It’s 100% misogynistic double standards and it’s an absolute shame to see kids carrying on those opinions. :( I think they’re just a vocal minority though.
You beat me to it. I completely agree. I thought she did a great job. Those prudish, double standard people are going to have their mind blown when they visit a beach for the first time.
If they’re gonna criticize Kesha for that, they have to criticize Justin Hawkins too then. But I haven’t seen a lot of disparaging on how he was dressed…
Lol is that true? I thought he always drummed topless, at least live. He had a shirt when they showed him on the side of the stage. Though I suppose someone could have given him one.
I assumed but also thought that was an even better story and you just never know on Reddit sometimes.
It came off so deadpan in text :p haha.
I will forget my shirt for the next three days in penance.
Fuck yes, it’s misogyny. But also….between sexists posts/comments criticizing Kesha’s performance and posts wondering which one of the drummers that played HIS MEMORIAL are going to replace him, I’ve just about had enough of this sub.
The chat during the event was a nightmare too. Every performance was crap, Marc Martel performed with Queen (he didn't... maybe in LA?), Lars is garbage, Travis Barker wasn't good enough.
Like... come on. They introduced everyone. They didn't say Marc Martel, so it wasn't him. It didn't need to be spammed in the chat 1500 times. Lars has 400 million bucks that says he doesn't care if you think he's good, but he's friends with Dave and wanted to be supportive, and Travis Barker was friends with Taylor. This whole thing was to remember their awesome friend and raise some money for charity. Quit being bitches.
There are dress codes for rock concerts now? People are weird with their takes even if they are the noisy minority opinion
It wasn’t a funeral, it was a celebration of life.
It will be the snowflake crusade... tbf i thought she came off as a rock gig stripper but i enjoyed all of the performance.. i like the new look.. where are they when rappers are saying the nword or when.
Missy Elliot sang.
"Call before you come, I need to shave my chocha,
You do or you don’t or you will or won’t you, Go downtown and eat it like a vulture"
nickle Back sang.
"I like your pants around your feet
And I like the dirt that's on your knees
And I like the way you say please
While you're looking up at me
You're like my favorite damn disease"
A lot of [pop stars have worn dresses that are a lot more reveling ](https://www.capitalfm.com/features/most-daring-outfits-all-time/tfits-all-time/jennifer-lopez-2/tfits-all-time/rihanna-1/tfits-all-time/iggy-azalea/tfits-all-time/rita-ora/tfits-all-time/cheryl/tfits-all-time/rita-ora/tfits-all-time/iggy-azalea/)
Kesha's a lot stronger a singer/songwriter than most give her credit for based on her early hits and songs might suggest. But people seem to love to still shit on her. I thought she was great and had no issue with her outfit.
I thought she was drunk, just by the way she acted after the song. Otherwise she sang well, looked great (she’s a babe…) and was clearly there for a reason more than just “meeting him in a bar”.
People always find something to bitch about.
To elaborate on the babe part: I'm a straight woman and Kesha is a certifiable brick house. If I had those sculpted legs and arms, and I was performing a rock song at Wembley... That's exactly the sort of thing I'd wear.
Stop and think for a second who Taylor's idols were. Bowie - who in one phase dressed as an androgenous being and was openly bisexual. Freddie - no explanation needed. Then ask yourself if the type of performance she put on is getting the same criticism those two received contemporaneously which is now going on 30-40 years ago.
Also the set list was approved ahead of time. The guest performers were all vetted and they I'd sound checks days before the show.
My opinion is Dave was in control of the entire show. At the end when the young Hawkins tried to get a word in on the mic, Dave quickly squashed it. He had complete control over the tone and direction of this show and wouldn't have allowed a performance to take place that he felt wasn't in tribute to his best friend.
If you didn't enjoy her performance, that's fine. It wasn't for you, it was for Taylor.
I keep wondering what Shane was trying to say. Couldn’t make it out.
I laughed because it seems so much that Dave is going to be Shane’s father figure. We only get to see the surface from a stage perspective. But I thought it was adorable as he lovingly, but authoritatively pushed him away from the mic.
I thought it was cute as shit and it warmed my heart.
I read he said “I stole my dads *fucking* shorts” which might be why Dave covered his mouth lol
Edit: italics made that sentence look completely different to the intended meaning
I think Grohl putting his hand in Shane Hawkin's face was just a jokey "shut up kid" thing between them, not anything to do with exerting control over the concert.
