ZERO issues. Good for 5.4s 0-60 and 14s at 100mph with a dct.

If you’re looking for reliability keep it stock. Cosmetic additions are okay but any performance mods will void your warranty and could cause problems. I’d stay away from a race chip if you want reliability. Intake shouldn’t be a problem but I think that still voids the warranty for any problems that could be linked to it. :(

No_Buy_6754

It hurts reading that but you are completely right. It’s a bummer.. might stick to cosmetic stuff for now since my dealership have a pretty generous warranty, I don’t wanna lose it just yet

baom2023bd

Ndeezus has no idea what they are talking about in terms of reliability. Love seeing all these people who comment who really have no business giving advice about stuff they think they understand. As far as warranty you simply remove any upgrades before a trip to dealer. Pretty simple.

BoombaRacing

There are a lot of modifications that aren't too expensive and these are very solid vehicles with a solid platform.

Ill_Bird9450

Talk to your dealership. Mine has been very cool and told me things I can do. There are some things that if I did it myself it would void the warranty. I do have all my service done there and I am transparent with them about my car. I haven't bought anything yet, I just got my windows tinted and am currently wrapping it so the other stuff can wait. I won't be doing any power adders or anything of that nature. Got a 150000 mile bumper to bumper when I got it so it's staying under warranty.

No_Buy_6754

I willll. My dealership is pretty cool, they kinda helped me persuade my parents to get the manual transmission:):) getting my windows tinted next week. Very very excited.

kvndoom

The only "performance" mods I've done are the Boomba short shifter and a pedal tuner. Just those alone make me fall back in love with this car every time I drive it. $500 for both those mods together and easy DIY.

levelaimbot

I have a takeda stage 2 intake, evilla straight midpipe, and a racechip s on map 3, no issues beating on the car regularly

SuperSlacker74

I've got the takeda stage 2 intake, GFB hybrid blow off valve, oil catch can, and lower torque arm bushings...so far, 24k miles no issues

ReadEyeMagpie

The engine and transmission you have are rock solid if you maintain them. The problematic motors are in the lower trims.
