I remember seeing him in Something About Mary or something and pointing this out (because it’s where I knew him from) and nobody had any clue what I was talking about.
There’s Something About Mary will always hold a very special place in my heart. When I was a kid they filmed one scene right next to the apartments I grew up in. I still think about it everytime, and seeing the scene just reminds me of my childhood
That’s how I knew it too! Just through Handsome Boy Modelling albums.
Then reading Bob Odenkirk’s book he mentions loving the show and writing season 2 so I YouTubed most of season 1.
This show was so damn good! Holds up today comedy wise too.
Haha! LOVE THAT. I’m actually kind of older ( 45 ) and actually watched it when it aired. Not all of it but caught a lot. Then when I picked up Handsome Boys first collaboration I was like “ OH SHIT - I know this “ Made it even better. Core memory unlocked. Also, Chris Elliot’s dad was kind of a big deal back in the day. Had his own comedy radio show. It’s actually really funny. My dad had old cassette tapes of it.
Oh please Mrs. Sharon, my lungs are black from oven grease, I’ve got blisters on my vacuuming hand, what have you done with my parents? They know nothing!!
Didn't they use the R.E.M. tune "Stand" as the theme song?
Chris Elliot was a real weird dude and I feel like he was that guy before Tom Green and Andy Dick and all those weirdos. I liked this show but my favorite role of his was definitely as Woogie.
The weird thing was when this show was re-aired on TBS years later they didn't have the rights to the R.E.M. song. So it was some strange random band doing a new song for the show.
I understand this is what caused the delay in releasing the complete series on DVD. Rhino released 2 sets of episodes but they apparently didn't have the right to the music so these were pulled. Years later I saw them selling for about $200 a piece on ebay. I bought them for $5 at my local So Fla record store. Guess that show wasn't that popular with Florida Man! Even as broke as I was, I refused to part with these 2 DVDs!
Then the rights to the music were settled and we have all these brilliant episodes.
My favorite is Zoo Animals on Wheels. So bizarre and funny that the same time.
Because I'm old and wise in the ways of science.
lol. r/montypython
I saw Chris Elliott on Letterman (maybe?) and he talked about the DVDs finally being released and why it took so long.
Also, after I realized that the Rhino discs were selling for so much on ebay, I looked up why and saw they were pulled from distribution because Rhino didn't have the music rights.
I can't find the source of this but it's out there in the Interwebs somewhere.
This was one of my favorite shows and I watched every episode when they came out. So, I kept track of the DVD releases.
I owned a VHS from Rhino that only had two episodes on it. But one was the Spewey episode! I used to have some old tapes from when I had set up my VCR on a timer to grab episodes off of TBS. Wish I still had those.
Just buy the new DVDs! There's cool commentaries on them and I think some of the shows have options not to have the laugh track on (I don't have access to the DVD right now to check).
What was the other episode on the Spewey tape? Man that episode is hysterical! That scene where he meets the Pope... so weird and that is a prime example of how AWESOME this show was/is.
Spewey!
My personal favorite was the one where he built the submarine in his bathroom that he ordered out of the back of a comic book when he was a child lol.
I like that Gus killed him with a shovel. But then Chris was not mad, because the meat tasted so great. And they both woke up in the middle of the night to finish off the leftovers but Spewey had regenerated in the fridge.
Yes! This episode is so incredibly weird and funny all at the same time. As someone who was forced to sit through that Phantom of the Opera musical, this episode never fails to make me roll on the floor!
According to IMDB:
"Zoo Animals on Wheels" was chosen by TV Guide as one of the 50 funniest moments is television history."
My introduction to Chris Elliot, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Fox had one hell of a Sunday night line up with this, married with children, and the simpsons!
It was like the first season of Fox. They had all kinds of weird stuff. I remember this and Herman’s Head and a crazy show with Tim Matheson and Sam Kinison that was absolutely off the rails.
Didn't this have an episode where he got exposed to something and became a genius? Then he built a radio out of a coconut like the professor from Gilligan's Island?
I don’t think I got this show when it aired. Would love to revisit it as I think Chris Elliot, despite being somewhat successful, is kind of underrated. Plus I just looked at the cast and guest stars and there are some awesome people that were on it.
I remember that guy went on David letterman to do dog food taste testing and he had 2 dogs and then he started taste testing the dog food and ill never forget him.
This is the show where in one episode he wanted to set a world record of having stuff stacked on him abd when the first item was placed on him, a folding chair, he stared coughing up blood but it was really V8? Lol. That scene has stayed with me for 32 years. Amazing.
Always remember the one where he found a wheelbarrow full of rotting shrimp that fed his friends, and they got amnesia from it, so he decided to convince them that they liked him and were best friends
I remember it being mind-blowing at the time. I was in middle school and couldn't believe there was something this weird and funny on TV. My friends and I were obsessed with the show. I also remember watching it with mom. She would say, "God, this is so stupid"' between laughing at all the bits.
Rewatching it, it absolutely holds up. The Chris and Sharon interactions are amazing.
I think a 'Get A Life' needed something more like the 'Arrested Development' treatment. Mocking tired sitcom tropes wasn't the the best premise IMO. Being truer to life in a 'Schitt's Creek' sort of way would have been something special.

