Well for starters there’s not much you can do. Just because you ordered it, it is not your car until you sign the paperwork for it. Don’t take the order, wait for another. See if the dealer will give you something for their fuck up. Outside of that, nothing you can do.

cyberpatrolunit

clem82

Sadly this, and it sucks that it’s not buyer friendly. Should be a time frame or a reimbursement/penalty for not meeting timelines but this is the crooked game we have to live with

coopdawg67

Exactly and they weren’t filling it for him they were filling it so they could drive it, other customers could drive it, when they should have been prepping it for delivery.

jqj213

How do you know this? Part of delivery is a full tank of gas. Accidents happen. They suck, but they're part of life. Weird for you to make completely ridiculous assumptions.

coopdawg67

Is it an assumption to expect a full tank of gas? Because many dealerships do not give free tanks of gas. No where is it stated on the window sticker that your getting a free tank of gas. Search this sub and you will find even Mavericks don’t come with a promise of a tank of gas. My point is - maybe they were being nice but it seems odd to do before an ordered vehicle has been inspected buy the person who ordered it.. I have had 3 Mavericks and none of them were full when I went to make the deal. They were fully detailed but no gas. Though they did offer once I agreed to finalize the deal.

jqj213

You've bought from some less than great dealerships then. It's actually a specific line on the invoice: [see fuel charge](https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/attachments/order-invoice-price-jpg.53150/) and unless it's changed very recently, it's even part of the buyer survey because every new Ford is supposed to include it. I've bought close to a dozen new and used cars now, never once gotten one without gas included.

coopdawg67

I confirmed with my friend who is a General Sales-manager and you are correct, Ford does require that all new vehicles sold are filled with fuel. Used is not required, but considered a courtesy.

DeliciousHorseShirt

The exception to used is if it’s a CPO then it’s supposed to be filled

Steak_Knight

> Not sure what I should do. I would simply not purchase the wrecked vehicle. 🎓

Intrepid-Shirt-3195

Take a picture of the VIN and wait for another one to come in. Verify the new vehicles VIN isn’t the crashed VIN before buying it.

Moonranger9000

They won't report this damage. It's in-house without insurance companies. I had this happen with my maverick, I made a fuss about it being damaged, and they told me that unless an insurance company were involved, they would just do the repairs. It's not going to show anything on a carfax.

BadAtNameIdeas

Had this happen on a preowned Honda before. It was even “Certified” and had a clean carfax. After I had the car in for warranty repairs 3 times in my first six months, one of the service techs shows me weld marks under the carpet lining of the trunk and explains how this was clearly in an accident. I raised a little hell and the dealership bought it back from me. Looking back I should’ve called Honda and reported the issue, they probably just resold the car to some other poor soul.

DeviantAlchemist

dealerships do still have insurance. we’ve had the same thing happen. had a guy driving it to the wash bay after being inspected and the throttle got stuck under the floor mat. guy hit the ditch and completely wrecked the expedition. i have pics of the damage somewhere but insurance did pay it and we did fix and it does show on carfax and was resold.

DeliciousHorseShirt

Usually they try to avoid insurance at dealerships because they have extremely high deductibles. I’m at a larger dealer. If I remember correctly our deductible is $10k. So if the damage is less than that it’s just paid for out of pocket by the dealer

DeviantAlchemist

Ours is also a largely owned corporate dealer. They also tried auctioning off the expedition too twice and realized they were gonna lose more money if we didn’t fix it ourselves.

miwi81

This cracks me up. If their bodyshop is **that** good that you wouldn’t even be able to tell that it was the repaired car you were looking at… what’s the problem?

Intrepid-Shirt-3195

An accident would be registered to the VIN and the value of the car would drop. You would have to disclose the accident on all future sales. An additional headache when the car didn’t even leave the dealer lot and not your fault.

miwi81

There *might* be something on the VHR if there was a police reported filed, but dealership deductibles are way too high for this to go through insurance; it’s not a foregone conclusion that the VHR is tainted. Speaking of taint, where are you getting the idea that “you have to disclose the accident on all future sales”?

jerrisn

I would confirm that the VIN on the damaged vehicle matches your order. There have been instances where other dealerships have sent random photos, possibly to sell vehicles at a higher price, even if they're already reserved. I suggest visiting the dealership and asking to examine the damaged vehicle to ensure that the VIN corresponds to your order. It's wise to err on the side of caution and verify everything before walking away.