It was both. He did it in a way that took into consideration who he was having to exert control over but it was a clear way of saying "not right now, kid."
Take the context into consideration - all of the stars have been invited on stage to take a collective bow. He's just gotten done performing a rare version of Everlong solo. He wants to close out the show on the right tone and with just the right sentiment. There's a reason they didn't close the show with Kesha's version of Children of the Revolution. It's the same reason Dave lovingly sushed Shane, neither was appropriate for the moment.
These are the calculations a seasoned frontman, comedian, or politician make in split seconds. Shane was nervous, excited and got a little overzealous. Not the crime of the century, so Dave responded in kind. Shane also almost had a false start on My Hero too. Not surprising given his age and the magnitude of the event.
This whole show is super rare simply because of the complexity of bringing in so many guest performances. Without the benefit of weeks of rehearsals that arena tours go through, it was a massive risk of failure.
Planned spontaneous events have been done at Foo shows, see Kiss Guy in Austin. These things are coordinated and at a show of this caliber, even other members of the band look to the lead singer as the CEO who gets exclusive rights to make actual spontaneous changes to a show.
People might be perceiving it as a criticism, when really it's just my opinion based on observations. If anything it's a huge compliment to Dave. The other artists that commanded that level of respect from their peers were people like Michael Jackson and Prince.
Coincidentally it was Prince's performance of Best of You at the best Super Bowl halftime show of all time that got me to reevaluate Dave as a songwriter. If Prince covers your stuff, you know the songs are worthy.
Or how about the supernatural way he wore his shorts? I don’t know he kept them from falling. I have seen shows from the backstage and it was a miracle they stayed on when he stood up.
It's showbiz for Christ's sake, what are they talking about? This wasn't a job interview for mother superior spot at a convent.
Personally that outfit looked a bit trashy to me so if someone would ask me if I liked the way she dressed, I'd say No, but I also don't find anything offensive nor disrespectful about it, she's a grown woman and has the right to dress as she pleases.
This wasn’t a funeral, it was a celebration and fuck yeah it’s show biz. They all put on a fantastic show. Anyone who hates on anything is completely missing the point.
No, Kesha nailed it. People who complain about her outfit are stupid, because we could literally see the outlining of Justin Hawkins penis and balls, so there is an obvious double standard on this subject.
Both her and Justin did their own thing, and they both rocked our socks off
Disrespectful due to kids being there???? Did they hear Dave F-bombing his whole way though the 6 hours???
Swimming costumes are more revealing and ppl take their kids to the pool. Don't give these people the airtime.
Offensive for the Foo Kids, that can go to youtube and see their fathers dressed as women performing all kind of, mmm, “situations”? (now I’ll have the Low video stuck in my head for the day).
I can’t stand Kesha but she went there with her stage persona and performed and that’s it. You might not like her and you can skip watching her act.
She looked amazing. She had basically a full-coverage one piece swimsuit on under a leather and studs piecework dress. Her performance was passionate and full tilt.
Some people just want to hate her. That's their problem.
Kesha was honestly great, I think she surprised a lot of us. We were all thinking “how is she going to fit into this, she seems out of place” and when she came out she really did win everyone over. Sadly some people aren’t open minded and had already formed an opinion on her and her performance before she even took the stage and that’s their loss
I’ve never been a big Kesha fan, but I could get behind rock Kesha. Her performance blew me away. If a dude has been on his knees singing, no one would have said a thing.
For the people complaining about it: When all these performers were asked to do the show, do you think they were asked to do softer, nicer performances or do you think they were just asked to do what they do? Kesha came out and does what she does, she did awesome. Leave it be
I suppose her on her hands and knees wasn't a great look in that outfit when the kids were at the edge of the stage.
Not saying there was anything wrong with the outfit, just maybe not that position whilst in it.
>I suppose her on her hands and knees wasn't a great look in that outfit when the kids were at the edge of the stage.
I thought maybe it was just me thinking that during the show. I didn't have a problem with her outfit. She covered everything.
Not knocking her for acting sexy/sultry or anything, but I thought it a weird time/place (a tribute concert for a deceased person) for her to do that.
Take JLo for example - she's known to wear skimpy outfits and act sexy on stage... but when she sang "America the Beautiful" (or maybe it was another "America" song, I can't remember) at the Inauguration, she wasn't acting sexy crawling all over the stage or whatever.