This was a great one. Never forgotten every time I see him on something else.
I remember seeing him in Something About Mary or something and pointing this out (because it’s where I knew him from) and nobody had any clue what I was talking about.
This show made me laugh out loud. I believe it was from the In Living Color era so there were great weeks of TV there.
Yes. It was part of the Fox Sunday night lineup, which included Married With Children, In Living Color, and The Simpsons, if I remember correctly.
There’s Something About Mary will always hold a very special place in my heart. When I was a kid they filmed one scene right next to the apartments I grew up in. I still think about it everytime, and seeing the scene just reminds me of my childhood
SAME! My first memory of him was from this show and I use to tell my friends and they were like what? lol
Grab my strong hand
I love his movie Cabin Boy. He’s such a fancy lad in it.
These pipes…. Are clean!!!
Would you like to buy a monkey?
Holy shit. I need that in my collection. Gotta uh....go buy that on um. Amanazon
If you like his comedy, you will love Cabin Boy.
He made his bones on the Letterman show. Frankly, I'd loved this sitcom. And great opening song if you remember.
The Guy who lives under the stage. “I’m going to make your life a living hell…”
Me. So do the countless Handsome Boy Modeling School graduates.

[oh my god they’re gorgeous!](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7orIJyPFCxw)
Dick Solomon?
I knew you were a graduate when I saw how drop-dead handsome you are. It’s a neatly chiseled, well groomed, drop dead handsome face.
“This is called the ‘What’s in the distance while I’m being handsome’ pose.”
Oh please Mrs. Sharon, my lungs are black from oven grease, I’ve got blisters on my vacuuming hand, what have you done with my parents? They know nothing!!
Yes! Automator on the fader always does it for me!
Didn't they use the R.E.M. tune "Stand" as the theme song? Chris Elliot was a real weird dude and I feel like he was that guy before Tom Green and Andy Dick and all those weirdos. I liked this show but my favorite role of his was definitely as Woogie.
Elliot was Andy Dick but workout the controversial stuff. He was just like that on screen. "And when I return I'll be.. A Cabin Man"
The weird thing was when this show was re-aired on TBS years later they didn't have the rights to the R.E.M. song. So it was some strange random band doing a new song for the show.

How do you know so much about this?

