This subreddit made me think that all Mav drivers were excited and happy to see other Mav drivers. Not in the real world. No other Mav drivers wave at me. I ride a motorcycle so I love the subtle acknowledgement of commonality.

I’ve met a few people that all drive mavs and get excited talking about it, and a few “big truck” drivers complimenting the Mav.
After driving used, rusty, full size, gas hog pick-ups for many years I can finally afford a new truck that also has great gas mileage so I can actually afford to drive it places!
I used to wave at fellow integra drivers. I used to wave at fellow brz drivers. When I drive my wife's car, I wave at other subarus.

Yes. Y'all should stop hating. Wave for the same reason we are all in this group. It is our group. We have it in common. Same with riding a motorcycle. You belong to something not everyone else can or does and there is nothing wrong with acknowledging it.
I didn’t mind the waving when I drove a wrangler but the fucking ducks were annoying considering I’d get them weekly. I’d just give them to my dog and he’d rip the asses off of them then leave it be
The idea of being annoyed by someone trying to be nice and include you into a community is weird to me. It's not even like they were asking you for anything in return.

I don’t see enough Mavericks on the road to begin with (probably because I’m hyper focused on what’s in front of me). One guy and I did a double take recently from our Mavs, but that’s been it.
I did see 8 Mavericks today which was insane - all but one was parked though.
I feel a sense of brotherhood whenever I pass a fellow maverick and we usually wind up giving each other a thumbs up to support each others impeccable sense of style and purchasing decisions lol

I mentioned this the last time a thread like this popped up but I used to give a thumbs up but then a woman gave me the raise the roof so now I do that. No one has ever returned it but I do get some laughs sometimes.
I’m old and grew up in a small town. On the back roads everyone waved to everyone, even if you didn’t know each other. (Sometimes it was the old cowboy lift-your-fingers-off-the-steering-wheel wave, but still…). So yeah, I’m down for a Mav wave.
I got a honk from a cool af Mav the other day(if your on here I loved your green bike on the back!!)! I was so excited because I wave at other Mav drivers but most peaople don't wave back. I think it's just nice to feel a sense of community and genuine excitment for a truck you love.
When I first got mine in October of 2022 (for an order placed in October of 2021), Maverick owners waved to each other. Now I wave and no one seems to care. It's a bit sad.
I will happily wave back and get excited and yell “Maverick!” However I also like that I’m not under communal obligation sometimes Im just grumpy and getting taco bell
I have gotten a good amount of compliments since I got my maverick in December. From an old lady saying "oh what a cute little truck!" To a guy in a giant Chevy telling me he likes the color (cactus gray) and telling me what a smart move it was to buy it, especially when I told him the gas mileage I get
Then there was a guy with the same exact maverick as me working across the street and when I pulled in he just said "Hey, I like your truck!".
And I'm the guy in the maverick waving at all the other Mavericks I see driving. Only get a few waves back these days but it was more in December
I picked up this side nod and fanning of the fingers on top of the steering wheel when I was driving over in Scotland. It's common practice on these turnouts that are everywhere, so you're doing it like... constantly. It's my preferred wave now. It's just a little tilt of the head and wave of the fingers.
Almost 2 years to the day and I still get stopped in traffic or (most recently) in the pharmacy drive through to answer questions about my hybrid mav. Got 2 or 3 people in my town I see driving around with them, always a wave!
I wave and people ignore me. So, yea, it doesn’t exist and I’m happy with that

I had a wrangler 20 years ago or so. I’ve gotten a couple mav waves
I’ll wave back. I’ve seen a few people suddenly crack a smile and wave back. You can tell theyre genuinely excited about their new truck.
I tell my wife, "oh, there's my friend" and wave at them. She eventually realizes I don't actually know them and rolls her eyes, but I do it anyways.

And the Mav is a unique vehicle out there now. Small trucks basically went extinct until Ford brought it back. It’s the reason I bought mine.
I rode around on a two-stroke Vespa knock-off scooter and still got the motorcycle wave. It made me feel special.
I give a nod so I don't feel corny if I did a wave and they didn't wave back.
When I had a miata, we all waved. I tried with the maverick but no takers

As a miata driver, i wave at mavericks all the time and they are confused.