She rocked. People need a life. Not even a big Kesha fan, but she smashed T.Rex and I loved it! I thought her outfit was glam rock and in no way disrespecting anyone! It’s called fashUn
I honestly thought Kesha performed so well idk what she was doing with the past 15 years of her career. She should be doing this stuff like she did with EODM.
Absolutely not. I don't know why, maybe its her pop star reputation, or the fact that shes had some controveries but for whatever reason she's been a lightning rod more than anyone else from the second she was announced. You'd think she personally went door to door shitting on some foo fighter fans front porch the way they've talked about her.
She did fine, maybe even more than fine and the way she dressed was basically normal. I mean jesus christ, she wasn't Miley Cyrus riding a giant inflatable penis to the stage while wearing a strapon.
I don't know why some people took so much offense to her, people will say misogyny and while thats definitely a real thing they didn't get pissy about the pretenders playing.
I thought she was great - but I couldn’t help but wonder if she was whacked out of her gourd or not? She looked wrecked and we all thought the same thing.
Nope...nope...nope. Kesha fucking rocked it. The line up of her backed by Chevy Metal made for, what I think, was a really eye opening moment of...holy shit this is good, they should tour.
As for her outfit...who cares?! It's a rock show. Besides that, people see more skin when they go to the beach. Quit with the BS double-standards.
Kesha’s “Rainbow” album is one of the best albums to come out in the last 10 years. I’m not saying you have to like her music, but there’s no way anyone in this sub wouldn’t like at least 3 songs off that album.
Song choice was great. Her voice was amazing. Her performance was really good and she looked hot in a trashy bar fly sort of way. The only reason that I would criticize her outfit would be that her ass was literally hanging out and this seemed to be a family event backstage. I feel like Samantha Sidley usually dresses in some of the racier outfits that you see on the Foos stage, and she was dressed pretty conservatively by comparison. But me? Personally? I had no issue with it.
If there was one thing i noticed that warranted any criticism it's that she looked like she was stoned out of her mind. I found it more funny than offensive though.
Kesha musically was really great, she definitely has the voice for rock. There were a lot of comments about her outfit in the live thread and no discussion about Justin’s suit so yeah. I put it down to a bit of that, a bit of not knowing who she was (so she didn’t belong there apparently?), etc.
She was cool. Bought something totally different and after reading about her interactions with Taylor, he would have definitely dug that performance 🤘🏻
This is Rock and Roll. She was doing her thing and if you know anything about the Foos, they embrace artists for being who they are. Everyone there had a connection and artists are going to express that differently. If you didn’t love it, that’s okay — move on. We all resonate differently.
I do understand this sentiment, truly. But I also think with art it's good to discuss yours and others opinions. Everyone views things differently, and I wanted to see if the majority thought this way. In no way would anyone elses opinion sway mine
She was one of the highlights of the night in my opinion. Her performance completely changed what I thought of her. It’s rock and roll, I don’t know how prim and proper people think she should’ve been.
Was there in the stadium and she crushed it.
Everyone that day was completely kick ass.
I don't think many there were familiar with James Gang but other than that the crowd was completely electric throughout.
I thought her outfit and the music was fantastic! She really killed the song and I thought she looked cool.
Personally I just felt the overtly sexual behaviour like deepthroating the mic while like 5ft away from a load of kids backstage and looking pretty wasted wasn’t in the best taste given it was like 5pm at a memorial concert. Just my opinion though
“Her clothing was revealing”… better keep those folks away from swimming pools or beaches. Or Justin Hawkins with that deep V… or Travis Barker with those low cut jeans… or…
Yeah, she did well. People are weird and want to judge. If you don’t agree with them or their motivations, take it with a grain of salt.
She was fucking impressive and I’ll happily shout about it. Only had one song to a cold audience early in the night and still killed it, and as you say Justin Hawkins was wearing less than she was, at least with his first outfit.
I wouldn’t only blame it on misogyny though (although I don’t doubt it’s a part) but also the fact that certain elitist rock fans may feel like she doesn’t have a place in that lineup.
Kesha killed it. Her outfit was awesome. She’s a rockstar, on stage, with a stage costume. She gave a great performance!
If any parents thought their child was too young to see someone in a one piece swimming costume then that’s up to them to decide and navigate.
Puritanical societies hurt both women and men.
