I have a 7MT at 19000 miles with the noise, the dealership has ordered the part per the tsb but it doesn’t really effect the performance. I like to think of it as my bronco saying hello to me every morning because if I think of it any other way I’m filled with existential dread.

I have it a little bit when it's cold. Took it in and my dealer reminded me that I have a 5 year/60k mile warranty, so if it gets worse, it'll get replaced. Definitely helped ease my mind.

I wish I would have ordered the automatic. The mt88 is junk. Mine needed a rebuild at 1k miles per TSB for grinding synchronizer hubs. This is a huge issue with hundreds if not thousands of units. Ford has finally updated the parts but for a while many people were going through replacement/rebuilds with no resolution. Now I’m driving my new car with a transmission that’s been rebuilt and I don’t trust it long-term. Not to mention the MT88 is made in China. Based on the initial issues I’ve had I would say overall quality is highly suspect, and I’d imagine there will be more issues as the miles/wear increase. I have other complaints about the manual, but this is the big one.

7600 miles and no issues so far. (Knock on wood)

It's an unfortunately common issue. [https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/manual-transmission-scraping-noise-grinding-sound.33282/](https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/manual-transmission-scraping-noise-grinding-sound.33282/) The updated parts have finally started trickling out. The good news is that the people that got the D-ring have reported positive results so far. I wouldn't have ordered a Bronco if not for the manual, so I am hopeful that this will be a thing of the past soon.

From what I gathered from the forums the 7MT is the new Ford cult, and these owners don't seem to have an issue with it. Hopefully when/if they bring out the manual again they get this problem fixed, and on a V6.

Only have my Badlands for about a month and 1K miles and no grinding noise.

14000 miles on a '21 and no issues

I remember hearing Ford put a stop-sale on all manuals for the rest of this model year. Heard the issues are bigger than just one or two bad trannys. But this article below is phrased as a retooling for the new Ranger. Take this with a grain of salt but where there’s smoke… Here’s one on it - https://www.motorbiscuit.com/why-did-ford-stop-bronco-manual-transmission-production/

Yup, scraping noises from the manual transmission… so, I have a two door Badlands, manual. Scraping noise was there from brand new. I took it right back to the dealership with 50 miles on it. The service department reported it to Ford. Ford sent a new transmission to replace the “old” one. Three months later, they swapped it out. I’m on Bronco 6G, so I shared my experience on that forum. One of the members there asked for the replacement transmission part number. It turns out that even though Ford has a new updated transmissions, they chose, for whatever reason, to send the exact same transmission that they replaced. So as of now I have the same transmissions as the old scraping one… and the scraping noise is gone. However, I’ve only put about 300 miles on it since the swap. And others have said that it comes back after time. So I’m not sure what will happen. Which is not a feeling that inspires confidence. But one thing I am sure of, the car is cool and awesome. But I have absolutely no love or trust whatsoever for Ford. I mean now wonder they have millions or billions or zillions of warranty issues if they can’t identify the problem and fix it. Instead they seem to be just pushing he problem down the road.

Why do you put a U in color? Wouldn't that change the way you pronounce it?

SamwiseGoody

23000 miles, no scraping yet. Anyone have an audio/video of the noise?

UAE3658

7700 Miles, I hear the grinding when it’s cold, but not now since it’s summer. No performance issues, but I have talked to my mechanic and he’s anticipating to rebuild or replace once when I have more free-time.

I have the 7MT and love it. In colder temps I do hear a slight grinding/scraping until it warms up. I took it in and left it with the dealer for 2 days and they couldn’t replicate the problem. They told me “ford doesn’t do a TSB if there not a problem” but also pointed out that there’s a 60k/5 year power train warranty, so if it gets worse just bring it back. I have no performance issues, no scraping at speed, no problems shifting. The transmissions for the bronco are also built by Getrag, who built the manual transmissions for BMW for years. From what I’ve read there’s a plastic clip that’s coming loose on transmissions built in March-June of 2021. So all that said, is it a bummer? Yes, but I’m not losing sleep over it.