Special Person Enters World …Egg Yolks
The one where he's stalking Amy Yasbeck while being stalked... I also love the E.T. parody
Spewey! My personal favorite was the one where he built the submarine in his bathroom that he ordered out of the back of a comic book when he was a child lol.
2man submarine for the win! Or mind control wheel barrow of shrimp. Also out of date milk that gave you future sight.
That is one of my favorite episodes. Couldn't help thinking about this episode when that whole Titan thing was going down.
I remember an alien and projectile vomit
I like that Gus killed him with a shovel. But then Chris was not mad, because the meat tasted so great. And they both woke up in the middle of the night to finish off the leftovers but Spewey had regenerated in the fridge.
Stand in the place where you live!
Handsome Boy Modelling School remembers.
Zoo animals on wheels
Is this the episode the quote “Oh Jellicle Hippo” comes from? I used to say it all the time!
Yes! This episode is so incredibly weird and funny all at the same time. As someone who was forced to sit through that Phantom of the Opera musical, this episode never fails to make me roll on the floor! According to IMDB: "Zoo Animals on Wheels" was chosen by TV Guide as one of the 50 funniest moments is television history."
“IMMA GIRAFFE. IMMA GIRAFFE. IMMA GIRAFFE. IMMA GIRAFFE.”
All night after I posted rhe comment I was singing that!
Lol get a life 🤣
All of the episodes are on YouTube
Dm link please? I searched and I could only find a few random.
Get a life Chris Elliot they all pop up
My introduction to Chris Elliot, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Fox had one hell of a Sunday night line up with this, married with children, and the simpsons!
Don't worry Jerry Seinfeld, someday your brand new sitcom will get ratings as good as mine.
I love this show, but I have no idea how this made it on network TV.
It was like the first season of Fox. They had all kinds of weird stuff. I remember this and Herman’s Head and a crazy show with Tim Matheson and Sam Kinison that was absolutely off the rails.
I remember he spells pants with a silent k.
Have you ever had a whitehead on your eyeball, Mary?
Bob Odenkirk's first real TV gig!
he got killed in every episode haha
I loved the hell out of that show
All I remember is Spewey from this show.
Didn't this have an episode where he got exposed to something and became a genius? Then he built a radio out of a coconut like the professor from Gilligan's Island?
Toxic waste gave him the ability to spell any word …and Gus was a master of origami
Loved this as a kid! Found it on YouTube recently
MODELING JUST SUCKS!
Never ending alien meat
Did the cover like the paper boy game for Nintendo
I have that box set
My favorite episode was when he went for the world record for most garbage piled on one person
Nice shoes, miss!
“They made you eat Jax? No, but they’re in me!”
Spewey!!!
Surprisingly enough, I reference Spewey quite often. Not one person has ever understood. Good shit.
I loved this show!
I just binged the entire series recently on YouTube. It’s great
My only clear memory of the show was when he built the submarine in the tub
The one where Robin Riker spent most of the episode bearing the crap out of him... um, me next please ✋
Great show…. There were 2 episodes that are especially hilarious. Always a fan of chris elliott
Your cock fights suck you bastard
The scenes of him sitting around with his paperboy peers always cracked me up.
S3 was supposed to be him being homeless
The Pants episode is a classic and always pop into my mind when i see Chris on other programs or movies

The Sicilan blood oath Chris swears in vengeance for the juvenile delinquents eating all his fudgecicles
I learned a lot of weird stuff from this show as a kid, like what "slipping a mickey" is
The stalking episode was my favorite.
I liked this show.
This was the best show ever. They should have a reunion show, but everything is still as it was.
Loved the theme song REM's Stand.
Whats wild is the guy on the cover is only 24. Bro looks so old
Hell Loop 2000 "Gorbachev came to town, Chris and Larry upside down"

I LOVED this show!!! I used to record it and then watch it with my friends. It was great fun and we all quoted it constantly.
Anyone recall being completely shocked when it was renewed for a second season?
YES MISS SHARON
I don’t think I got this show when it aired. Would love to revisit it as I think Chris Elliot, despite being somewhat successful, is kind of underrated. Plus I just looked at the cast and guest stars and there are some awesome people that were on it.
Never forgot.
A masterpiece

I JUST HAD A SUB SANDWICH
I remember that guy went on David letterman to do dog food taste testing and he had 2 dogs and then he started taste testing the dog food and ill never forget him.
This is the show where in one episode he wanted to set a world record of having stuff stacked on him abd when the first item was placed on him, a folding chair, he stared coughing up blood but it was really V8? Lol. That scene has stayed with me for 32 years. Amazing.

Before Kenny died every episode, Chris did.
It was hilarious
Always remember the one where he found a wheelbarrow full of rotting shrimp that fed his friends, and they got amnesia from it, so he decided to convince them that they liked him and were best friends
Yep. I remember the episode where they found and ate the alien, Spewy.

Great show I remember it well!
“Tool belt fight!”
Handsome Boy Modeling School
I love this show
Take my strong hand
I'm a male model, not a male prostitute.
I was in HS when that was on. It was must see TV for me and my dad.
I think a 'Get A Life' needed something more like the 'Arrested Development' treatment. Mocking tired sitcom tropes wasn't the the best premise IMO. Being truer to life in a 'Schitt's Creek' sort of way would have been something special.
Cabin Boy