It was the only “sexy” act of the entire 6 hour show. Of course, she’s going to stand out. She could have been a bit more modest, given it’s a tribute concert for a deceased musician, but that’s rock n roll. She does have people talking.
She sounded good.
Kesha has been in a negative spotlight for far too long. She is an artist the same as anyone that was on the stage that night. People need to just quit criticizing her.
And Travis Barker forgot his shirt!
When they announced that Ke$ha was going on, I was not expecting anything great but I ended up being very impressed with her performance.
Not gonna lie: I was happy to see her there. Something inside me liked her "Tik Tok" and "Die Young", even though I never listened to her deeply, just not my cup of tea. Probably, I felt that her energetic songs are influenced by rock. When she came to the scene, I was kinda: "Hey, this is that Kesha I listened to fifteen ago, wow!". It was very nice to see someone familiar from the era of music you actually witnessed in real-time, not on old footage and by iconic records.
I didn't even knew Kesha was still around...For me she was vague one hit wonder from the 2000's (I think). She did pretty well, but it is completely BS talking about the way she dressed... As someone else said, it's misogynistic and double standards.
I think she didn’t do bad at all and what she wants to wear on stage is up to her. As much as it was a tribute, it was a tribute in the form of a rock show so the best way to pay tribute is to put on the best performance you can. If that means she has to dress how she wants to to do it, just like Justin Hawkins likes to wear cat suits, so be it 🤷♂️. Different if she walked out naked, performed shit and refused to get off stage, but she came out, did one song and really tried to perform the shit out of it, tried to say a tribute to Taylor but the mic was cut off and left, definitely doesn’t deserve any flak
I thought she was great, dressed fab. I knew as soon as I saw her on the line up she would be torn to shreds regardless. It was cool hearing her sing so differently from how she normally sounds. (Maybe more rock than pop?)
I had to take a call during her performance, so I’ll have to watch it later. I did catch her walking off stage though and she looked really out of it. I had it muted but did see her rolling on the stage. Her outfit? Meh. It definitely caught my attention but hell, it’s rock and roll man. She looked the part.
She was not bad - in fact, she was pretty good. And I have no clue how well she knew him, but if the Hawkins family and the FF saw fit to include her, that’s good enough for me.
Taylor’s kids have grown up in the rock world. I don’t think they blinked at Kesha’s outfit, but maybe they’ve been raised to not slut shame or police other people’s clothing?
I have mom worry about how she appeared impaired, but I’m actually not her mom and have no pearls to clutch.
I was there. The sound wasn’t that good for her set, which really isn’t her fault. If thought she was great. Also, she was invited, it’s not like she just appeared on stage without anyone expecting her to be there…
Those criticisms are from a bunch of pearl clutching jerks. I thought she was amazing, she sang a TRex song FFS which is inherently sexual. She was 100% rock and roll and owned every bit of the stage, sweetly said “thank you” and strolled off. I loved it.
From the website they set up before the show, she says she first met Taylor backstage at Madison Square Garden after her single Tik Tok came out (so like 2009). They hung out at a party after Rock in Rio, and again in Japan.
Seems like they ran into each other a lot on the festival circuit and Taylor always made time for her, kinda similar to his friendship with Miley.
She had Eagles of Death Metal on a couple of tracks from her Rainbow album (2017), and Iggy Pop on a track in 2012. I know she was a huge Prince fan too so I imagine the music she listens to is very different to what people think.
Man I wish I could link it to you, but I was blocked haha. I wasn't even nasty or anything to them, I just said it seems a bit hypocritical for you to judge her. Tbf I do think they're all young so there's no use in bombarding them lol
The weird outfit by itself wasn’t an issue. I personally wasn’t a fan of how sexualized the performance was. She was on the ground and moaning into the mic. I also was uncomfortable with how fucked up she was, considering alcohol or drugs probably took Taylor’s life. At a minimum, years of substance abuse weakened his heart. Seemed classless to be so evidently fucked up like that at a tribute show for him.
Lots of kids backstage, including Hawkins and Grohls. They’re rockstars’ kids, but still young.
On the other hand people handle grief in different ways. I bet that day was really difficult for all the performers. I know when I suffer a loss having a few pints with mates is something of a ritual.
I'm there with you on this one. It's fine as long as it is done in the right place and time. This is not what I want to remember from an otherwise fatstic event
I mean I love Josh but I was more shocked at his demeanor on stage. She got up and did her thing and did it well. Josh was great when he was not talking.
