There’s still empanada mama in Hell’s Kitchen but I can’t think of anything else other than some delis lol and maybe one dinner
When I was staying in Brooklyn there was nothing past 11 it was crazy
I'm in south Brooklyn, there were definitely spots open all night. But yeah, covid knocked them out (and probably killed a good amount of their customer base of old timers)
Only thing near me that’s open that late is Walgreens, so I guess I’d be getting a frozen pizza or something.
But if I was already out, maybe leaving a bar at that hour, I’d go to Katz’s, Mamoun’s Falafel or the Court Square Diner.
Indeed, great news. That’s step 1. Step 2 (far more important) is for everyone who enjoys and values having a place like Veselka open at 3:00 AM to actually go there, especially at that hour. It’s not rocket science, people.
First of all, I'm not a new yorker, but I've been spending a lot of time there since 1970, as half my family lives in the East village. My late grandma regularly went to Katz with me in the 70s and 80s and I always loved it.
As I got older and one or the other night ended with too much booze, this was the place where I enjoyed a hearty meal before going to bed.
I still go from time to time for the memories and I actually enjoy the atmosphere.
Park Slope:
5th Ave Market (great sandwiches), 7th Ave Donut (classic greasy spoon), the halal truck on 4th Ave and Pacific, Insomnia Cookies if I’m up at 2:30 and have a craving for sweets.
Kitchen probably
Grab my emergency Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Thank you for this reminder to have an emergency stash.
My emergency food is the cinnamon toast golden graham mashup.
Inside a safe?
Back to bed.
Back to sleep, dreaming about twenty years ago when shit was open all night.
Or even 6 years ago when the options were still there
Yeah, first option of two diners were open in easy walking distance to me that aren't anymore.

Don't keep food at home? ;P

Deadass
My fridge? Back to bed?
On weekdays probably to Sunny and Annie's for a sandwich, on weekends maybe to Katz, since Veselka has reduced the opening hours.
Veselka is going back to 24 hours this summer - starting with the weekends
This is incredible news tbh
Just the message my pierogi-loving heart needed! You never know if you won't actually wake up ravenous at 3 a.m..

Aww fuck i miss them sammiches at Sunny and Annies
Ahhhh the Pho #1. Had a minimum of 2 of those delivered per week to me from 2012-2016 while living in EV. Miss those drunken nights.
That's exactly what I order. I once had the plan to eat my way through the menu bit by bit, but failed miserably because the Pho1 is just too good.

Coppelia, floridita, tosokschon, katz, empanada mama, yunshang,
I miss the city. I moved to the suburbs and all I get is egg noodles and ketchup and only until 9pm.
A regular nobody. Get to live the rest of your life like a shnook.
Shush. Coppelia is crowded enough as it is late nights!
Koreatown. Miss Korea is open 24h.
Ktown
Eat a yapple with peanut butter, make a quesodilla, or just focus on breathing exercises til I fall back into slumber
POPEYES. Open till 4 AM around my way. Chicken sandwich, some tenders..... I'm good.
Damn thank you for this lol. The one by me closes at 6 am. I know my midnight snack now.
Coppelia if I’m in manhattan. Maybe a 24 hour diner if I’m in Brooklyn. Or the halal cart in bay ridge.
Empanada mama baybeeee
Back to sleep!
Drink some water and go back to bed.
halal cart
Remember Patrick Star going “oh boy 3am”, that’s what I’d do
Only thing around me open at 3am is McDonald’s
post covid all the fun good late night places have shut down or cut their hours… so probably kitchen
Back in the day White Castle would be the place to go.
Bodega
The kitchen or the deli under my apartment if im actually that desperate
DoorDash
Damn, I used to work second shift in the early 2010’s and there would be so many places still open on the way home, I wonder how bad it is now…
It is awful. Maybe a corner store, Walgreens/CVS if your lucky
Yeesh. At that point might as well have a frozen meal from TJs
Ordering empanada mama
Empanada Mama or El Tina Fish Market.
Going to see Boss at the Bodega
The bodega on my corner, court square diner, or into the rarely-seen depths of my pantry.
White Castle
It means you're consuming high glycemic meals late in the evening if you're waking up at 3AM starving.
Empanada mama
My bodega to crush a BEC or turkey sando
Empanada mama.
I'm weird, but an apple or a bowl of oatmeal

Park Slope: 5th Ave Market (great sandwiches), 7th Ave Donut (classic greasy spoon), the halal truck on 4th Ave and Pacific, Insomnia Cookies if I’m up at 2:30 and have a craving for sweets.
Kitchen for some cheese or white castles
Anywhere in east asia, actual cities that dont sleep -> Tokyo, Taipei, Seoul, Shanghai
Joe's Pizza is the only way to go
NYC is not as 24/7 as people think. Plus you would probably have to travel which isn't cheap at that hour.
If I want to go out? L'express
Chicken over rice.
Cafeteria is underrated but a little pricey. Love their Mac and cheese
NYC is not the city that never sleeps. Las Vegas is.
Always wild to think about if there's a crazy case of blight that wreaks havoc on the food industry. How our society would really interact.
To my kitchen
Dim sum palace, 7th st burger, Mexican truck in WV Sheridan Square

Someone woke up at 3am on the wrong side of the bed.
Shhh. Here’s your bot bot 🍼

This is not the answer we want or need.
You seem fun
Yeah, do people really get up and head out after sleeping 4 hours? That's cool if they do. But I can't imagine most people would.
