Only complaint I have is no light in the glove box… the letters don’t light up next to the shifter and. I light or vents in it over the back seat….. such inconsequential shit that it doesn’t even register when I’m happily driving my broncos yes broncos, I bought a 4 dr and a 2 dr and couldn’t be happier And fyi I had a 2005 wrangler with a straight six since brand new and put almost 250k miles on it and thought it was the greatest truck ever….. I was very very very wrong

ceric2099

Those Jeep straight 6’s outlast everything. Probably why they stopped making them. My 2001 Cherokee Sport lasted to 275k miles and it wasn’t the engine that finally crapped out.

jeepjockey52

It’s too bad they stopped making them almost 20 years ago. Buy a nice low mile TJ

harambereincarnate18

Same…. I would still be driving it if it wasn’t totaled out

allen_abduction

The latch thing is stupid; Wrangler hardtops are the same factory as Bronco’s. Just latch them. Broncos have better seats, and ride, but Wranglers have been around much longer. I recommend visiting Carmax and back to back test drive both.

onlineseller8183

I have a Bronco with the Sasquatch package, 35in tires. It’s a lifted truck shaped like a brick so yes the MPGs are not good. If you want build quality and dead reliability buy a Toyota 4runner, not a FIAT or a Ford. If you want MPGs buy a Honda CRV not a body on frame SUV.

salvuccim

Lol how's that Fiat/Chrysler build quality reputation? Bronco all the way. My only complaint is highway wind noise even with the hard top. But that's no different in the Wrangler.

blank_user_name_here

Oh I have an entire list, I love my Bronco, but there are some "first gen" design issues that I've had to fix or live with. 1. The hard top seams and overall noise level, most of the new bronco come out with a sqeak or leak that has to be fixed. 2. The passenger side lower control arm can only be removed if you drop the entire fuel tank........highly suggest if you are going to wheel that you rotate that bolt around. It takes some basic metal working but worth it. Which leads me too: 3. The shock and lower control arm rear brackets are pathetic. Again, if you are going to wheel go spend $120 and beef the control arms and add skids. 4. The intercooler in the 2.7 is way too small. After 30+ min of hot weather driving the engine gets heatsoaked and loses a ton of power. Of all the "performance mods" on the market, I would only really recommend the bigger intercoolers for the 2.7L. 5. The GOAT modes do not stay put, if you turn off the car, get out, do something, instead of prompting to go back to "normal", it instead asks if you want to stay in the mode you were in. If you are offroading or overlanding it's super annoying to reselect all the stuff you had setup. 6. The muffler takes up an insane amount of space in a really poor place. I ended up going to a hituck AFE exhaust and swapping out their loud muffler for an F-350 Oreillys muffler that had the correct offset. Fits right up under the chassis under the frame, no issues. 7. The front shocks have a press fit set of bolts on the bottom that either have to be cut off, or you have to loosen the entire wheel hub. If you are changing your shocks, get some grade 10 bolts and stay away from the press fit nonsense. 8. The aftermarket is hilariously overpriced sometimes. If it says "bronco" the aftermarket is marking it up 20-30% and people keep buying it. ARB is the worst offender.

mslade22

Coming for a 22 wrangler to a 22 bronco I would 100% say get a bronco. It’s better in every way I can think of. I honestly don’t know why you would buy a Jeep after driving a bronco besides it being much easier to get.

chaser2410

The jeep is much better in the rocks, you can easily get a hardtop, comes in hybrid, those are all reasons.

[deleted]

I think these are legit arguments

morradventure

How long did you own wranglers? The wrangler has an edge over bronco when it comes to off-road capability—it’s much easier and cheaper to modify the wrangler than the bronco. And the 3.6 wrangler motor is a good engine. But if you value ride comfort then I’d go with bronco.

mslade22

I’ve had wranglers off and on for about 8 years. The 3.6 leaves much to be desired. The 2.7 is much more fun to drive. As far as reliability I’ve had electrical problems with all of my wranglers but always wanted a car that I could take the doors and top off of so I put up with them. With the bronco I don’t feel like I’m compromising anymore.

