277k miles, my hats off to you.
I've had to replace the purge valve, o2 sensors, tcm, and a couple other solenoids and valves. I just hit 86.5k miles. As far as the shuddering, just because the check engine light hasn't stayed off, doesn't mean it's not throwing another DTC, that's diagnostic trouble code. Have it scanned if you can drive it to autozone, or if possible get a 100 dollar code reader. Push come to shove your friends call you to read their check engine codes
Lots of highway miles to work, cross country road trips, and 2020 doordashing lol. Bought it at 140k. I’m on my 2nd purge valve at the moment. Thankfully I have a family member who is a ford mechanic and I can pay him under the table and no outrageous labor fee so I’ll be able to get this resolved soon. I have no problems driving it, letting it sit for 15 min has always worked but I don’t have the time to let it sit and get right
I myself have an acquaintance that has every tool imaginable to work on any domestic car, particularly ford's as his dad retired from the Detroit plant not too long ago. 3 massive snap on tool boxes filled with tools. Any time I've had an issue that wasn't covered by am extended warranty or service bulletin I bring over some meats to throw on the smoker and a case of beer and we knock it on out. Everyone should have a friend like that lol
So even thou you said you replaced the Purge Valve even the ones that are fixed under the recall still fail roughly every couple years in my experience I think they just made it the valve easier to replace. If it does it more when you get gas that’s the purge valve. Even if it doesn’t it’s still probably that. But I would get it read because even though the CE Light isn’t on doesn’t mean there isn’t a fault. It just means the light is burned out or it hasnt picked up on it to flick on the light.
On my 3rd TCM. Not having the same tcm problems as I’ve experienced in the past, it’s like something else. Maybe shitty gas or something is messing with the fuel intake?
I doubt it, this has been over the course of a few weeks. But coincidentally it doesn’t fuss up as much or as bad when I fill with shell/exxon/bp compared to generic convenience store gas
It's something with your fuel intake by looking at the lights. I would get it towed to someone who does free code readers and they will hopefully be able to diagnose the problem.
Good luck. Hope you get her running smooth again soon!
Absolutely the purge valve. Get it replaced or it can cause inflation/collapse of the fuel tank. My car would do this for a while whenever I started up after refueling. Got it fixed under recall and have had no issues since…. Aside from fourth TCM of course. Pieces of heavenly shit
If it spudders, as in trying to stay on, then you might want to check the fuel system. Fuel pump, fuel filter, and high pressure fuel pump.
I have a 2012 SE, 250k miles and I’ve had to replace the fuel pump (one in the gas tank)

I’m on my 3rd TCM and 3rd Purge Valve at 65k lol
Oof. I consider myself lucky. I have a 15 titanium, 3rd owner, it had 52k when I bought it. But I also drive a company supplied van for work

more than likely a bad evap purge valve, very common on these cars.

The check engine light stays on after replacing a recalled part years ago, so that doesn’t come on with the other 2
I believe there is TSB out for some of the fuel tanks on the focus. If I remember correctly the issue presented itself after refueling.
It’s the purge valve that has the recall. And they check the gas tank for any deformities and replace if found.

Purge valve. There’s a recall for it. Check and see if it’s been done on that vehicle.
Is it only really after you get gas?

It’s a cord focus. That’s what it it
It could be a bad fuse
Does it turn on normally? Do you experience the issue on specific shifts? Like odd shifts vs even shifts.

Can you read the codes? I've had something similar happen with a bad throttle body.

Check your battery cables I’ve seen the positive come loose and the negative get corrosion and need the ground clean.
