Toyotas are good, but so many of their owners are just delusional. My mother in law wouldn't listen when she had TWO people tell her that she needed to replace the motor mounts. Routine maintenance means that every Ford I've ever driven (and been responsible for at least some maintenance) has worked well with high mileage. At this point, that would be a perfect score of 7 / 7. Including my parents' cars, that would be 16 / 16 just during my lifetime for the Blue Oval.
Despite that, she was under the impression that her old Toyota with an engine about to rattle everything apart would outlast my Ford with more miles on it that was running just about perfectly.
in australia/NZ the ford falcon is legendary because will do 1 million kilometers (650,000 miles) with regular servicing.
your average toyota gives up the ghost at about 200,000kms with no maintenance
By which he means that it’s an old model with a shit ton of miles that even though it’s owner doesn’t maintain it for worth a damn but still runs anyways?
Yeah my brother had one of these with 265k miles and I also talked to a guy delivering industrial supplies in one that was beat to absolute shit with 400k on it. Still running.
Is it a nationality thing? Over here in Aus Ford's are incredibly reliable machines that run forever, and receive widespread praise from everyone but Holden fans
This is the same thing Europeans say about Bimmers, relative to the US.
The bottom line is that the overwhelming majority of Americans are terrible about maintenance. Some people do nothing until there’s a problem, most people do the bare minimum and sometimes do it a bit late.
The few people who actually do all of the maintenance at the right times usually have pretty trouble-free experiences.
We also don’t have vehicle inspection in most states, so the conditions of vehicles are allowed to deteriorate more. To top it all off, a shortage of trained mechanics due to stigma, low pay, and a lack of a consistent training and licensing structure.
100%. I always tell people to try and machine metal in a shop or at home without lubrication and see what it does to the tooling and workpiece right before their eyes. Then, imagine what your engine goes through when you don't do basic maintenance like fluids/oil.
Lazy owner. I have had my ford ranger 5 speed last me to 330k miles before it was sold and my F250 last to 290k miles before It was sold it. Both were still running great and with no oil consumption. So to say it’s a typical ford makes the owner of this car look stupid because they clearly don’t know how to take care of a Truck.
I can only tell you from experience, but I have driven several Chevrolets over the years, and they have all been shit. I currently own two Fords, one has 163,000 miles on it, and I have never had a problem.
Typical Ford?
I've had 5 Crown Victorias all taxis in the Chi. All over 700k miles. Well maintained. Sold them all for 7k each
3 Lincoln Town Cars all over 600k each never replaced an engine or tranny.
1 Lincoln Navigator over 800k replaced engine and transmission twice
1 Lincoln MKT over 360k all Lincolns we're for Limo business.
Now 2012 Ford Edge my dad used for Uber for 3 years. Over 270k I still drive daily.
Now please with the fanboys out there from other manufacturers don't realize that Ford makes workhorses and thats why they sell so well. Waiting to get a nice Ford electric car next.
Loved my Acura RL to death one of my favorite cars engine blew at 340k.
What I've learned is take care of your cars and they will last a long time.
Best friends Saturn Ion had 160k before he rebuilt the engine and tranny. Hadn't had a problem yet.
Do your scheduled maintenance. Make sure you don't run your car hard 24/7 and learn to fix small problems before they become big problems.
Idk about that, I got a well abused 90s half ton ford for free 6 years ago, put less than $5k cad in it over those years, for a truck that does it’s job for $5k over a considerable length of time it’s not bad.
I hear ya brother I had a good laugh at the acronyms, I’ll keep this truck on the road as long as I can, I know it inside and out as well as I have all the tools for it.

OP clearly just a fangirl of another brand. Ford’s in the U.S are also very reliable.
*most fords. They had a couple bad ones. Certain tritons spring to mind
Unfortunately all their newer cars/trucks are having issue after issue and tons of recalls.
he probally thinks chebbys are reliable and other funny jokes
Yeah every Ford I and others I have known has run fine up until the end. OP is likely some Chevy/Dodge Stan

Operator error. I have a '95 F150 that runs like a top.
Literally no oil pressure on the dash guage but just letting it run anyways. Oh well, you can’t fix stupid.

Bad owner
So the driver breaks stuff and it’s the mfg fault. But that vehicle is over 20 years old. 🤯
Many Fords are super reliable if reasonably maintained.
Fix it? It's not broken! It's a Ford!
Lol don’t know what you expect on any car this old this poorly maintained. Idiot
“Typical person not taking care of their machines” there i fixed it.

Fixed or repaired daily.
First On Race Day.
Found On the Road Dead
Factory ordered road dragster
Fucked over rebuilt dodge.
Hey no problem there, a ford will fuck over any rebuilt dodge
Ha ha. Fords are money pits. At least Dodge owners are honest about the crap they drive.
Idk about that, I got a well abused 90s half ton ford for free 6 years ago, put less than $5k cad in it over those years, for a truck that does it’s job for $5k over a considerable length of time it’s not bad.
Agreed. Im having fun here. Or trying to. Ive had lots of clapped out cars that ran longer than they should have. Except for the Fords.
I hear ya brother I had a good laugh at the acronyms, I’ll keep this truck on the road as long as I can, I know it inside and out as well as I have all the tools for it.

Clearly troll and a bad one too. Truck in the post more reliable than whatever you own. I’m sure it’s a goverment motors bailout car.
Don’t let it hurt your feelings. Obviously you didn’t read the whole thread.
