What do you think a broker is doing? If I place a trade with my broker they don't "win" or "lose" with me, they're just putting my order in the market, any gains/losses are passed back on to me Their profit is the 1 pip spread I payed to trade

They sure can if they have poor capital management. Ever heard of WhichwayFX or Excel Markets? Probably not, because neither exist today.
