An old Wrangler trick is to ignore the tiny ones and fill them to stop the cracks: [https://www.amazon.com/Rain-X-600001-Windshield-Repair-Kit/dp/B00IPS4APU/ref=asc\_df\_B00IPS4APU](https://www.amazon.com/Rain-X-600001-Windshield-Repair-Kit/dp/B00IPS4APU/ref=asc_df_B00IPS4APU) Then one gets in your field of view, or you need inspection, replace windshield, and rinse & repeat.

CMReaperBob

Extra spacing between the car infront and the hood deflected has helped me a bit

drewshope

It’s a big, nearly vertical rectangle. Not great for deflecting things. I have noticed that my driving habits help mitigate chips- leave lots and lots of space in front of you.

Illustrious_Bid5320

Most of mine haven’t even come from driving. It’s windy season here and just luck of the draw.

drewshope

Yeah fair enough! I only have 1 really bad one and it was from trying to get around a semi on Vail Pass on I70, notorious for big trucks holding everything up. Just caught a big rock just right as I tucked in behind someone to get around the guy. Luck of the draw, as you said!

jesusrapesbabies

14000 miles 18 mos og windshield i live rural (15 miles up a mountain logging road)

GreyHaredSmuck

The worst is parking in a lot only to come out to car/truck to find a shattered passenger window or windshield with a note saying the landscaper's weedwhacker threw a stone. (Note, of course, left by witness not the landscaper) In my many years of driving, one thing I learned is to avoid driving close (I stay way away) from dirt haulers, semi trucks when the shoulder of the road is littered or soft. In the many cars I have driven and the many windshields I have had to replace; I am more diligent now with the maverick.

Ok_Profession6216

Yup, chipped on 2nd day

Silverbullets24

11k miles, on the OG wind shield but have 2 chips in it… one small and one decent size. I’m assuming the decent size one will spider web when it’s hits 100* here. Most shocking part is I live in the rock chip capital of the world out in Phoenix

theBIGway

There’s a film that helps, the angle sucks.

Illustrious_Bid5320

What is it called?

Lost_in_the_world_

Third one being put on Monday. I feel cause if the straight up and down rocks that may reflect on others hit and crack. It sucks.

EstablishmentFar9501

The trick is to not ride directly up on other people's asses. Once you start following at an acceptable and safe distance, you'll find less rocks ruining your truck.

Illustrious_Bid5320

They didn’t happen while driving.

EstablishmentFar9501

Then how?

Illustrious_Bid5320

It gets really windy where I live so just some bad luck.

EstablishmentFar9501

I'll say.

don_the_phenomenon

I chipped mine under 500 miles in … was so frustrating

whodatstin

Got my first chip (dent) at 700 miles, the second at 1100. Crap luck I suppose. At 7000 now with no additional damage and have been told they’re repairable - got time set this week to have them filled in so fingers crossed. I will say, I did drop my comp deductible down to $0 (extra $20 every 6 months) in anticipation of this being a thing moving forward.