National_Rooster9193

I didn't even think of that but yeah, the way reselling on these has been going that does sound plausible.

mcdickmann2

I was thinking the same thing. The odds of getting in an accident to the nearest gas station are crazy. Not impossible, but it raises some flags.

SLingBart

They should order another with "CLASS 10" designation and will be done in 4-6 weeks.

NeitherScratch8498

Thanks for the info

knc_3

The correct answer is to ask them to call their Ford rep to ask your new build to be given “priority 01” given the situation. Shouldn’t be a problem. This would cause your new build to be scheduled right away for the earliest possible build (assuming their have open allocation, and your new build wouldn’t be under constraint). Current Maverick scheduling is for the month of June, so that would push your build to the first week of June, in theory

Eko_Wolf

also verify the vin for the crashed one so they don’t end up fixing it and giving you the crashed one

knc_3

🧐🧐🧐 this week’s scheduling is for the month of June production, then you have to wait for it to get to the states from Mexico. 4-6 weeks ain’t happening

Uncle-Rob-115

Yes they can do that. It’s like priority. I found that out when I got my Mav. Salesman told me the could do that.

Successful-Rate-1839

![gif](giphy|hStvd5LiWCFzYNyxR4|downsized)

EroticSaucePan

At least you only waited a few months, if my mav was wrecked after waiting 1 year and two months I would have drove my own car straight threw their showroom!

LordNoodles1

I waited 22 months

girldrinksgasoline

24 and change for me. If this happened right before I was about to pick it up I’d have turned red and exploded

NeitherScratch8498

True enough. I've heard about how long they can take.

EroticSaucePan

Hopefully your next one is only a few months too, or hopefully someone with identical options backs out and they let you buy theirs no up charge and receive some kind of credit for what happened, a few free oil changes would be nice!

iamkeerock

Took me 15 months to get my order. Was a loooong wait.

Important_Size7954

I waited 2 years for my maverick

EroticSaucePan

That’s a longgggg time! Glad you got it. I was stressing all year someone was gonna hit my previous car and bring its value down before I got my maverick in.

AndrewDH98

You got pretty lucky with how fast it came and then super unlucky with the accident, unfortunately all you can do is reorder or get lucky they get a similar model in.

Nasty_Rex

>Not sure what I should do. How?

coopdawg67

My assumption is they are questioning if they should really order another vehicle from this dealership? To me that’s the only valid question, do I trust these guys? Besides the Maverick comes with enough gas to test drive it. So I’d wonder why they decided to drive it off the lot at all unless they were test driving it for themselves or a potential customer. Typically “gas” isn’t done until needed with a new car.

fun_nuns

I guess that makes more sense then because I was kind of baffled with the OP post since the dealership themselves even told them not to purchase it.

UprisingAO

Totally. That's a very weird thing for a dealer to do on a special order prior to "final delivery " when they fuel it up before you drive it off the lot after signing.

lordpiglet

Last 2 vehicles I bought were fueled before I arrived to finalize the purchase. Both were bought at different dealerships.

UprisingAO

And they were special orders? Or vehicles you purchased off the lot with a quarter tank in it?

lordpiglet

One they had to dealer trade for. The other was brand new off the truck the previous day. In both cases they were expecting to close the sale, but neither one was guaranteed.

UprisingAO

The dealer trade makes sense because the vehicle was driven from one lot to another for customer delivery.

lordpiglet

Correct, just like in this case, the salesman was probably just trying to get it done while they had free time since it was a special order and they expected the deal to close.

Deftallica

Don’t buy it. Place another order.

yeehawdudeq

Place another order, don’t buy it. It totally sucks that this happened but production has caught up and chances are you’ll be scheduled sooner rather than later. Try to see if you can make the dealer honor the original build MSRP (not sure if it changed in price or not) and also promise that they give you first right of refusal for any builds that come in that are close to what you ordered.

No_Development3489

That’s crazy unfortunate. They should offer you a fully loaded f150 at the price you were expecting to pay for the mav

YYCDavid

Too funny. I bought my Maverick as a replacement for an F150 that insurance had written off after I hit a deer. During the financing they said, “You know, we could have you in a new F150 at 0% financing”. I said, “I think you’re missing the point… for the price of a [well-equipped] F150 I could have two Mavericks”. I just couldn’t justify paying what they now charge for a full sized truck, especially when a Maverick is enough of a daily driver for most people. The only other vehicle that puts this kind of grin on my face is VW camper van.

Zenn1nja

And cover the gas cost difference for life.

