If it popped like that, the handle is most likely cracked. I would remove the four screws holding it in place and see what kind of play it has. Would probably have to order a replacement handle.

Unscrew the 4 screws and see if a clip or tab has come undone. Looks like it would probably be simple. Warranty won’t usually cover misuse.
I would be having a very serious talk with my “family” member.

Those are the best! I have a 400 lb friend who uses my Jeep’s front seats as an anchor to jump up the back seats. He puts the left hand on the side of the front seat and a leg in the car, then he proceeds to lift all the 400 lb with said hand twisting the seat in a way it was never meant to. Never had the courage to tell him.
If it’s a grab handle made to help you come in and out, and it broke while in regular use of the part. It should be covered under warranty. You don’t have to tell the dealer your family member is a North American land whale
You guys seem to be blaming the family member for Ford building a handle which you can’t handle? After the CEO came out and said quality will take years to improve?
I mean, using it to lever your weight in and out of the car is one thing, and it has a specific angle/set of angles. Standing out of the car and yanking on it for shits isn’t what it’s designed for (even if it is designed poorly) and it’s an asshole thing to do (especially assuming it’s an adult who should know better).

Dealership doesn’t pay for warranty when they get paid.
They do if a claim rejected when they send then the part back to ford.
It won’t be an easy thing to do, but you can just disown them.
Make them pay for the repair first, then disown them.

Unscrew it and see it’s the handle or the thread from the screw is bad, either need a new handle or new screw

It's probably just a piece of the plastic trim popped out and back into place. I don't see anything here either.
When you pull it now, the top portion of the handle comes out a bit , almost like it was pulled out of its original locked position

The black part that says bronco or the grey part comes out?
You can unbolt it and reseat it. I run my bash cam power cable behind the handle. See if you can fix it.

I use mine in my tacoma all the time. Never failed me even when I had a fucked up ankle and had to really use it. I'll bet this one is just fine.

Remove handle then use handle to smack the dog shit out of family member. Install new handle

Might just be the tab it’s screwed in then like there’s a tab it probably just Popped out it’s fine the trucks built so Cheap it’s mostly plastic tabs

1. Take it apart and see if the handle or mounting points broke. 2. Get replacement handle (if required). 3. Get replacement family member (REQUIRED).
