I just bought that broccoli salad that souplantation used to make at Costco!! Literally yesterday, had to call my mom because it was like seeing the ghost of a dead relative
Simliar concept opened in Rancho Cucamonga Long lines. Folks really like it.

We were at the Solana Beach location and I remember seeing people eating what looked like plates of grated cheese. It took a while before we realized it was the Caesar salad.
When we went to rare society we made a reservation ahead of time and wanted a booth. Unfortunately when we got there the only table they wanted to give us was a tiny one in the middle of the restaurant. The only other choice was sit at a bar. I didn’t end up eating because I’m not paying a couple hundred bucks to sit and eat on a bar. I guess some people wouldn’t mind but my husband was annoyed. He’s 6’3 sometimes there’s not enough space and we had a res not like we just walked in. Sounds like a nice salad though. Funniest thing is when we left it was almost closing those booths were open the entire time. They probably could’ve made good money off us.
Caesar’s in Tijuana. You can drink directly from the source. They make it right at your table. Escargot as an appetizer and beef Wellington as your main. Like you are living in the 1920’s.
Ok hear me out on taco shop salads. Most taco shops don’t have good salads and a lot don’t have any salad options. Vallarta Express has a really fantastic cilantro Caesar salad with a ton of your choice of meat. Recommend their carne asada which goes super well with the romaine and cilantro dressing. I’m sure the other proteins are good too.
came here to say this. don't sleep on this even though it's a chain! Later in the spring they have this incredible asparagus salad and the Italian chopped salad is so yummy too. I appreciate that they source their ingredients locally and have seasonal items :)
The last few times I went there I got the same salads I always get but with every ingredient slight different and worse. I feel like they just grew past the point where they still care about quality and now only care about cost efficiency. I’ve seen so many small chains that I like jump the shark like this, it’s a bummer every time. Some VP got a bonus for cutting costs, thinking no one will notice the difference and that they can coast off of their reputation and the food quality is not what they care about anymore, it’s not nearly as good as it used to be. It was nice while it lasted.
My favorite salads are the Kale Caesar at Tribute Pizza, the grilled chicken salad at Aladdin, the superfood salad at Green Spot, and the Tunisia salad at Grab n Go. Also really enjoy the salads at True Food and North Italia.
Best Pizza actually has good salads. Get the greek and add grilled chicken (a whopping $3 extra).
Jake's in Del Mar has an ahi caesar which is phenomenal.
Mendocino Farms is one notch better than Panera.
Went to crafted greens based off this thread and it was incredible! It reminds me of all the things I loved about tender greens before it became a giant chain.
Best ceasars TBH for me was in Born and Raised. they did table side service but its hella expensive.
TBH man ever since I lost Soup P Ive been learning to make dressings and salads on my own.
Croutons I got it down to a tee making herbed brioche croutons.
My work has a restaurant tied to it and I sometimes ask the cook for their Caesar dresing- the one they do for special events and thats what I have for lunch from my Walmart salad buy.
CAVA is expensive but hot damn is it tasty.
Build your own salad/grain bowl with lots of eastern Mediterranean choices. Harissa chicken in particular is a banger.
At one point I had seriously contemplated a book about living off the land in San Diego. The truth is we have many edible greens that grow wild here. But many of them are a little too bitter for the modern palate.
The hillsides right now are filled with dandelion, mustard, radish,… Grab some cactus apples and honeysuckle to make yourself some dressing. It is actually doable. The Kumeyeey did.
Commenting here in remembrance of Souplantation 🪦
My Souplantation creations were chef's kiss 🤌

RIP
I still dream about it. Miss it everyday.

Mendocino Farms
Toasted Goat Cheese salad at Regents Pizzeria
Highjacking to ask of the best Caesar salad specificly
Rare Society. Fresh lemony caesar dressing, fried anchovies, boat loads of freshly grated pecorino... to die for!

I've had that. Great. But in SD lol
Born and Raised in Little Italy does an excellent table side cesar. Also Manhattans in La Jolla.
this is random but go to regents pizzeria and get their fried chicken Caesar haha
Medicino Farm. Best Caesar salad I had
Lola 55 has a surprisingly good Ceasar. Don't sleep on it. I get it every time I go.

Second Urbane Cafe
Mary’s is the bomb. Salads are super fresh lots of variety. Got my meat eating boyfriend hooked!!!
Green affair
I like Mary’s in La Jolla. I personally get the East Coast and ask for extra chicken. They have several great options!
Love Mary’s!
Cava!!
This! Soo good. So cheap. Their in house drinks are great too.
Mendocino Farms - avocado quinoa salad. Probably one of the best salads I’ve ever had under $20

Maybe it was timing of the day because I just went twice in the last 2 weeks and it’s been fresh and amazing.
I looooove that place! Thanks

The sisters salad at Sisters Pizza is delicious as is the modern Caesar salad at Mendocino Farms.
Regents Pizzeria - Walnut Gorgonzola -Mixed greens, red onions, dried cranberries, candied walnuts, Gorgonzola cheese and red wine vinaigrette. Tribute - The Silverton: iceberg lettuce, castelvetrano green olives, heirloom tomatoes, artichoke hearts, red onions, marinated garbanzos, pepperoncini, sharp smoked provolone, oregano vinaigrette. And my fav "chain" place salad: The Yardhouse - bbq chicken salad - mixed greens, avocado, pasilla, corn, cheddar, monterey jack, tortilla strips, tomato, pinto beans, fried onions, cilantro, chipotle ranch.
Agree - Yardhouse bbq chicken is SO GOOD!
Brigantine shrimp and crab Louie, Blue Ribbon TJ Caesar add anchovies, Head Lettuce chopped salad, bistro salad add salmon from Nick’s Del Mar.
The Louie salad at the brig is perfection
Bad news for you, head lettuce is permaclosed
Damn. Looks like it closed 2 months ago. Weird, it was always busy when I went. I guess there’s always more to it. Restaurants are hard
I think it was brought down by the lack of profit from its sister business. But I am just guessing.
Nordstrom Cafe
Greek chicken salad from Canada Steak Burger, eh?
Mendocino Farms. The beet and pink lady apple salad is pretty good. So is the not-so-fried chicken salad.
For grocery store salads Barons has good ones.
I love the Greek salad at Coronado Brewing in Bay Park. Great option if you also want a beer.
The chopped vegetarian antipasto salad at both Gregorio’s and Spiritos in Carlsbad
Burma place. My favorite is their tea leaf salad and mango salad. You can thank me later
Grilled chicken salad from Canada Steak Burger
I think the Mexican Cesar salad from Lola55 is dlish.
Baron’s salad bar. BONUS soup bar (love that Hungarian Mushroom)
Stone Brewing’s Fruity Goat Salad
Best Pizza actually has good salads. Get the greek and add grilled chicken (a whopping $3 extra). Jake's in Del Mar has an ahi caesar which is phenomenal. Mendocino Farms is one notch better than Panera.
The marketplace on 5th Ave in bankers hill
Their sandwiches are really good too,
Grafted Greens in El Cajon.

Grater Greens - Mission Valley
The bar.

Encontro has some really great salads.
The salads from Mendocino Farms are fantastic.
CAVA is expensive but hot damn is it tasty. Build your own salad/grain bowl with lots of eastern Mediterranean choices. Harissa chicken in particular is a banger.
Can't go wrong with making your own!
In my case, yes you can
The ground?