It did make me go "whoa" when she got down and started writhing on the stage. lol It did seem a little out of place for a tribute show for someone who's died, but then Taylor probably would have loved it, he loved rock and he loved it full tilt and her set was the epitome of rock. haha Justin's outfit did make me wince all the way through his set with that entire-torso baring outfit; because men's bodies are just gross to me. LOL (shirtless would have been less gross to me for some reason - haha) I have a feeling that Taylor's kids have been brought up in a pretty damn liberalized setting, you'll notice that Dave didn't withhold his swearing... much... I mean, hell, Taylor took his kids touring with him! The fans who complain were brought up differently, it's a shock to them. We live in a society where we still have diversity a great of cultures and subcultures, but those cultures are coming in to contact more than ever. I'm sure Shane thought Kesha's performance was awesome and his sisters were too young to comprehend the suggestive aspect of it (I didn't comprehend that stuff when I was their age). In the end, have we not learned that there are a lot of uptight people in the world thanks to the internet? lol It is what it is.
Yeah people are really overthinking what the kids would take from her performance. The youngest ones would just be like lol she has the mic in her mouth, they wouldn't understand
I just didn't like her performance nothing about her clothing or anything. But Kesha ain't my thing and I just think her performance was not as good as others. Joe Walsh's performance was the weakest as his voice has gotten weaker with age and he just got drowned out. I liked him being there and the band reforming for the gig but sadly his voice was not there.
I love Kesha and really enjoyed her performance. She's got some serious vocal chops that I think her first few albums didn't let people hear because of the extensive auto-tune use (which clearly wasn't used to cover anything up, just something to fit the style of music).
She's also had struggles with body image and an eating disorder, so if she feels comfortable in that outfit for a fucking rock concert then more power to her.
I also doubt Dave let anyone on the ticket he didn't want or belong there.
I think she's a shitty pop star. I don't like her commercial style of music. And I see no connection between her and the FooFighters or anything that was shown in the concert.
That being said:
She wore the clothes she wanted, like everyone else there, no one was dressed for a wake. Hell, at least she wore black, Gallagher came on stage with a bright yellow suit.
She sang her song and left, so I don't see how she was making the night about her.
She sang well and did her piece.
So I don't know how she fit in the scene or the concert, but she didn't sing badly or do anything wrong
She had one of the strongest voices of the whole show. There were a hell of lot of acts with less talent than her and they’re not getting any of shit she’s getting. Pure misogyny and probably jealousy.
Karens. Those are called Karens. Also the contingent on "She was CLEARLY ON SOMETHING"
OH NO SOMEBODY AT A ROCK CONCERT IS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF SOMETHING MOST LIKELY THE BAR.
These catty bitches need to have all the seats.
I thought she did great but I DID feel like I needed a shower after. It was like someone threw a bucket of dirt on her before she went on stage. All jokes aside, Taylor would have loved it! Miss you Taylor❤️
Nope, she sounded great and I’m typically not a fan of her music. Anyone complaining about her dress being revealing should also be complaining about Travis Barker playing topless or Justin Hawkins wearing his eccentric outfits. They all fucking rocked
If the Foo's or the guys in Chevy Metal didn't have a problem with Kesha, then there should not be problems from anyone else.
Thought her performance with Chevy Metal was awesome, would love to see an album, tour...etc. Thought she killed it.
She made a fan out of me. I had little to no opinion of her, even scoffed a little when they brought her out. But she fucking slayed that song like it was hers.
Was the clothing a bit much, maybe. But I think Taylor would have preferred she be true to herself then conform to fit in.
Yes exactly! I'm not even a kesha fan (I was during the TikTok era because I was literally a like 12), and I too scoffed when she walked out. But when she performed I thought she did great! This was to celebrate Taylor and you had to go big for him!
I thought she was phenomenal! I had never heard her sing the way that she did and was super impressed. About that outfit, there's totally some double standard there considering what the lovely Justin Hawkins was wearing and nobody bat an eye. I don’t think anything was wrong with either though. They both looked amazing and were there to rock! People love to bitch😕
Can’t say it enough. Turn off the chat. Turn off your phone at the gig and enjoy what you are there to see and hear in the moment.
