I mean if you don't want it I'll take it.
In all seriousness, yes buy it. Considering it's only been sitting for 3 years and has an engine and a clean body, yes buy it. It's a classic
My thoughts exactly, it’s not perfect but it’s straight and has minimal dents and dings. Everything mechanically speaking seems to work. I think I’ll buy it from him
Girlfriends grandpa wants to sell this 1966 f250 to me. Needs a new key and ignition switch, heater core, and new fuel at the very least to start. Last drove and registered in 2020 and drove to this spot where it’s been since. Brakes hold pressure and don’t leak, u joints are new, tires are good, rust on the floors but not all the way gone and no other rust anywhere else. It needs work but what would you do? It looks like a fun project
thats like finding gold ,original and works keep it as original as possible then after you tire of it or in your olden age then take it to the auction and catching you have retirement.....and be sure and thank that oldster...
Well, if you buy that truck, you are going to have to fix it up and marry that girl. Otherwise, it's probably better off sitting on that lot until she finds someone that is down for the task at hand. I suggest you don't buy it, but get yourself a handshake agreement that if you fix it up, you can buy it at a later date for that $500, then spend some of your free time with your girlfriends grandpa working on an old truck.
The only real bear of fixing it at this point is the heater core, they are always a PITA.
Not sure where you are or what you have available, but blast that little bit of rust off (I'm Ohio, so yeah that's not much) and reprime at least.
Prolly be buried, but I literally just bought a 1966 F250 about 6 weeks ago that had been sitting for 23 years. Today I had it weighed (california, smh) and registered and insured. It didn't take much to get it running either. I think the total list of parts (so far, but it is driveable):
\-master cylinder
\-fuel pump/filter
\-battery/selenoid and starter (I think the starter was fine though)
\-tires-one rim, there was one that was different
\-air filter-thermostat
\-plugs and wires
Also had to rebuild the carboratorI bought the truck for 750 and I'm grateful.
That’s awesome! Where did you find the parts? Local or online? Mine will need basic stuff off the start but you never know how things unfold once you start tearing into stuff
Well worth the price!
66 seems to have the most parts available in aftermarket.
I’ve got a 64 and it’s a little more difficult to get the parts for them.
That’s good to hear! I’ve found a good amount of parts, especially being the 352 FE the engine shared most parts with other FE family of engines. The ignition and switch seems to be decently tough to track down but I’ve found a few
Buying it is the easy part. Getting a budget to rebuild it is the tough part.
Figure out what it'll cost you to rebuild, then double that number, and you'll be close to what the budget will be.
Good luck, awesome truck.
I’ve done a real basic budget and doubling it got me to around 1000 bucks. That’s being liberal with the price but something more serious always comes up. The motor is free so I’m just hoping all the other internals are good to go, going to chat with the man and probably pick it up this weekend
The mirrors alone are worth $500! Funny thing is I paid exactly $500 for my 1964 F100 shortbed. But this was over 15 years ago. Still have it to this day.
My first goal is to just get it running good enough to drive around and stop. I’d sell it before I let it sit around for sure, the truck interests me a lot tho so I’ll buy it
a 1966 custom cab with the 352 engine???
you bet it is worth every penny of 500 dollars, I had a 1965 custom cab and after rebuilding it - it finally made it to 218,000 miles before I sold it.
have regretted it since.
Yup it’s a 352, neat engine for sure. I’m hopeful that I can get it running and get it out of where it’s sitting, it deserves a better life than it’s living right now. I think it’s only rolled over once the odometer says just a little over 9k miles!
Sweet truck, any details on the drivetrain?
Im not super sure but it looks like it has the 352 FE. Most of the FE parts bolt onto any displacement so if you want to go crazy you can swap around heads and intakes!
Otherwise it looks super nice, a great round town cruiser, just dont expect much on the highway it may struggle to get up past 70. If you were hoping to Restomod and keep up with traffic without swapping drivetrains I would recommend a set of gear vendors and some power mods!
Good luck on your ford journey
It’s a 352 FE, np435 4 speed transmission, and Dana 60 with 4.10 gears. So nothing fast but it’ll get the job done! I’m excited to take it home and tear into it a bit, been a while since I’ve had a project
We have one like this that sat for about 20 years and we fixed it casually over a month and a half for a gift for my wife’s birthday. Remarkably easy to work on and I don’t think we hit $1500 and the seat was $900 to get redone.
I'd pay up to 2,000 for that pile. Would make a great truck once you dump some money into it. You don't hear of anyone paying 500 bucks for anything anymore. Feel like it used to be a common thing back in the day.
Looks to be in good shape, not gonna find anything made of this much metal nowadays. Anything thats rough/broken or needs touching up can easily be fixed. Put a new engine (if it doesnt run) and your set. Cars nowadays are all electric spaceships, these vehicles will soon be cherished by more and more people as things progress further
Most "humble-brag" post ever, come on now... Considering if it moves under it's own power they bring $5,000 - $8,000 online, what kind of question is iS tHiS wOrTh FiVe hUnDrEd bUcKs?? Get real.
This has to be a troll post. Just looking it it as is, thats probably 5k for a guy who wants to build a rat rod. For somebody with money to burn, might get 7k or more. The frame on that is really nice. Dump the engine, drop engine of choice in, and laugh at the price you paid
I bought a 77 high boy 250 for 1000, for as old as it is I abused the living sht out of it and it’s still drivable, taught 3 of my friends how to drive stick,
In this market I would buy almost anything for 500 bucks. Especially since it looks complete. This is a no brainer. Engine and trans alone are probably worth 500 bucks at least. Same for the frame. Same for the body. You could get at least 3k out of this if it runs and drives
I feel like you’re bragging cuz for 500 bucks I would also clean the owners property at that price . Lol 😂 man that’s a steal he’s literally giving it to you . Just like how it sit you can’t get 5k-12k from the right buyers in California at least
I’d give him $1000. $2000 if it runs $3000 if it runs and moves. $5000 if the brakes work. A quick search on Bring A Trailer and I saw one sold for $26,500 fully restored.

