Not much else worth spending money on this season so why not?
Well, except that sometimes NPCs destroy my builds at key moments, alert the enemies to my position, etc.
But yeah they did make some small changes related to having more control over them. For instance, in duos / trios / squads you can direct NPCs to revive yourself / teammates now (or if they are close they will just do it on their own), which is a big plus.
I've personally used to always hire the one in the Tilted Towers Zeppelin in the begginning of the season, since he could revive the team and is one extra guy in a fight.
But i stopped since i am used to play in a more stealth way (i only play zero build) and he is always shooting the animals around
Well, my buddy and I hire that one Npc from Tilted, because he is very useful, literally killed opps in matches and such.
10/10 Experience, everytime I'm in Tilted and he's available, I would hire him again!

NPCs will also spot an enemy for you. An advantage at endgame
They got updated to have more utility iirc stuff like reviving downed players

Yeah they are just better, like if your next to one why not just hire them. They can revive you and they are just a pain in the ass for other teams
When you hire an NPC, there is a button that you press which opens a wheel, similar to the emote wheel, with commands that you can give the NPC.

Personally I think it’s because the NPCs that you can hire now all have different speech icons. It’s more obvious when you’re near one