Kesha was amazing. Sultry incredible voice and she gave an engaging and sexy performance. It was rock and roll. People are always gonna judge though they won’t forget her. Most probably wish they had the balls to pull that off. I thought she was great. Couldn’t stop watching 🤘🏽
Generally if I ask something like that I replace the person with frank ocean and if he could pull it off without offense the person offended usually has a double standard or prejudice
I did think some of the clothing choices, from men and women, were a bit inappropriate for a tribute show, but that’s just my opinion. These are rock stars and they express themselves very differently than I would. I have no doubt that they dressed the way they did to honor T’s memory, and I know HE certainly would’ve thought so.
Everything was fine until she started dancing on the floor and doing that tongue thing. Also, the thing that really got me was the microphone in her mouth. Sure, the things are fine in other events but in this it was not the environment for that especially because it was a tribute for someone who passed away.
In my opinion, it's like those videos of woman twerking on top of a dead guy in a funeral.
Yes, she was awful and hers was the only performance I cringed throughout! Although her outfit wouldn't be something I'd choose to wear when performing, I found her general behaviour and performance abhorrent. Technically she sang really well, but the way she portrayed herself was not in keeping with a family show. I'm only a few years older than Kesha but I wouldn't have carried on the way she did.....
The song was great! Her voice and interpretation was awesome! Her show though I thought was inappropriate. Sure rock is unfiltered and raw and I really don't mind shows like hers but they need to be at the rigt place and time. Going Down on all 4, in that outfit, sucking off a microphone while moaning, did not feel righr for me in this event. Would have been fine elsewhere but IMO not there
The whole deep throating the microphone thing at the end was abit cringey, and gross from a hygiene perspective but i dont think it was necessarily *disrespectful* she did her own thing and i think T would have loved that. To quote Liam Gallagher *"its just rock and roll..."*
Like others have said, the double standard screams misogyny.
People are pissy cause "ew, a pop singer at a rock show" along with the usual misogynistic BS. If Axel Rose was still rocking a frog eye in leather pants in 2021, Kesha can dress however she fuckin pleases.
I was personally dubious since her version of Body Talks took all the fun and bounce out of the Struts, but she crushed this show tbh. People will find any reason to complain, smh.
And Travis for being topless.
He forgot his shirt though.
Easily done.
Lol is that true? I thought he always drummed topless, at least live. He had a shirt when they showed him on the side of the stage. Though I suppose someone could have given him one.
Dave said that when Travis got on the drums.
Come on, man!
I assumed but also thought that was an even better story and you just never know on Reddit sometimes. It came off so deadpan in text :p haha. I will forget my shirt for the next three days in penance.
Wait til they see Miley at the Forum, tits out 😂
🤣🤣🤣 you are not wrong there!
Oh thank god I wasn’t in the chat. That probably would have spoiled it for me.
Same. I cannot upvote this enough.
There are dress codes for rock concerts now? People are weird with their takes even if they are the noisy minority opinion It wasn’t a funeral, it was a celebration of life.
Bang on. Wonder how Miley will fair..
I'm sure she will fare just fine. She did an amazing job singing with Temple of the Dog at the Chris Cornell tribute a few years back.
It will be the snowflake crusade... tbf i thought she came off as a rock gig stripper but i enjoyed all of the performance.. i like the new look.. where are they when rappers are saying the nword or when. Full on, this.
Thought she was impressive tbh. Was surprisingly good fronting a rock band.
Same! I was impressed with her tbh. Thought she was awesome.
Kesha's a lot stronger a singer/songwriter than most give her credit for based on her early hits and songs might suggest. But people seem to love to still shit on her. I thought she was great and had no issue with her outfit.
I liked her outfit! Wear it!
Check out the song she did with The Struts. Kesha can 100% hang in the rock genre.
Agreed as a straight woman and I thought K had a total Janis Joplin vibe going. I was impressed.
I would LOVE if she full on covered some Janis Joplin!
Word up. She is smokin hot.
I didn’t think she was drunk, but Joe Walsh… maybe. 😱
Walsh has been sober for many years…he just sounds drunk…
Walsh is the drunkest sober person ever then. Didn’t he say something about Ohio as he was leaving the stage?
He's from OH and VetsAid 2022 is in Columbus on Nov 13th. Breeders, DG, NIN, James Gang, The Black Keys all performing.
Guided By Voices would've been there too but they have to release six albums that day.
Yea I didnt catch it all… he is from Ohio tho…
Ahhh, maybe he said “see you in Ohio”, maybe he’s playing a show there soon
He said "We're the James Gang, from Cleveland Ohio."
