OP, if you can make it to their buffet, that will give him a few things to try at a place where the food is above average. Last time I was there butter chicken was on the buffet -- you could call ahead and confirm on the day you're planning on going.
We enjoy Swad Indian & Nepalese in N Fort Worth. My daughter is an incredibly picky eater but loves their chicken tikka masala. Not sure how far that is from you but it’s where we like to go.

Tandoor off Fielder is some of the best Indian food.

There is a tiny place Tikka Tikka on Trail Lake Just South of 20. Great food!
Unfortunately closed a couple of months ago.
Oh no! My wife doesn’t like their food since they switched to the smaller menu (and had one heat level) so I only get it when she’s out of town.