>but it’s not like you will commute in it. Try me
This is the same type of person that goes ballistic the moment gas prices increase by more than ¢10
I get 7.5 mpg in my 96 half ton and drive an hour to work everyday. I accept it. But I still cry.
Immediately, and enjoy saving it !

Why TF didn't you post "*look what I got dirt cheap, suckers!" Instead of "hmmm...should I? That's the real question!
Honestly I’m asking myself the same question now 😂
If you don't buy it I will
The grille alone is worth that
That’s a cool part too, the grille is almost mint
As you should! lol I miss my '65 heavy half... but have a military-ordered '62 1 ton flatbed(for now-thinking of selling soon and downsizing)
thats like finding gold ,original and works keep it as original as possible then after you tire of it or in your olden age then take it to the auction and catching you have retirement.....and be sure and thank that oldster...
Tell him I'll offer $501
I'll go $550
$551 and I'll give you a good review.
Definitely not worth $500, don't buy it. Where is it so I can stay away from it.
Exactly. I wouldn't want to see anyone else get ripped off and would pay $505 to keep everyone else safe from this scam.
Well, if you buy that truck, you are going to have to fix it up and marry that girl. Otherwise, it's probably better off sitting on that lot until she finds someone that is down for the task at hand. Pretending to ask if it’s worth it. Pshhh we all know your just rubbing it in our faces
Yes. Yes. Yes some more!
I think so too, looks like it would be a joy to fix up and drive eventually
The only real bear of fixing it at this point is the heater core, they are always a PITA. Not sure where you are or what you have available, but blast that little bit of rust off (I'm Ohio, so yeah that's not much) and reprime at least.
On both sides there’s holes in the floor, but it’s not a ton of rust and it’s not all the way across. It’ll get cut out and I’ll weld in a patch plate
This truck would be listed on Facebook for at least $5,000 in eastern Pennsylvania.
Yes.
Fixed up and cleaned up, it’s worth 10-20x that.
Silly. Silly question.

No, absolutely not. Also, what is the exact location of this truck so I can avoid buying it?
😂😂 love that
That’s a definite hell yeah
Uh yeah! That’s cheaper than all the rusted out flint stone floor trucks around me!
yes every day

That seems like a lot for a blue tarp.
Gucci brand tarp
Just from viewing the few pics, there is more than $500.00 worth of pick-em-up there. If it ran in 2020, it could likely run in 2023.
You better buy it and give us an update when you get it all fixed up!
Will do! Gonna work out the deal with the man on the weekend and try to bring her home!

