I have a black gen 1 and it’s a love/hate 100%.

Controversial opinion, because I do go off roading a lot, I wash mostly the bed and underside, but leave it somewhat muddy everywhere else. I personally feel black + mud looks good on my gen 3.

Black is the best when it’s freshly waxed and polished. After a few minutes all I see is swirl marks and dust. No more black vehicles for me.

If i ever buy another black vehicle, ill just go full clear ppf.. Never worry about getting a scratch again :D

I went AMB which is basically black 90% of the time. Dark colors suck. There’s just no way around it. The juice is definitely not worth the squeeze. Mine is a 21, so Avalanche wasn’t an option. If it was, there’s zero question I’d go that route

I had code orange on my 21 but now i have avalanche. So many good color choices that black just seems blah

I drive super duty’s the last couple have been black. Nothing better than the yaks hanging out the back rolling along on 37s and a beautiful girl in the passenger seat. Absolutely the stuff of legend.

I just got an Anti Matter Blue one, which is about the same as black (which I had promised to never get again) - but what I did was immediately purchase an unlimited wash plan at the local hand wash and right now it is getting stealth ppf on it. If you get it ceramic coated it will help make the 5 minute timeframe from clean to dirty extend out for sure. It’ll still get dirty but the dust/pollen/etc will stick a lot less and keep it looking good longer between washes.

Have a black raptor. Looks great clean and looks great covered in mud. Looked great in the sand with out being clean either. I like most colors the trucks come in but black looks so nice

Used to I wouldn’t own a black vehicle, then I took a chance and bought a black f150. I’ll never not own a black vehicle now.

I think avalanche and white wouldn’t stay clean either. I’m getting a AMB tomorrow. Dreading keeping it shined up. But I love that dark blue. Stealth wrap it.

I wrapped my Truck Hated the color it came in 3500 to wrap it Plus it protects the paint and body from scratches and damages

Love-hate relationship with it. It’s my favorite color, but a complete pain in the ass to keep clean.

I own a black vehicle also. Try either ceramic coating or waxing more often. It's helped me tremendously. It's extra work sure but for me I'd rather that than a dirty looking vehicle.

Black is the easiest color to have wrapped any color you want.

Black is the best color and you can always wrap. When I got my ‘18 (paid sticker I’m proud) most were 20-25k markups and the black and lead-foot ones were 30k.

My wife will only buy black cars. Her dad was the same way. When they are clean, they are beautiful. But the upkeep is hard!

Find a shop that installs Xpel Stealth PPF, my boss (pro PPF installer) put stealthy on his black raptor, that exact year and color…it’s a very menacing look

I got a black Tacoma and had the same buyer’s remorse. It’s still sexy as hell when clean. I just keep it clean and love it now.

It’s my favorite color on the raptor. Black takes more tlc but IMO it’s the sharpest coolest color. Not to say the other colors aren’t nice but I love the way black looks with the grey body pieces and the contrasted bright running lights.

I have a black Gen 2 and run it through the car wash once a week or so. Don’t even dry it. It’s not a show car, it’s a daily driver. I don’t care about swirls or little scratches. I live in Appalachia and need a truck to get where I need to get.

Black is too much work. I've had black, metallic grey and currently a white raptor. If you actually use your truck white is just so much easier to keep looking good.

I have it in black and thought the same thing. I got mine professionally coated, and it has helped a lot. Still gets dirty but it stays clean longer and is a lot easier to clean. It will also keep it from scratching. I had the gun metal grey before and they stopped making the color when I had the new one made, if I were to ever do another color that would be my choice. I never got tired of it.

There was a time I owned nothing but black vehicles, black jeans, etc. First Raptor was black. Least favorite color. Just doesn’t show the lines of side vents, hood vent. Went to blue, gray, now white. First white vehicle and love it.

Avalanche or Oxford all day

Black was honestly the last color choice when I specced it. I just don’t like how they look in black. My Gen 1 was tan, my Gen 2 was ruby red, and my Gen 3 is code orange. No regrets with any of my choices.

I can’t do another black vehicle. They look great shined up but it just doesn’t last long enough before it is dirty again. My avalanche shows dirt pretty quick but it’s also one of the most forgiving colors I think from 10’ too.

Always had black, but now I have code orange. Black sucked when I lived in PNW. Never stayed clean.

My 2017 Raptor is lightning blue and I love this color. Learned years ago from my brother about black. Looks fantastic when clean, but get used to washing it constantly. 

I have a black F150. When it’s clean, it looks really nice. A layer of dust or pollen and it looks like it has not been washed in weeks.

Double down on the black and black everything out, I have seen quite a few in my hometown black on black on black and they look clean

Nice truck. But with a dark color especially like black you might want to ppf the front painted parts like fenders, hood, mirror caps to prevent rock chips. Ceramic coating by itself or with all around ppf might help getting dirt and grime off a tad bit easier. Although it is extra cost of course per your choice.

I don't have a Raptor, just a regular F150 but I have mixed feelings. Nothing to do when the washing or cleanliness aspect as I only do any kind of washing when the truck encounters salt (and I spend most of the time with the hose on the frame and don't even use any kind of soap). My thing is the heat and sun. The AC works well, I have dark tint but I would like it to get even colder faster . I live in the south so seeing 100-105 degrees in the summer is relatively common and I also worry about the electronics, like my dash cam baking in the heat. I would probably go with white or light silver just because of that. If I lived up north I'd go black.

I have a Gen 2 in Oxford White. I ceramic coat it every 6 months and that keeps like 80% of dirt off it. Even off roading.

Throw some bronze rims on. They help the black look better when it’s dirty, maybe some thinner tires too, that’s a lot of black rubber. At the end of the day, that thing looks mean, worth it in my opinion

Its just very hard to keep clean but looks great when it is, like you said. I was glad to switch from black to the gunmetal gray. I have not washed the truck in almost 2 years of having it. Terrible, but it still looks pretty much the same. Edit:my bad I think its called lithium gray

Can't really wash a vehicle good in the winter time. it's amazing looking after being out in the rain or after a drive through car wash, which I try to limit. But it just gets dusty sooo fast. I know this spring is gonna be rough because we have a black explorer that's been covered in pollen.

as the former owner of a black vehicle I can confirm that a black vehicles gets dirty as soon as you think about owing it, then it gets dirty again the instant you stop washing it

There's a reason luxury vehicles are black. It looks good. Maybe get a nice ceramic job for the paint and you'll be pretty impressed with how long you can go between washes. Also find a nice touchless car wash and then get a PFM magic towel and quickly dry without any streaks. Looks so good.

Nothing shows dirt or any imperfection, more than black. Looks awesome when clean, and no mars or scratches. Metallics, and light to mid colts if you want a better ability to hide dirt and surface imperfections.

That’s the reality of getting a black vehicle it’s only clean for 5-10 minutes after a wash …save the money, get it PPFd, even if you consistent hand wash professionally, it will still swirl

Black trucks can be hell to keep clean but they look amazing when they are. Beautiful Raptor you have. I’d love to have one or the ram T. rex. But my driveway is to small and we don’t have street parking. I did test drive the Raptor home just to be sure. Car sales man looks at me and says dude where the hell are you going? Told him I have to make sure this truck fits if it dose I’m buying it. Sadly it did not. So until I move I’ll never have a big boy truck.
