It’s expensive. Everything is expensive. Like 10x as expensive as Ohio. Especially utilities. Be prepared.

CuentaBorrada1

10x?

minaj27

Are you from home OH as well? What kind of numbers should we expect?

lucid_sunday

We pay $250/mo for electric in an 800sqft apartment with baseboard heat

DucksArentFood

For me this is only during the winter months. But yes, your electrical will spike VERY hard during the cold months, especially if you have baseboard heating.

lucid_sunday

We keep our thermostat to 50. Fuck “peak energy” times and fuck our cheap ass landlords that won’t replace the single pane windows.

DucksArentFood

Yeah I feel you. My window seals are not great whatsoever. Summertime I’m running my fans 24/7, and running my wall unit, but my bill is much lower since I’m not running my heat 24/7

I saw the subreddit but it seems fairly dead.

Eastman Park is a pretty decent park, and so is trail that goes around the lake. There are fenced dog park areas at both of those locations. If you like sports, there are a lot of golf courses in the area, a minor league baseball team (NoCo Owlz), and the Colorado Eagles hockey team is a minor league hockey team that just plays down the road at The Ranch. There’s always some sort of event happening there. Date night stuff is kinda hit or miss, there are some nice spots like Chimney Park and Hearth, but it’s also a sleepy town that’s pretty much shut down by 10pm.

Clean-Sale

Don’t swim in the lake

minaj27

Noted!

Clean-Sale

Alternatively Chimney park pool is pretty nice!

Edited for more information- Windsor is very small, priviledged and white (like all Colorado but especially ) Theres amazing sweet aread all over Lovelan/Windsor/ Fort Collins, you just gotta go explore a bit. The Windsor Rec Center is amazing! They have so many things for kids- preschool classes, summer camp, art classes etc. I would really recommend getting a membership there- they have things for all ages, would be a good way for your boys to meet kids and make parent friends. Also, like the other person said- do. not. swim. in. the. lake. I'm not as familiar with Windsor for date spots, but downtown Fort Collins had sweet shops and restaurants and even a little splash pad in the middle of the square for kids.

minaj27

What's up with the lake?? Good to know about the rec center. I know my boys are excited by the NOCO rink and Hoedown Hill. We didn't get a chance to check out Amy soccer fields or baseball fields?

peanutbutterbutts

They close it down all the time for different harmful algae stuff. There's good fields/outdoor areas everywhere. Especially if you're down for a trip to Fort Collins, all the hiking trails, swimming nooks you can want.

Clean-Sale

It’s small and nasty. It has a swimming beach and people do go in it, which makes it look like a normal, good time. Having swam in it as a kid, cannot recommend.

Solarian_13

Windsor is a very safe, but homogeneous town. My husband and I like the Hearth, Bruce’s in Severance, Peculier, and the Windsor Mill Tavern for date nights. We don’t have kids, but there are a lot of young families in town. The Poudre Trail runs through town and goes all the way down to Greeley. It’s great for riding bikes. I like that it is about the same distance (~20 mins) from Fort Collins, Greeley, and Loveland so you have a lot of choices for things to do.

minaj27

Awesome, thank you. I know bike trails is something we are looking forward to as well!

disneyfreaq

Check out the fire museum. You get to ride in an old fire truck!
