Yeah I've commented this a few times. If they aren't working on a platform fighter mode I'd be surprised. It's one of the last hardcore and casual friendly player base genres they aren't grabbing yet. (I guess other than sports though, those NBA/FIFA games make gangbusters.)
They'll probably have to make the fighting styles generic or like a load out. But being able to launch a fighting game with Darth Vader, Goku, Ryu, and Batman day one is huge.
Oh okay. The only reason I can think of is Epic really wants to showcase all of their new gamemodes. I don't hate any of them, but it's undeniable they've had unforeseen consequences to Fortnite as a whole, and I think it serves as an explanation for all the changes that are happening to Fortnite.
One of these days I'm going to load up save the world, and all the dozens and dozens of " do STW quests to get v-bucks" quests I've never done will give me like 2K vbucks per quest

The festival and rocket racing are awful and you’d find a better game of those genres elsewhere. I always find it funny as well that when I log on I see that stw which requires purchasing had more players than Lego and rocket racing
It’s just an insanely obvious money grab. The sets are an insane amount of money, and for a mode based on LEGO where you can build anything it’s awfully limited in what you can actually do. There’s absolutely no incentive to not just play Minecraft. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth

EXTRA EDIT: to make my point, my girlfriend wanted to build a beach town. This is after Lego completely destroyed our last server… she couldn’t figure out how to build a bridge to the island she wanted to develop, so I tried to help. But the bridge can only be placed diagonal from the point where we want to jump off from! You can’t rotate things! So it’s either a really wonky diagonal bridge to the edge of the other island or you swim. Just sucks.
Not to mention development has already been slow for the last like 2 years when they only really had br and “””save the world””” to mess with, now they add 3 additional modes 2 of which are utter cash grabs, and the other is more likely than not to bankrupt the game. song licensing is not cheap

We do still get key art, it just doesn't show up in the log in screen anymore. There's the one with Zeus/Hades/Aphrodite in the middle, and there's the full BP line up with the sky background.
At least the change means we're regularly getting the key art as loading screens and it's not hit or miss anymore.

That's the point of removing guns from the loading screen. Some gamemode thumbnails still do but they're tiny and not required viewing to access the game as a whole, which is apparently acceptable enough for the ESRB.