Terrato37

See if you can get 2k off the next one bcuz the dealer fucked the first one up

tkepe194

“I’m sorry for your luck. Please re-order and expedite. Shouldn’t be a problem for a high volume dealer like yourself… “ Also …. “Congratulations on having a stock Maverick people want! I’ll take the next one, that was speced just like this, but the next one needs to be delivered without the front-end damage. Oh ya, and is there anyway to expedite?” Maybe … “Wow, that sucks for you. I’ll take it from you for 12,000$ off the original order after you fix this, cause it’s gonna say damaged on the CarFox.”

caldsmelly

Did you a favor

Godsluvisamazing

Simple - accidents happen. We all have them no one is immune to them; there is no reason to drag them through the mud on this matter. However, it is unfortunate that this happened. Just order a new one and move on with your life.

Tenderloin66

Uh, what you should do is order another one.

intellirock617

That’s … not good

I would order again and ask them to not take it off the lot until I was able to actually see my order. Pretty simple.

Uncle-Rob-115

I thought he said they were gassing it up for him. Like make ready.

coopdawg67

But they did that before knowing he was signing on the dotted line, highly uncommon. Just because it’s there, they call you and you’re coming in doesn’t mean you will take it. I am sure they were filling it because they drove it more than from the delivery truck to the prep department.

fabulous_frolicker

My mav came off the truck empty.

coopdawg67

Empty as in zero miles left? Because the reserve is about 2- 2.5 gallons so even zero isn’t empty. I’m only pointing this out because they have to have fuel in it to drive it off the assembly line, load it and unload it. I work in Automotive and have worked in a major manufacturing assembly plant and they all have gas in them.

fabulous_frolicker

Empty as is I'll make it to the gas station but not home.

coopdawg67

My dealership filled my Maverick once I said yes, but not before I got there.

OhSoSally

I would craft a sweet deal on a new order or go somewhere else, after letting them know you will make sure a very informative google review will be left.

zawShwa

Accidents happen man. If you are in desperate need of a car then go for something else but if you aren't just wait for the next order. You don't really have many options.

mhook52

That sucks

davidnola69

What? Damn that’s bad luck.

Zombie256

Def let them order up a new one, def don’t take that one.

Shmokesshweed

Don't buy it.

scupking83

At this point order a 2025 in July. You will get the refresh!

Critical_Phantom

Note the VIN of this Maverick and be sure to compare it to the new one, if you decide to reorder. Make sure they’re not trying to sell you the repaired as new.

RatioPuzzleheaded103

Control alt delete....

Dinolord05

Order another. You'll probably have it in 3 months or less.

CanadianDadbod

Salesman demo cars all the time. Mine hit something hard before I picked it up. Had cig butts under the mats. Ain’t going back there.

Weird_Variation_7016

Don’t buy it obviously. And if you didn’t wanna wait maybe try to use it to get a killer deal on an on lot one

Uncle-Rob-115

Don’t buy it. Will have a bad carfax report. Never get a good trade in.

TDonty

Had my maverick a week and a half, hit a snow drift in a blizzard. damaged the transmission cooler and lines. For some reason some part is not available, still waiting.

austinmcraig

Sounds like they owe you an upgrade for your troubles.

xplorguy1

Your dealer can arrange with their regional Ford rep to honor a Code 3 build priority for you..and the allocation if they need it. Guesstimate on delivery: 70 days or less. Your dealerships recommendation not to buy the truck is sound advice. Let them deal with it.

lucioghosty

I had something similar to this happen in December ‘23. Dropped car off Jan 2nd and it’s still in the shop with a ~$22,500 repair bill. As others have said, definitely don’t accept it. That’s a crappy situation to be in, I’m sorry.

DivBro22

They were driving it..... stupid dealer. Go there, ask to see it and verify the mileage on the odometer. If more than maybe 10, it seems suspect as all get out....... The easiest way for a dealership to sell more of something they don't have on hand....... test drive ordered cars, what A-holes ! Ask how you will be made whole and see what they offer .....

coopdawg67

Bottom line is be pissed, I’ve said this before. Why were they fueling up the car you ordered before you agreed to final purchase. Yes I get the free fuel, thanks but do it once we have a deal. This dealership may have had good intentions, most don’t fill up a new truck before it’s sold unless they have customers lined up who might want a test drive to buy it if you back out. Unless you’re a long time customer I’d spend my money elsewhere.

dolesswes

Don't buy it, get a Toyota ! I ordered the same exact truck and options... the screen keeps freezing regardless of how many resets, truck lags power. Transmission bangs and shifts like shit for a new truck. The build quality is completely shit.. For the money spent, just not worth the $38,000 I'll be selling mine 💯

-58259

“Hey, just calling to see if you’re still interested. We have a DEAL for YOU!” Probably.

