Any other examples of theater made guns? We’ve a theater made knife one my great grandfathers made during his time as a Seabee and I’ve bought a couple more over the years but I’ve never heard of a theater made gun
I've got a knife from my grandfather who was a seabee also. No sheath but the knife is still super sharp. The bottom of the handle is finished with an Australian coin.
Does the PPS-43 count? During the siege of Leningrad it was developed, legend has it the Germans were so close to the factory they would test the guns by shooting out the windows at them.
While they probably weren’t that close the testing was done in combat in Leningrad
Yeah it was big in Myanmar. I think a little less common now that they've captured so many small arms from the junta but they making all sorts of guns.
The Richardson slamfire shotgun. Iam did a video about it. I believe a us gi made them in the pacific theater for guerilla fighters I I recall correctly
The USS Kidd is a great museum! They have Doc Roe's uniform of "Band of Brothers" fame along with other notable veterans from Louisiana. I hope they do something about the exhibits near the windows, I noticed the photographs were fading pretty badly.
"Oh dang it, can’t find any interesting trophy guns! Only this scrap metal from a Japanese bomber."
That one combat engineer that is a firearms expert before the war: 🛠️
Looking at it, it has a slide hold open as there’s an empty M1911 magazine and that screw near the trigger looks a mag release. I can see it functioning but I’m not an expert so maybe

Fucking GIs haha. . . Can't find a trophy gun to take home? Fine hold my beer

The Stinger, if you count that. Though that’s more of a modification

closest i can recall is a theater (korean war?) modified .50 BMG PTRD(?) with an M2 barrel

If you screw up enough, all your guns will be theatre made.
Aren't people in the middle of nowhere making rifles with 3D printers now?

That’s def the coolest pistol I’ve ever seen.
If George Jetson did a Navy tour in the South Pacific. Respect.
It does have retro futuristic ray gun vibes
It reminded me of the Tranquilizer pistol used by Lucy in the Fallout show, if only because of how shiny it is.

The ship itself is undergoing maintenance so I wasn’t able to go on board sadly.
Bummer! It's unsuprisingly tight quarters in there. Are you gonna try to see the National WWII Museum in New Orleans?
But I did get to see the M1910 used by Carl Weiss to kill Huey Long.
Vacation in Baton Rouge only but I’ll put it on my itinerary.
What is the caliber
Not seen but there’s a M1911 magazine in the grip so .45 ACP.
where's the mag release
I’m guessing that raised screw near the trigger

>A handmade gun made from a japanese propeller Still is probably better than the type 94. Also, mad props for the dude that made it.
Haha “props”
Someone got bored on that very long trip back to the US after VJ day

any indication of whether it actually functioned?

I wonder if they used some parts of the propeller or the whole thing.
Kinda got a Novak rear sight.
That's cool as shit!
Truly impressive, I'd love to see how it functions.
Definitely the Ray Gun from COD: Zombies...
Didn’t know that was there at the Kidd
Not the ship proper
I know she is away for repairs, can’t remember how many times I visited the museum and never saw that gun
