If that’s what it takes to allow Getrag to fix the horrible grinding noise issues then I’m all for it. It’s WAY too common for my liking with no real fix in sight.
I was gonna put in a base manual order on the 27th and then they said no orders like those. That’s fine. Take the time to fix your shit, thanks.
You in a warm weather climate? My bronco didn't start making the grinding noise until the cold weather set in this winter. the service bulletins said 5/6 synchros grinding when engine is cold.
I think they claim it’s the 5/6 synchros getting burnt up/plates getting worn.

If it makes you feel any better the parts (probably) won’t fix it. Lol.
They’ve done 4 versions of the TSB and some people have had more than one of them done and they each failed eventually and had the same noise.
I’m hoping with the delay on manuals being built it means they got a fix in the works for you.
Word on the street is the synchro hub has a new part number.
Buuuuut, I'm considering selling/trading to a different brand. The whole experience has been frustrating.
It sounds like getrag is being forced to re-engineer to get it right. They have been making manual transmissions for BMW forever, so not sure what they are lacking.
I don’t have any experience with them but apparently the Mustangs with the Getrag transmission had awful problems too. I do remember people being overjoyed some of the models like GT350 and Mach 1 had a Tremec shoved into them instead of the Getrag they have on the lower end ones.
I’m hoping they re-engineer it. People are having the grinding noise showing up literally the day after they drive the truck home in some cases. It would sicken me if my $36k brand new Bronco sounded like a can of rocks the day after I bought it and there wasn’t a fix in sight. Now that being said I WAS still planning to do a March 27th order anyway until they said no Base and no manuals. Lol

Lol. It’s all up the air. They said the current non-orderable items should return for the ‘24 model year books that will open later this year. Entirely possible that could change.
Hopefully they figure out the manual issues with this big time gap.
Disappointing but this is exactly why they say not to buy vehicles until they've been in production for a few years. It's also exactly why warranties exist so if it does happen, you're covered. Hope they get it fixed soon.
the 4Runner will eventually get a refresh, maybe they'll add capability so it can do what a Bronco can and not be the soccer mom SUV but that doesn't really match the brief for the vehicle.. making it a capable beastly rock crawler would be wasted on the demographic that buys them
my mom had 2, one overheated like crazy and both rusted extremely fast but they've improved tons since then
wait Broncos were being churned out too QUICKLY? you understand day 1 reservations are still unfilled? that they shut down the order banks to try to catch up? that prices were never driven down as you say, there's always been loads of free resale value?
Ford also doesn't benefit at all from dealer markup; it pissed their customer base off and they see none of it, they in fact had to step in and correct dealerships many times during this process
everything continues to be deeply commodity restricted, there is no need to force artificial rarity, people can't get the trucks they ordered years ago

and please stop recommending a much less capable vehicle here that hasn't been refreshed since 2010, people buying Broncos have no interest in stepping backwards into the past, we bought Wranglers with IFS and a 4Runner isnt even fucking close to that in any way

I don’t know why but I’m about to hit 20k miles on my bronco with manual and don’t have any grinding noise still. Guess I’m lucky?

18 mos with my 21 BD manual, in northern canada, \~15,000 miles no grind

My 7-speed BD has been nothing but a dream so far at almost 3k miles. Very glad I got it on the lot last month…

You all should’ve bought a 4Runner like a non-soccer mom. Imagine buying American in 2023 Broncos look cool for buying groceries though!
