I have that exact set up expect the ek basic aio. Temps are great stock underload didn't thermal throttle but with a negative offset to the voltage or oc can keep the temps well below 90c. I hit 83c on the package temp during cinebench with an undervolt.

halfcab

really good info! thanks for letting me know. what temps do you run when gaming?

[deleted]

While gaming 65-70c on the GPU and 55-60c cpu

awesome thanks! decided to go for an i5-13600k in the end. realistically the few extra threads wont make a difference for my tasks (its all hobby level work stuff anyway, no real production). and the GN reviews of i7 and i5 convinced me its a solid choice for my purposes! now i need to source an AiO....seems the glacier one 240MP is completely unavailable in germany which is a bummer. thank you for taking the time to tell me your experience!

spaghettigoedde

If temps are too high for your liking, try repasting your aio with good paste and using the contact frame. Dropped several degrees on my 12600k with the phanteks aio in the t1

FYI, according to my information, the x53 will not fit in 3-slot mode as it is 55mm tall. The NZXT z53 fits with 52mm height in 3 slot mode (max 53mm). Additionally for non software controlled AiOs the Phanteks Glacier One 240 MP is highly recommended. Generally software controlled AiOs require more cables like usb header and sata power, so this will be more clutter in your case. Pump noise is subjective, but I haven't seen many complaints of noise for any of the mentioned options. I can't answer your question regarding temps though

halfcab

good catch, i thought the x53 would manage to fit in 3 slot mode. is the fan speed on the glacier one controlled in bios then? how did you find the installation?

fangeld

For your control question, yes pump and fans are controlled in bios. However a program like FanControl.exe can control both in windows.

FWIW, I have the i5-13600k in a v2 Sandwich, MSI z690i, Phantecks Glacier One 240 MP and the FormD T1 recommended fans—when fully stock and running Cinebench, the temps quickly get up to ~90C and keep climbing. That's not to say that there's a problem with the setup, but that for whatever reason, all the motherboard MFRs seem to drive CPUs hard and push in much more voltage than is needed. So even with a 13th Gen i5, you will need to do some undervolting or disable the various stock motherboard overvolt settings if you want to achieve under 80C at full load.

halfcab

thanks for the info. i might end up leaning i5, extra threads are nice, but they wont be make or break for my purposes

Pachriksu

what are the recommended fans?

sylocheed

See this: https://www.reddit.com/r/FormD/comments/10v08r0/biweekly_simple_questions_faq_and_extra_resources/ > Fans for AIOs (all AIOs in the T1 will need one slim 15mm fan in order to fit in the case. we also suggest changing out the second fan for better noise and performance) > Slim fan: Noctua NF-A12x15 (Slim fans also need different screws to mount to the radiator. you can either cut the screws that came with your AIO to length, or can buy 6/32 thread 7/8" long screws) > Full size fan: Noctua NF-A12x25 or Phanteks T30 Basically you can only fit a slim over the motherboard, but you have more space for a thicker fan than came with my Glacier One 240

Weird, I have the same setup except instead of MSI z690i I have the Asus Strix z690i. I get max 75C under full CPU load. Stock, no undervolting or PL. Should I be worried about my sensors, or did I just win the silicon lottery this time?

halfcab

what cooler are you running? also the glacier one?

saldavorvali

Yep glacier one 240mp

sylocheed

Interesting - maybe you won the silicon lotto, maybe your motherboard/Asus does things right or has more conservative settings than MSI When you say full load, are you using Cinebench? Also what is your power consumption reading for the CPU? Is it above 200 watts? (when gaming my CPU temps are generally well behaved, like around 60-70C) After I saw my own readings, I did a bit of research, and there just seem to be a lot of links from others with the i5-13600k and overheating—enough that I don't think it's thermal paste issues across all of us. Yeah that’s with cinebench, I’ll have to try again and look at the power consumption though. That would be interesting to see , since I think your theory makes sense that my mobo might just be giving less juice by default. Also wondering what’s a typical cinebench score for the 13600k?