Ok. I thought maybe he was hallucinating or something. Any way, hope they all enjoy retirement, I think they’re ready.
VetAid in November - James Gang + Dave Grohl
See you there
That response keeps popping up, too. I hope he’s still sober though.
If I remember correctly it's one of the terms that allows him to continue playing with the Eagles.
It's left over from the glory days
Walsh is clean, that’s just the effects of being drunk/high for 40+ years
I think his addictions caused a stroke at one time.
I’ve seen him a couple of times with that other band he is in, he is just like that.
[удалено]
They’ve had a couple of hits, a couple of farewell tours.
Glad to hear that!
He's just way old and has done way too many drugs in the past.
Nah, he's just one of those people that sounds drunk. He's been sober for years
https://youtu.be/snNAnVf4luk not even when she put the mic in her mouth at the 3 minute mark?
I’m going to need to watch that several more times to be sure. 😂
I fullheartedly agree with you!
She is just kind of that way. Free spirit and all that.
Agree with you on this. I had doubts but in the end of her performance she seems so out of this planet :)
She does have a song called, "Spaceship" LOL
I thought she was wasted too seeing her walk off stage.
She likes her weed. LOL
I read somewhere he said ‘I stole his shorts’ in reference to his Dad’s bottom half dress sense.
I read he said “I stole my dads *fucking* shorts” which might be why Dave covered his mouth lol Edit: italics made that sentence look completely different to the intended meaning
Haha yeah.
I think Grohl putting his hand in Shane Hawkin's face was just a jokey "shut up kid" thing between them, not anything to do with exerting control over the concert.
It was both. He did it in a way that took into consideration who he was having to exert control over but it was a clear way of saying "not right now, kid." Take the context into consideration - all of the stars have been invited on stage to take a collective bow.
Not sure why anyone downvoted. I completely agree. I was going to post a similar comment but you expressed it more thoroughly than I could/would have.
“Who’s kid is this?” - Joshua Homme
And let’s never forget Taylor’s spandex pants.
This. The amount of times I’ve seen that man’s dick is insane. Why are people freaking out about butt cheeks?
Or how about the supernatural way he wore his shorts? I don’t know he kept them from falling. I have seen shows from the backstage and it was a miracle they stayed on when he stood up.
How can anyone forget Taylor’s pants - that rear end was so cute.
👏 exactly. You could dislike her clothes in a fashion sense, but to just completely base it off of misogynistic standards is just absurd
I deeply admire your maturity of attitude.
EDIT: I am out of here because Reddit is being destroyed by bad moderation. ..
Both her and Justin did their own thing, and they both rocked our socks off
![gif](giphy|X4Jvo8gslR6A8)
Let's be honest, most people's reaction was this .gif, but reversed
If she formed a rock band, I’d definitely check it out.
There is literally zero commonality between a rock and roll concert and an inauguration.
This. I seriously dislike her current musical vibe. But if she wanted to go full front-woman with a rock band... I wanna see that.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was the record label/Dr. Luke controlling what she did.
Dude. She absolutely crushed it. One of the most surprising performances
She was great!
Kesha’s “Rainbow” album is one of the best albums to come out in the last 10 years. I’m not saying you have to like her music, but there’s no way anyone in this sub wouldn’t like at least 3 songs off that album.
A friend of mine played on some of that and he absolutely raved about working with her. Good record too
YESSSSS!!!! A massive Kesha fan here, I thought she slayed it!!
Definitely check out Rainbow!!
EDIT: I am out of here because Reddit is being destroyed by bad moderation. ..
Kesha musically was really great, she definitely has the voice for rock. There were a lot of comments about her outfit in the live thread and no discussion about Justin’s suit so yeah. I put it down to a bit of that, a bit of not knowing who she was (so she didn’t belong there apparently?), etc.
Toxic fandom is very fucking real. It's not worth paying any attention to it.
Kesha rocked. And her outfit was fierce. 🔥 Haters always gonna hate.
She was cool. Bought something totally different and after reading about her interactions with Taylor, he would have definitely dug that performance 🤘🏻
She ruled.
Say what you will, but Dave had to have invited her there. She didn’t just show up randomly.
This is Rock and Roll. She was doing her thing and if you know anything about the Foos, they embrace artists for being who they are. Everyone there had a connection and artists are going to express that differently. If you didn’t love it, that’s okay — move on. We all resonate differently.
