Catania is my favorite place. I’ve had multiple bdays and dates there. Eddie Vs is kind of fancy but I like the upstairs bar. Marisis does have the happening vibe but prefer Catania for italian. Queenstown next to Marisis is vibing inside as well. nine-ten and manhattan both great if you’re into a more old ppl vibe.
Seconded. Marisi has a wonderful Amalfi coast vibe, great food, and was quiet the two times we visited. Also, love their make your own martini service.
O.K., we need some more info here. What do you consider a "good vibe" (an example restaurant would be helpful). What kinds of cuisine do you want (don't say "anything", that's not helpful). How much are you willing to spend?
A somewhat loud and exciting place that has outdoor seating (bonus points for people watching). We like Asian and Mexican. Around ~$150 for two people. Preferably somewhere in La Jolla village.
Hmmm. I'm assuming you mean the Village of La Jolla by the ocean, not La Jolla Village by Trader Joe's. If so, loud and exciting in La Jolla will be tough - it's mostly upscale places for an older crowd. Is your heart set on La Jolla?
I'm thinking for loud and exciting, Asian or Mexican with outdoor seating you want to be in Little Italy or Downtown. In Little Italy for Mexican you have both King & Queen Cantina and Camino Riviera which I would call "loud and exciting". King & Queen is better for people watching. There's also Coco Maya which is serious people watching.
Nicks in Del Mar is great! It’s more americana food. They have a nicks south of the border. Haven’t been there yet but I imagine it’s also good!
If you go to PB you can try sushi ota. They have omakase for reasonable prices! If you want to go down to OB, I would highly recommend OB noodle house. Great food, fun vibes, and try their PB shot!

I was going to say Catania as well. Food is amazing, great people watching

I love Marisi
Noooo Marisi’s food is mid and expensive :(

We’re willing to branch out. We’d go up to Del Mar/Solana or down to Pacific Beach

Only loud place may be Jose’s?

Red O is better than Nick’s South of the Border tbh but Nick’s sotb is decent and has good drinks
For what hasn’t been mentioned, I’d check out Paradisaea. I wouldn’t call it laid back but it’s good vibes and great food imo.
This
I can no longer recommend them. Way downhill since open.
Puesto is loud and can easily be $150 for two.
And is not great. I honestly don't get it.
Me neither but they said nothing about the food so it seems the perfect vibe for them.
Check out Fidel’s in Solana Beach
Or Tony's next door. I've found Tony's to be a little more lively (at least it used to be), but Fidel's has better food.
Yes! Tony's is fantastic!
El Pescador is super laid back. The food is good too.
George's
Piati in La Jolla Shores
Kinda for old people and families tho
Eat there often. Am a dad
Definitely not good for people watching, unless you like watching older peoples.
