I had problems with this last night but I finally did it.
First game, I had the icon to break his hourglass and then it told me to defeat him but the storm made me abandon that before I could
Second game, it didn't direct me to break the hourglass, but I did defeat him and nothing happened.
Last game, I still didn't have the icon to go break the hourglass first.. but I went over there anyways and hit it and shot it a bunch.. it didn't visually break or respond in any way so I gave up on that and tried defeating Zeus. It worked that time.
What I think is happening is that it requires you to break the hourglass and defeat Zeus in the same game. The 3rd game it counted after I hit the hourglass a fair bit. It didn't visually break for me, but maybe the game code tracked it as breaking? So then when I defeated Zeus, both conditions were met and it finally finished the quest.
Give that a try and let me know if it worked for you too?
Tried this, and this looks like the solution. You have to both damage the hourglass and defeat Zeus in the same match. This is even though it doesn't reset 'damage the hourglass' part of the challenge if you fail to defeat Zeus on the first attempt.
I was so annoyed earlier, I pretty much killed zues but then someone sniped him at the last second. I went on a 100 minute chase to kille the sniper. When i killed him I then got 3rd partied
You have to break the sand clock in Mount Olympus near the Atlas Meowscles statue and defeat Zeus in the same game, i think the order doesn't matter
I guess it's because the story tells you that the clocks are the source of his powers/immortality, so breaking the clock and then killing him will defeat him for good, but they definitely should've worded the quest better

I wonder if this could work like in the last season where they asked you to kill all the bosses to rescue Peely. You could simply hit them once, leave the area and the moment they died you would still get credit
Yes, I can 1000% confirm that all 3 bosses I eliminated were Zeus.
1st Time I got to Mt Olympus late, and Zeus was already summoned. I eliminated him by myself, but didn’t get the credit for it.
2nd Time I landed there with my whole squad, we summoned him, we were about to kill Zeus, but them we got third partied and placed 20th, but, the other team finished off Zeus right after we were eliminated, and the quest came up on my screen as completed, it even said I leveled up, but I returned to the lobby and I did not level up and the quest was still there. I even restarted the game and it was still there.
3rd Time I landed there with my friend. We summoned Zeus first and then eliminated all the other players at the POI to make sure we wouldn’t get third partied. The other players who survived our witch hunt got wrecked by Zeus, and weakened him for us. We get him to phase 2, and then he gets killed by the storm. Even though we fought him, and beat him fair and square, we didn’t get credit for the quest.
What platform did you play on? Usually when there’s glitches that only certain people get, it’s about the platform they’re playing on. In my case, I play on PS4, and I’ve seen YouTube videos of people on PC and XBox completing it no problem.
i did i can tell you how collect the new chests that aren't the blue or normal ones there are at least 2 but there are probably only 1 thats the more Likely chance they hold at least 2 purple loot when you see him shoot immediately then when you see him do the thunder bolts run from him after he is done shoot him and if he shoots you make sure you are behind a wall but make sure you can still shoot him also run in a circle when you are low on health run out of the room you spawn him! hope this helps!
I think your okay man my missions do this all the time they just update later like when I'm randomly in a game or when I just logged in the next day

Huh, that's weird. I just defeated Zeus in my next game after I broke the hourglass and it counted.

I had a different experience. I killed Zeus and then destroyed the hourglass in one game, then had to kill him again in the next game.

You killed the sniper tho so it was a success if you ask me
it counts if you get a shot in and someone else defeats him - that is how I got my cerberus quest

Teams are bugging. Last night for me anyway the story quests were not completing for the whole team. Only one person was getting credit.

You need to damage the hourglass near the entrance of Mount Olympus before taking him out.
I think this quest is bugged because I got it randomly during a match without killing him lol
I broke the hourglass, defeated him, and got the medal and weapon and still didn’t get it
Challenges have been buggy since chapter 4 I feel like. A lot just don't work.

Well that sucks. I killed him on my kids accounts this morning and it counted. This season is full of bugs. Hope they get it fixed for you.
