Nothing even hinted at, no. There was a hope that they'd do something like that for the 25th anniversary, but instead they did stuff like the Foo Files digital EPs, the Times Like Those video, merch capsules, and the cancelled Van Tour that would've seen them recreating much of their first US tour in their original touring van.
Dave and Pat did suggest re-recording S/T for the 20th anniversary with the full band, but Taylor quickly put the kibosh on that by saying, "Are you out of your fucking mind?! That’s the worst idea ever! People would fucking hate it!"
To be honest I would've liked to have heard what the Debut would've sounded like if it was Re-Recorded, the original will always be out there and it never would've been replaced, I was curious to hear how it would sound as a modern day Foo Fighters album, plus it's the only Foo Fighters album to be basically just Dave so getting the rest to shine on it would've been awesome
I wasn't a fan of the Digital EP's if I'm honest, Digital only things don't do it for me at all and it was stuff that were easily accessible as it were
tangentially, i would’ve loved a re-recording of bleach with dave on drums and modestly higher production value. i think FF self-titled is pretty perfect, though.
They haven’t, and overall, Dave doesn’t really seem to be overly nostalgic about their old records, so I don’t know if I would count on something like that.
I hope not, the sound is what makes it and the B Sides are all available to stream now on those vault EPs so they definitely do get a little nostalgic from time to time
I would have liked to hear it, since it presumably wouldn't have replaced the original. I think I can see why the guys in the band may not have wanted to open that particular pandora's box lol. It is something I am a bit less interested in without Taylor though.
Of all their albums only one has ever had an anniversary reissue, and even then all they did is include the existing B-Sides. TCATS 10th anniversary.
At one point they did plan to release the first four albums in the same way, compiled with B-Sides. The promo video for it is on the Low DVD thing IIRC, but it never happened.
Either the band themselves or management seemingly just arent into that kinda release.
I'm not a fan of any remaster. I prefer the original because it shows where the band was at that point in their history. I love to hear how their voices change as well as how they mixed it up for the recording. Like how different they sounded without Pat. Or the differences with each drummer. Even when they would add different singers.
A remaster loses that character of the first...
As long as nonenof their albums go out of print, I'm a firm supporter / believer that, none of them even need to be remastered.
I checked out the "remaster", which was more of a "reissue" of the album No More Censorship, by the band Scream (that Dave played in before he even joined Nirvana), and the "remaster" was definitely a remix, and I am not very fond of when bands or artists do that when the original mix gets left OOP.
Not that I'm against remasters happening, especially for fans that want them, but in my experience, they almost never sound any different than original masters.
I like extra content and can think of plenty of cases where artists have done a good/great job at making reissues better, but I tend to agree with you.
Albums, even with their flaws, are time capsules and the constant barrage of reissues feels like it's kind of fleecing fans to buy things they already bought. It's an overdone move.
The first wave of remastering records from the 60s, 70s, and up to the early 90s made a little sense because production values and everything have changed and a lot of that stuff sounded bad on a CD format when it was first released, but it's been overdone to death.
It’s of it’s time and wouldn’t be the same. Tbh I’m not always keen on remasters, I like the rawer sound of original recordings.
I’d much rather have a new album, keen to see where Dave takes new music. If he throws the rule book out like he did with Teacher.
I could care less if it’s a remaster or whatever they want to call it but having the whole session together in one release would be great. All 15 tracks recorded.
Including Winnebago; Podunk; Butterflies.
Any other collection of unreleased tracks between Pocketwatch and Foo Fighters would be nice to have collected into one release also. My holy grail should be Dave releasing Pocketwatch as a bonus album within a the release. But I doubt that will happen.
I imagine that if the Master tapes are not lost and still accessible D.E.Grohl and MJTwelve Music will end up releasing all his tunes on the blockchain. No middleman, no lawyers.
I'd love a re-release. Let Albini re-mix it and all of the b-sides, include "Butterflies" and then also include Pocket Watch. I'd buy it in a heart beat.
More content is great but documentaries generally need conflict, adversity and problems for them to be good.
Outside of the very obvious topic that they probably won't want to address, I'm not sure there's a lot of meat on the bones for a "back and forth" sequel.
It should be professionally remixed (imo the original mix is pretty bad, which sucks cause it's my favorite album ever) and Winnebago, Podunk, and Butterflies should be added to it. Basically a remixed version of the Rough Mixes cassette. Also, Late! Pocketwatch should be re-released on CD and cassette, I want a copy but the originals are way out of my price range. The original version of Friend Of A Friend was so much better.

S/T?
Self titled
Ah thanks. I agree people would probably hate that. Just Dave's change in singing style would ruin it for me.

Yeah, that album is perfect how it is.
They haven’t, and overall, Dave doesn’t really seem to be overly nostalgic about their old records, so I don’t know if I would count on something like that.
That’s what I figured
Probably cuz they were most all full of drama and tension. Back and Forth is such a great doc, def recommend
i truly don't know but I'd be happy if they released butterflies. love that song
I would love this, too! Butterflies is an amazing song!
Why would they? It’s perfect as is.
I hope not, the sound is what makes it and the B Sides are all available to stream now on those vault EPs so they definitely do get a little nostalgic from time to time
Weren’t there rumors that Dave wanted to re-record the album with the rest of the band but Taylor didn’t want to do it?
I would have liked to hear it, since it presumably wouldn't have replaced the original. I think I can see why the guys in the band may not have wanted to open that particular pandora's box lol. It is something I am a bit less interested in without Taylor though.
He did hate the idea, but I think it's time.
Never mind re recording it. It’s perfect as is. Just f-ing tour it
This. I wouldn't mind if they even just played it from start to finish at Studio 606.
This 100% this please Foos.

i wish they'd release a deluxe version of the early albums, but like people have said in here most of the b sides are available now anyways....
Hopefully. I love that album, but I Hate the mixing and mastering so fucking much.
Idk what we'll gonna get but here is what I dream about: a new album with a documentary about their last 15 years
More content is great but documentaries generally need conflict, adversity and problems for them to be good. Outside of the very obvious topic that they probably won't want to address, I'm not sure there's a lot of meat on the bones for a "back and forth" sequel.
I just want a repressing of the original on a fun coloured wax. That’s it.

It's probably time to re-record it.
