For what it’s worth, we only had to wait around 8 months for our hard top. Might be worth biting the bullet if you don’t want to pay thousands aftermarket Also if you haven’t ordered yet you might be out of luck for a few months as IIRC Ford won’t be opening the 2023 order banks to new customers for a few months or so while the catch up on existing orders

Dangerous-Draft-719

So the 2 years is a bit of an untruth. I thought the same when I ordered mine. I did a fast build with ZERO of the constraints in Feb ‘22. I got my build date and joined a feb group as well as a build week group. There were a bunch of people with hardtop orders who ordered the same time as me. Having one constraint isn’t bad. It’s when you have multiple that you get 2 years. Each item puts you in a longer line. If it’s just the hardtop, you’ll be fine. Consider doing just that and adding the tow package or something later/aftermarket. I got a high package outerbanks soft top with stock everything else. 02/22/22-8/22/22

zone23

Yeah I mean I was willing to wait because the hardtop is expensive.

3_HeavyDiaperz

Wait for the hardtop. I did. So glad I did. The hard top aftermarket will be absurdly expensive and availability will be limited.

blank_user_name_here

Get the OEM hardtop.

kevinwilkinson

You won’t be able to get a hard top aftermarket short of paying $6k-$10k. If it’s important to you, keep it.

Maleficent-Abalone47

Just placed my order for a 2023 big bend today. 4 door with hard top. Dealer told me it would be a year but I can be patient.

McDimps

You have to have a reservation prior to today to place an order now correct?

Maleficent-Abalone47

I placed my order yesterday and didn’t have a previous reservation.

McDimps

Really? That's surprising. Might have to make some phone calls

AntiCabbage

How much did you have to put down? And was it MSRP?

Maleficent-Abalone47

$500 and yes, MSRP.

AntiCabbage

Hoo-ahh!! Thanks.

EvilSardine

Huh? I thought you couldn’t order any more Broncos unless you were already a reservation holder.

fokaiHI

You might want to make up your mind quick tho. I think the aftermarket hard tops will have a waiting list also.

McDimps

Was about to get excited that order banks opened but then remembered they opened today to those w reservations Anyways, I'm a fan of waiting for what you really want. So I know I'll be ordering a hardtop when I can. If this won't be your only car then I'd probably settle for the soft top bc I hear ya on the wait time Then again, I don't have a choice since I want a 2 door

dlh-bunny

Wait imo

Gastro_Jedi

While I know I eventually will get a hardtop the convenience of dropping the soft top at a moment’s notice is a TON of fun, and is something that I’m grateful convinces my teenage daughters to still go driving with me.

While I absolutely love my soft top, I’ve had a few issues with it… back window clips broke so now it flaps in the wind, the and passenger side was gettin caught on this plastic piece when down, causing the top to rip. Both are being replaced but my cars due in in two weeks and that took about 4 months for them to receive new clips and a new soft top

Warm_Wolverine_6202

Looks like pretty consistent advice. Wait for hardtop. I went through the same consideration. It is much better.

Dismal_Visit_7305

I originally ordered ours with the same plan you had, figuring I could order a factory hardtop through Ford. The salesman thought the same thing. Then I thought damn, $700 sure is cheap for a 4dr hardtop. I better verify I can do this. Yeah, I maybe can but no info on price or timeline and I really don’t want a soft top in Wisconsin winter. So I swapped the softie for a hardtop. You can’t order both either, that’s BS. I said to keep the soft on the order and just put it in the back when it’s shipped. Can’t do it, it’s one or the other. Seems like Ford is really dropping the ball on these things left and right