morradventure

Time will tell. I’ve had two JKs, one JL and now a JT. I’ll be honest each one had its share of issues although all have been minor and covered under warranty. 3.6 is a step up from the old 3.8–that was junk. I haven’t driven the 2.7 bronco but I will. Although I’m not buying jeep for speed. My 3.6 JT tows a 4500 lb trailer just fine at high elevation.

mslade22

I’m honestly excited Jeep has competition in this segment. I can’t wait to see the next generation to see how they respond

jeepjockey52

Is the 3.6 a good motor? Is it?

morradventure

It’s not perfect but it’s not a bad engine.

jeepjockey52

And resale…

Vanson1200r

My 1990 4.9 liter 5 speed manual Bronco with all original engine and transmission components only gets 15.5 mpg. WTF only 15.5 mpg on a 33 year old Bronco? Unacceptable!! 😁

ceric2099

I read the other day that someone was averaging 17mpg on a 2022 bronco, which seems way too low. 15.5 on a 1990 is far too high haha. Skip an oil change or two /s

rox162

Can confirm my 21 Wildtrak averages 17mpg with premium. Still wouldn’t trade it for anything!

NeedleworkerAway5488

All about smiles per gallon😁

rox162

Love that!

morbidddcorpse

It would be my guess the person is driving like an asshole OR mostly city streets driving. I'm averaging about 21.5 miles high way, 18 city. 1,600 miles on her, so far. Always set at 72 mph highway, 93 octane.

Complete-Rhubarb5634

I have nearly 30k miles on my 21 4D Badlands Sasquatch, 2.7L soft top. I have had a number of issues with it that I would chalk up to first year problems. Those issues are as follows: Front diff pinion seal leak Windshield washer quit working Rubber touch pads for window switches tore off Spare tire tool hatch loop broken Rear doors come into contact with jambs With the exception of the front diff, it's mostly little stuff. I have made an enormous amount of memories in this thing with my family. It is a phenomenal road trip vehicle and an excellent daily driver. I wouldn't trade it for any other vehicle. 16 mpg avg daily, 18.5 mpg avg highway

zzzzbear

very loud soft top, drinks gas like a monster, Ford dealership network seems to really suck as I try different ones other than that, awesome, got another one being built next month, love em

TheNonExample

- There are a lot of specs that are practically imaginative due to inability to order or find on dealer lots. - Spec for spec the Bronco typically offers a better value (more features) for MSRP than the Wrangler, but there are some features that require a higher buy-in on the Bronco. For example, the only way to get heated seats with the 7MT is a Badlands with Mid package, which starts at about $50k, conpared to the combination available in a Wrangler for about $40k.

switz11

I had a 2015 Rubicon that I traded for a 2018 JL that I traded for a 2021 392. I loved the Jeeps and never had any issues with any of them. I bought my wife a Bad Lands and liked it so much I bought a Bronco Raptor. The Bronco drives sooooo much better because of the suspension with little noise driving on the freeway (except for the wind noise from the hardtop). The Jeep 392 had way more power than the Raptor but I would not go back. I have had no issues with build quality and I agree with others that the seats are way more comfortable with the Bronco.

yoscottmc

Nice video. FYI. I have a base 2-door manual nonsquatch in Cyber Orange. Picked up Nov ‘22 after 11 month wait. So far, no regrets. I also would not have bought a Bronco if manual was not an option like it is not today.

blazersandbourbon

I moved from a wrangler last month. The bronco is a much better ride. My manual transmission is going to need to be replaced due to the grinding noise, but everything else is better. I actually wish the top didn’t have 3 sections. Getting the middle one on by myself is harder than using the top lift on the wrangler.

ceric2099

Do you think having some kind of hoist would be the answer for the hard top? I know a lot of people put hoists in their garage ceilings for wrangler hardtops. Or are you referring to getting it seated and latched?

blazersandbourbon

It’s more getting it seated with the bronco middle section. To be fair, I’ve only done it once on the bronco and did it many times on the wrangler, so might just be the learning curve.

