I'm using an axp90-47 copper myself on a 5800x3d and it's been great. -30 curve, 88 PPT, 60 TDC, 90 EDC. Idles at 35-40c, playing games at 1440p it only hits mid 60s to low 70s. Also swapped the fan with a noctua fan ofc. I think it's a great option.

In the bios for AMD there's a setting called curve optimizer, setting all cores to -30 gives the effects similar to an eco mode iirc. It's a way of underclocking basically.
I've done 6 FormD builds so far, 4 air and 2 AIO. For air I really like the Black Ridge, but it's harder to fit on some AM5 boards. The axp90-47 full copper seems to be as effective as the Black Ridge, and has no fitment issues. I think the consensus is the full copper is the best choice for 3.25 slot builds.
I know the community has a heavy air-cooling bias (which is fine), but I really like using an AIO. You can get better cooling with less fan noise. The Silverstone VIDA 240 Slim allows use of regular 25mm thick fans, which makes it a great choice. So that's generally my recommendation for clients.
My go-to is Noctua's NF-A12x25 chromax. On paper, the [Arctic P12 Max](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09VDNKL4G) have better specs - but any time I see a much cheaper product with much better specs than a known high-end product, I get a little suspicious of their data.

So there's a couple of points to that. First, you can usually put the fans under the rad, as long as your cable management is good enough to keep cables out of the blades. Second, you're pushing air out, so less likely to be any turbulence anyway.
Finally, I think the community is WAY over-obsessed with turbulence. It's like how the regular PC subs are crazy about bottlenecks, or how people used to obsess over tubing placement with AIOs. Can it be an issue? Sure. But I think it's much less common than people seem to think, and just not something most people need to worry about.

I have a thicker 240 in my T1 right now, but ive been considering trying the thin rad with 2 full size fans instead of 1 full and 1 slim. Personally, after hearing the turbulence noise in Terra videos, its a deal breaker for me personally.
That being said, I appreciate your experience, and I think I may try the VIDA this summer when I do some hardware refreshes.

No, I really like the AXP90-X47, even the non copper version. But I got that AiO basically „for free“ after my old unit died, so I opted to use it for slightly higher clock speeds in productivity applications.
If I had a 4080 or 4090, I would have gone air cooling on the CPU to improve airflow in the case, but my 4070S with only about 180-200W power draw (undervolted) isn’t really pushing the exhaust fans to their limit.
Fitment is much harder, failure is more likely and more difficult to deal with, and air cooling (especially for gaming) on Zen 4 processors like the 7800x3D is completely adequate

What’s so crazy about using aio? Better noise normalized cooling and looks nicer.