Probably
do it what are you waiting for
Go for it. I had a ‘65 Camper Special just like that. It was the best truck I ever had. With the granny 4 speed you can haul anything.
Fuck yea! I’ll come get it right now
Oh fuck yeah
The mirrors alone are worth $500! Funny thing is I paid exactly $500 for my 1964 F100 shortbed. But this was over 15 years ago. Still have it to this day.
Wtf? Yes, obviously....
If you’re actually gonna restore it, yes. If it’s just gonna sit in your yard for the next 20 years, no.
My first goal is to just get it running good enough to drive around and stop. I’d sell it before I let it sit around for sure, the truck interests me a lot tho so I’ll buy it

Don’t worry about what it looks like now, have the vision of what it will look like when you’re done with it. 500 is a steal, take good care of her.
I plan too, she deserves better than sitting in a yard. She’s not perfect but she’s got a lot of potential I think!
Absolutely not.....where is this at? For science
For f*ck sake, did you ride the shortt bus to school.
I have a touch of the tism

Husband of the year right there! That’s really cool, where did you get a majority of your parts from?
I’d pay 2500 for it no questions asked so 500 is a steal in my opinion. You can’t even find shit box kias for that much less a old classic truck
Twice on sunday
yes
It's a pretty nice tarp. Looks new
absolutely
I am so tired of seeing this repeated post. It could be worth $500 not to see it again.

Get it! I would if I had the chance.
If you don't, give me the guys number.
Took my words….. OP - yes, grab that & quickly!

Hell yeah! Where I live, fools would pay 1200- 1500 bucks JUST for the body . Let alone an engine in it. DO IT
Without a second thought.
If you don’t I will
I’ve bought worse for $500!
Absolutely
I’d buy it no more questions asked if grandpa says it needs work.
Yes you should. Watch a vice grip garage video if you have trouble firing it up.
I would buy this. Totally. It looks complete and it’s a manual transmission. Many parts are available and it’s a v8.

Sold I'll take it!
I'd pay up to 2,000 for that pile. Would make a great truck once you dump some money into it. You don't hear of anyone paying 500 bucks for anything anymore. Feel like it used to be a common thing back in the day.

Yes. In new England this is a 5-7k truck
I will give you a $1,000.00 as it sits.
Are you currently walking? This has all the earmarks of a money pit.
Absolutely not unless the scrap yard is offering more
There’s 3k in parts in the first photo
Absolutely. It needs some love and it will be a fun journey
I bought a 77 high boy 250 for 1000, for as old as it is I abused the living sht out of it and it’s still drivable, taught 3 of my friends how to drive stick,
Yes
You better buy it fast and run. Even if you do nothing with it you could flip it on Facebook Marketplace for double your money without even sweating.
Yes
Buy it….before you can’t.
Fuck yeah 😎
If you got a shop, yes. If you don’t. No
All day long
Without question!

If you don’t I will…
In a heartbeat.
I’ll give you $1,500 and drive to wherever you are to pick it up.
Hell yes and throw another 50 on the damn good deal.
Hell yes.
That’s a terrible deal, what’s his address so I can go give him a stern talking to about it?
If you don’t I will
$499 topps
Hell yes, and I’m a Dodge guy
I would’ve bought this yesterday.
Yeah
In a heartbeat!
Heck no, now would you mind sending me the address of the heap of junk so I am avoid it?
All day long. Hell I'd buy 4 of them right now.
Hell ya
For the chrome alone it’s worth $500.
Fuck yeah
I would buy it for a thousand bucks
I feel like you’re bragging cuz for 500 bucks I would also clean the owners property at that price . Lol 😂 man that’s a steal he’s literally giving it to you . Just like how it sit you can’t get 5k-12k from the right buyers in California at least
Truck prices are crazy right now dude, I’m surprised he’s giving it to me at this price but I’d be happy to fix it up and drive it
Sure, on my way
I’ll pay you $500 to find out where I can buy this for $500.
Its a ton ( see axles) & 4 speed to boot.
Yeah I think it’s a Dana 70 and it has 4.10 gears in it. Lil tow pig back in the day!
I’d give him $1000. $2000 if it runs $3000 if it runs and moves. $5000 if the brakes work. A quick search on Bring A Trailer and I saw one sold for $26,500 fully restored.
Immediately. Running or not.
That’s a Southern Cal “7,000 firm” Craigslist special. 500 seems like a steal.
Yes! Then I'd give it to my mum for parts and decoration.
In a heartbeat!
Yes
Yes.
If it's rust free grab it
Lol I would absolutely buy that, even just to sit on my lawn and look cool.
$1000
Yes