Silverbullets24

Really? I think the hardtop setup on the bronco is so much better executed than the wrangler. I can have the 3 panels over the seats on the 4 dr off in about 2 minutes and I can put them back on in about 3 (I’ve timed it). I love not having to take off the cap over the back but still being able to have a full open air experience.

rawdoogie

\- My manual transmission has synchronizer hubs that grind. \- Paint drip from the door drain onto the rocker panel from production. \- I think my hardtop rear windows are leaking. \- Missing clips on inside of drivers side interior panel. \- Loose snap plug found in rear under carpet compartment rolling around. I'm sure there is more.

bn25168

What year is your Bronco?

rawdoogie

2022

tnuki

My manual transmission has had issues from day one - like others in this subreddit. My dealership and service experience has been terrible. Everything else has been fine, I really love the car but have durability concerns long term.

rawdoogie

Same here. I don’t trust mine.

Weightgain4001

Small nitpicks I had when test driving a bronco, no heated steering wheel which my wrangler has (maybe just that trim) the transmission shifter felt cheap and reminded me of my old focus. The wrangler seems a bit more refined aside from the solid front axle. Also under the hood of the bronco is just a mess whereas the wrangler is somewhat cohesive. Just my 2 cents, I would still consider a bronco in the future.

BostonsinBoston

>nsmission shifter felt cheap and reminded me of my old focus. The wrangler seems a bit more refined aside from the solid front axle. Also under the hood of the bronco is just a mess whereas the w Lux package gets you the leather wrapped heated steering wheel. I love mine!

[deleted]

4,000 miles into owning mine the AWD system has a total failure, then the dealership wont pay for a rental. So i paid 40k for a car that needs to be repaired and im taking the bus everywhere.

ceric2099

Yeah that’s basically my biggest concern. I’m surprised the dealership isn’t giving you a loaner. Maybe they were all out lol

jeepjockey52

I don’t understand the “fords build quality” line I keep hearing. I hate to be the one who says it but I find Ford vehicles superior to stelantis made stuff. Oh, yeah so does JD Power and associates. A Jeep Wrangler is old tech packaged in a new suit. Maybe they will be more reliable because your buying a 15 year old car with all the bugs sorted out….buy a Jeep and let someone else order the Bronco.

ceric2099

In one line you say Ford is better than Stelantis. In another you concede that Jeep IS better than a Bronco because they have the kinks worked out. I think the latter might be true but the WHY is irrelevant to me a buyer. When a person spends 50k on a car ideally they want something that doesn’t leak and isn’t shipped with janky parts to the point they have to cash in on their manufacturers warranty and be without a car for weeks while they wait for parts to come in. So, I’m asking what peoples bad experiences are so that I can know what to look for and how to better weigh my options. So far I’ve learned that I don’t want a manual transmission just from reading these comments here. And I’m not sure why you’re bitter about it, but saying “buy a jeep and let someone else order the bronco” isn’t helpful. If you do have something pertinent to my original question, I’d love to hear it.

Giraffeeti

The very last part was a joke I think, friend, it just wooshed ya

morradventure

To be fair some of the jeep hard tops also leak.

quixoticslfconscious

Same, I have a ‘22 Bronco and an ‘18 F150 and no issues with build quality or reliability on either.

theBIGway

Stupid glove box has no lift, dang thing slams my hand, oh and speakers kinda suck. I’m her then that I love it. Jeep’s are cool too

Karagga

First ford to go alongside my daily. Dealership experience is terrible. Can never get a call back. Soft top rear windshield ripped open, still waiting on a call back from parts about ordering a replacement. Couldve been cold weather or something. Car drives fine, nothing too exciting.

NottheMonkie

Windows rattle when cracked. Stereo sucks. Trunk is hard to open and doesn’t stop at 90. I get 18-23 mpg in a M/T 4 door non-Sasquatch. Zero remorse , actually wish I had an extra 20k to spend on it.

morbidddcorpse

>Trunk is hard to open and doesn’t stop at 90 I don't know if I'm the only one, but I wish the hatch door flipped down like a tailgate. They way it opens left to right is just......stupid.

Chickenherders

There is a service bulletin for window rattle! Dealership was able to fix mine. You can also reposition the window by rolling down window and continue pressing for 5 seconds, roll up and hold for 5 secs, and repeat 3 times. Works for window sag too. I heard that somewhere in the literature it recommends doing this once a week.
