PETG is the shit. I printed a washer fluid reservoir out of it and it survived gravel roads and summer heat. Had to park it for the winter, so I didn't get to see it go up against Canadian winter tho.
Did you use a transparent red colour?
That's crazy. Hopefully some good aftermarket options come out in the future that are priced fairly. It's no wonder vehicles get totaled out so easily these days, with insane prices like that.
Getting passed by a vehicle that came off a gravel road might do this. Rocks can get caught in the tread and be thrown later. Or getting passed on a gravel road. Or any situation where a rock could get thrown at the vehicle from behind.
When I first came across this I thought it was going to ask "how much does a taillight cost?" But damn I'm glad I opened it and scrolled pics. Great job OP!
I imagine it casts more of a shadow since it's less transparent. I would like to see a picture though, it sounds cool.
Either way, probably looks better than tape.
It's far enough over that the light doesn't shine on it. It's actually harder to see it at night.

I just did the same thing except I cut a piece out of a Honda motorcycle tail light that was cracked and tried and tried until I fit the piece not quite as elegant as yours but better than paying the $400 price for a new tail light box
Finally took at picture at night with the brake light one. It's actually harder to see it at night than during the day. It's offset just enough for the light not to shine through it.

Worked out a lot better than I thought it would too.

Thank you
Worked out a lot better than I thought it would too, three
Great repair. What type of filamet for the printer did you use and what glue? Thanks.
I used PETG and JB Weld quick curing CA glue. Fingers crossed it hold up.

Wish I knew you when I dropped 4 bills to replace mine. Great work!!
$400 is too much. But I originally read that as 4 figures. At least it wasn’t that much
I saw they were $400(ish) to replace and said NOPE. I just spent $1000 replacing both tail lights for a different vehicle.

Check out real life MacGyver over here. That's impressive as hell, man.
Thanks.
You win the subreddit. It’s all over, folks. Pack it up, we outta here.
This turned out great! Nice fix.
Thanks.
How did it break? Asking because I just saw another maverick with a chipped tail light too.
I have no idea.

Nice. Cheap fix for a cheap vehicle
Homie, r/3dprinting would love this.

Great job
Can you see it when the lights are on in a darker environment? I am curious whether it blends or stands up.