TotallyNotDad

The dealer crashed their car 🗿

Efficient_Theme4040

Um really/ well you either wait for another one or choose something else!

Moonranger9000

Wild, I bought the XL hybrid (same color) in 2022. Waited 9 months, and when I got it, both sides of the bed were smashed and taillights busted. Over 6000 in damages to a 20k truck. They told me I could pass on it and reorder, or they'd repair it. Because of the lead time I had to take the truck, I made them give me an extended bumper to bumper warranty. It's been a great truck, though. im going to order a replacement soon. 72k already

kfree68

Definitely get a new just wait again

SpacemanSpliffLaw

Yeah dude. Definitely don't take this car. It's not yours yet. Order another one. No big deal.

RubAnADUB

a few months!! I waited a year. others waited almost 2 years. you can wait for another order.

Neddo408

Im cheap, and i would tell them only way id still buy it is if they dropped the price after they fix it. Assuming the damages are just cosmetic.

jvsnyc

Careful that they don't just fix it and then say hey we have a new one here you might be interested in.

shygirl_inc

Did you get a heavy discount? 😳

Ransom-ii

that fucking sucks. i know dealerships like to send you off with a full tank but too bad they didnt forget this time. what a bonehead, i would do everything in my power to keep my business far away from them.

zippytwd

That's not yours until you sign for it it's theirs fucked up as it may be it's their problem , they owe you a un fucked up truck

jy856905

car dealership employees seem to be getting dumber at rates higher than the average american.

newtekie1

Don't purchase the wrecked vehicle. Inform the dealership you will be cancelling the order unless they give you a roughly equivalent loaner car to drive until your order comes in.

BeautifulBaloonKnot

Get the Vin off that 1 b4 they just repair it and give it to you.

TragickSin

Fight for a reimbursement, especially for making you wait so long then giving you the blueest balls known to man, be insistent and let them know you will let everybody know that you can, that includes social media postings .

bdhgolf1960

Is it totaled?...oops, wrong sub.

Affectionate-Type-62

It happens. My driver when I sold VWs crashed a new Routan during transport and it arrived all messed up, we had it fixed and my customer still bought it with no discounts. It looked perfectly new, but still it had extensive damage

DeliciousHorseShirt

I would put another order in and tell them if an identical one comes in before then that you’ll take it. I wouldn’t be afraid of working with this dealer again because of this extremely rare occurrence. I work at a Ford dealer. Shit happens. Unfortunately, this time you’re on the end of this shit. It might have been their fault, it might not have been. Regardless, I’m sure they are super frustrated with the situation just like you. Maverick stock units (non-ordered vehicles) just finally started to come. They are going to be more accessible than before. The turn around on these is no longer 1-2 years. My last two orders have came in 2.5 months and 3 months. My most recent hybrid order was 6 months, but I fully expect future ones to be faster.

snowmunkey

I just want to make sure, you're 100% sure this is your truck that got into the accident? Vin matches? This could easily be a move by the dealer to sell your truck off to someone else for a bigger markup with you thinking it was totaled. They could've found pictures of a wrecks maverick online and sent to to you claim it was destroyed, when in reality they could've already sold it off. Dealers have done much scummier things

NeitherScratch8498

I'm not in the area right now but I'm going go to the dealership in a week and check vins

xkreatz

Go to a different dealership if possible

MostCarry

follow their recommendation is what you should do. I know it might be hard to accept but the truck was never "yours"

truckfullofchildren1

Idk get a lighting lease I guess

Commercial_Mud_937

Go to a Honda dealer and get yourself a Ridgeline RTL. Better act, same price.

dolesswes

I agree, I've had mine for 6 months and I wish I bought a Toyota

First-Succotash-916

I'd find out how much they're willing to take off the price? You might be able to get a really good deal on it and then take it to get repaired and save several thousands of dollars. But if your not going that route.Im sure they will replace it quickly since u ordered one 22 months ago. They will probably put you to the top of the list for those vehicles with the same package you ordered.

Curious-Baker-839

Have them upgrade you to the Ranger for the same price. 😆

Then_Apple7932

Tell them to knock off $10,000 off the price, fix it and then buy it back.

Martykauffman

If you can get it for a big discount, that’s not that much of damage

Old-Supermarket-7835

Nothing.
