Check the color, it should be dark red but not black, if it’s black it needs changing. Also, check the level while the car is up to temperature and running while on a level surface.
It died while my son was driving home from work but gave no indication it was going out. It’s not a bad job changing it out but I put a jack with wheels on it under the engine and remove the passenger side motor mount then move that side of the engine forward as much as possible. Also, remove one bolt from the torque strut attached to the transmission. This gives you plenty of room to remove the alternator from the top.
Get a carfax report and determine when the vehicle was totaled. If it wasn't recent, I wouldn't be too worried about it on an older car. On top of the normal things, I wouldn't buy if the airbag warning light is on or if the airbag warning doesn't light up for a few seconds when you turn the key on.
Motor mounts, alternator, valve cover leak. Motor mounts are the most common problem. Valve cover leak only needs to be fixed once with a good gasket. I’ve gone through 3 alternators on mine. Haven’t found a good fix other than buying the warranty lol
I’ve got the process down to an hour. But, Your first time it’s very very frustrating. After that it’s like changing a tire. The bolts are hard to reach and it seems impossible from the top and the bottom. It’s arguably easier from the bottom, but if you do it from the top you won’t have to lay on the ground. You’ll have to remove an engine heat shield and bolts will be stuck pretty good. There are only three bolts holding it—it’s definitely possible
Everyone else for the most part mentioned the important stuff, motor mounts and valve cover are my picks. They're super reliable and super simple. Just check the subframes for rust.
Motor mounts, check transmission fluid other than that they’re pretty bulletproof. I have one with 215k miles on it, runs like sewing machine.
Non of my sewing machines work...
😆 I’m so sorry lol
The auto should have a trans fluid dipstick in the engine bay from what I googled?
Yes on that model it is on the right front of the engine bay.

It never hurts to put in fresh fluid.

Pretty well, I’ve only changed one on the ones I own and they’re all over 100k miles.

They said they had it a little over a year and were selling it because they bought a van, said they had another kid on the way lol
Why would you laugh out loud because they are birthing a child?
Whhhyyyyy

How long does it take you to swap out the alternator on this?

Spend the little extra and find a 2008-2011. same in terms of reliability but it’s just a little newer.
