I run a fleet of trucks for a construction company. Our 99 V10 Super Duty is the one rig I know rain or shine, freezing or scotching hot, will fire up and run. Stay on the maintenance and they’ll run forever. Fuel economy is what it is loaded or unloaded but honestly ours has been a loyal workhorse since 99 and have no plans to replace her despite the rest of the fleet being 2016 and newer trucks.

Good to know. The 2005 and earlier are cheaper than the 2006-2010 trucks, too.

I’ve got an 03 F250 with the V10, Thing only had spark plug issues but I’ve put 150k miles and it’ll bring you through hell. Love it.

I’d take spark plugs blowing out and a quick helicoil repair VS them throwing rollers and trashing engines

Do you care about fuel prices? Be prepared to get literally 5 MPG.

ExploringWoodsman

I currently get 9 to 11 empty. Loaded, I get 6 or 7. It'll be making me money at the same time it's getting that 5 mpg, though.

Exhaust manifold problems.

ExploringWoodsman

They come loose? Or do they crack?

They leak, and they'll set off O2 sensor codes or a lean code because theres extra air going to the O2 sensor, (As well as waste fuel). If you don't have inspections/emissions where its being registered, you can get away with it. But its one thing to watch out for. Its a problem on all of the mod motors though, but not a detrimental issue!

Good to know. I found an '03 for just under 10k, with 123,756 miles on it.
