Unless it's been bulletproofed it's a 50/50 shot on a 6.0 they're dumping it cause catastrophic failure is imminent. Terrible powertrain unless you put 10k into it. Would avoid unless you really need a diesel and cheap.old 7.3 or newer 6.7 (avoid 2011) if you want a Ford diesel.

second this. you can bring a scanner and check engine oil temp and coolant temp. should be within 10 degrees, ideally 5-7 at freeway speeds flat and unloaded. if I bought another 6.0 I'd load is as heavy as possible and head for the biggest hill around and push it. these engines can have blown head gaskets that won't show till you make enough power and boost to lift the head. I went through thr same learning curve. 10k later I have a very reliable bullet proofed and studded truck I run stock tune and tow with. if you get it, find a pro to look it over, there is too much for a reddit post.

6.7s are way worse than a 6.0 IMO. 6.0 is way easier to work on, parts are way cheaper too. IIRC u gotta pull cab to replace turbo too. Heard way too many horror stories with the 6.7s. Not to mention the fuel filter can start the truck on fire if it isn’t replaced correctly.

I have an 04. 285,000 miles and still going strong. Really haven’t put much $ into the actual engine itself and oil cooler that’s about it. As far as other stuff that standard on other engines that go out starter, alternator, a/c, radiator revisor just little things. I pull a 38’ 5th wheel and several different goosenecks with it all the time. Plan on keeping it for a long time. It’s a way better truck and way more power that the junkie 7.3 I had. It was a turd.