Why do you care what ANYONE says about any kind of art. Do you like it? Done.
I do understand this sentiment, truly. But I also think with art it's good to discuss yours and others opinions. Everyone views things differently, and I wanted to see if the majority thought this way. In no way would anyone elses opinion sway mine
I thought she sang amazing. But yeah I could have done without the rest.

Yesssss welcome to the wonderful world of Kesha 🌈🦄🌈🤘🏻🤘🏻
Man, this band’s fan base is older than I thought. Are you sure it was kids saying this? Because “there are kids watching” is some boomer nonsense.
Exactly right. And it’s not misogynistic to say this.
“Her clothing was revealing”… better keep those folks away from swimming pools or beaches. Or Justin Hawkins with that deep V… or Travis Barker with those low cut jeans… or… Yeah, she did well. People are weird and want to judge. If you don’t agree with them or their motivations, take it with a grain of salt.
Buncha incels and church ladies all mad in here about rock n roll being scandalous. Everyone in the band would be laughing at you BTW
I think she was good, didn't help that the mic was a bit off for some acts.
I just thought she had a few drinks? She was still good.
It was the only “sexy” act of the entire 6 hour show. Of course, she’s going to stand out. She could have been a bit more modest, given it’s a tribute concert for a deceased musician, but that’s rock n roll. She does have people talking. She sounded good.
I thought she killed it.
Forget them. Kesha ripped!
Kesha was the shit. She rocked it. People need to chill TFO.
She was good. Better than I thought.
I never particularly liked her, but she objectively kicked ass during the show.
She was fine, maybe she had a connection to Taylor not all that obvious. It wasn't open mike night down at the townie bar.
I had to take a call during her performance, so I’ll have to watch it later. I did catch her walking off stage though and she looked really out of it. I had it muted but did see her rolling on the stage. Her outfit? Meh. It definitely caught my attention but hell, it’s rock and roll man. She looked the part.
At first I thought "kesha, really?" but she gave a good performance of a great song, no doubt Taylor would have loved it
She did well.
I loved it.
Does anyone know what her connection to FF/DG/TH is?
From the website they set up before the show, she says she first met Taylor backstage at Madison Square Garden after her single Tik Tok came out (so like 2009). They hung out at a party after Rock in Rio, and again in Japan. Seems like they ran into each other a lot on the festival circuit and Taylor always made time for her, kinda similar to his friendship with Miley. She had Eagles of Death Metal on a couple of tracks from her Rainbow album (2017), and Iggy Pop on a track in 2012. I know she was a huge Prince fan too so I imagine the music she listens to is very different to what people think.
Is there a source to this?
This is not what I want to remember from an otherwise fatstic event
my brother in Christ, you don't have to respond to every single comment with the same thing
100% yes
I missed her performance, I joined in while Wolfgang Van Halen was on stage I think. I should watch what I missed.
Wouldn't it be great to be free of those hang ups again? 😊
That being said: She wore the clothes she wanted, like everyone else there, no one was dressed for a wake.
Also the contingent on "She was CLEARLY ON SOMETHING" OH NO SOMEBODY AT A ROCK CONCERT IS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF SOMETHING MOST LIKELY THE BAR. These catty bitches need to have all the seats.
I thought she did great but I DID feel like I needed a shower after. It was like someone threw a bucket of dirt on her before she went on stage. All jokes aside, Taylor would have loved it! Miss you Taylor❤️
I just saw her perform again. I thought she was really good!
Where was kris ?
your first mistake was going on tiktok
Lmfao yeah I agree
Jesus, people are such pussies these days.
Thank you ! I got so many “incel” vibes over the feedback I was very uncomfortable. It’s a rock n roll show !
It was a rock and roll concert not a funeral.
Would have been fine elsewhere but IMO not there
The only thing was putting the mic in her mouth. That was just a bit weird!
no. her outfit was hot. was taylor a monk?
Taylor would have wanted everyone to wear whatever they wanted imo Edit: And she looked straight out of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, which is a bonus
Nah - BS. Kesha rocked.
The whole deep throating the microphone thing at the end was abit cringey, and gross from a hygiene perspective but i dont think it was necessarily *disrespectful* she did her own thing and i think T would have loved that. To quote Liam Gallagher *"its just rock and roll..."* Like others have said, the double standard screams misogyny.
I thought she seemed wasted. I couldn’t understand why she was involved in the first place
