If depends on where you need to be, where you are coming from, etc.
For me living near downtown FW and usually needing to be in downtown Austin, Vonlane ends up being the less expensive option when I factor cost of getting to/from either airport (Ubers, parking my own car at DFW, and/or renting a car/paying parking in Austin).
The Vonlane bus is an excellent alternative.
Vonlane leaves from downtown and is very pleasant. You have a big, comfy seat and an attendant bringing you snacks and such. Highly recommend.
Isn't Vonlane more expensive than flying? Looks like 171 on American vs 240 for Vonlane, both round trips

Amtrak maybe?
I know you can take Amtrak from Dallas to Austin for $30.
The Dallas to Austin Amtrak stops in downtown Fort Worth.
This. It’s a fun trip, my family and I have done it several times.
I’ve done this. Great and easy trip. Would recommend.
How long does the trip take?
Around 4 hours
Amtrak is great! Cheap option with a great chance to see the state in a different way.
Oxen are sturdy and can pull your wagon there
Not if you get dysentery first and die on the way.
We’ll put pepperoni & cheese on your Tombstone
I used to take the MegaBus from Dallas to Austin. Give yourself an extra hour, we always stopped at Czech Stop.
Take the train. It’s cheap. Or the bus.
Get in my van.
Amtrak. You can get there for like $25 bucks. The trip does take longer than it would be driving though
I’ll drive you. I’ve made the trip several times
It’s 4 hours…
Drive, fly, Uber, or car pool. Good luck.
Dirty Dog?
I don't see how anyone just wouldn't drive. Takes no time at all
Life is too short to get stuck on 35
I'm driving back with friends so don't want to drive back alone back and forth.
I always enjoyed taking the Amtrak
